  1. one tandem to see if you like it and to get over the rush then aff starting with leval 1 you will learn the most this way.
  2. Regulation. im one who is extreamly all for self regulation. that is what uspa is based on. this regulation needs to come from the d.z's themself. wich may take a person or two dying before it happens. after watching this guy jump this canopy this weekend it is very obvious he is going to get hurt. especially when the hot summer humid air with 3500 ft density alt is here. but there really isnt much you can do other than educate them and hope they dont kill themselves.. but i bet you he will break somthing before he learns. i would love to see this guy go ahead and relize he needs a larger wing while he gains more experiance. but if he doesnt listen he will learn one way or another. hopefully not the hard way. if you tell him he cant jump. he is just going to go somwhere else. hopefully they wont let him jump. but you know someone will. so he must be educated. although regulation would help here it would give us somthing to lean on and force this person to do what we want, i still dont agree with the uspa stepping in with a regulation, maybee a B.S.R. or somthing like that. but this sort of thing needs to be self regulated, just like uspa is. but then again this is my opinion...
  3. You know man, I was thinking about that, and you're 100% correct. She's very defensive of him though as she got quite angry at some comments ppl made (didn't hear them it was when we were with him) so we'd have to approach with caution. But given the right pace I bet we could turn her. Good call. Blue ones, Ian ya but they were all newbies.... and no respect was used when they were talking....
  4. yup this is true.. but ian... did you meet his wife? im assuming she was his wife.... she had a little kid with her... girl, boy/.... i dont remember..... i think if they come out again we can get to her......... if we get to her she will most definatly get to him....
  5. more than likely he will get hurt under this canopy.. how bad he gets hurt is the question. well what else can you do? nothing. he is free to make his own choices. the only thing you can do is try to help.and if they are still going to jump the canopy. what would you do?..... he needs to be educated. hopefully he wont learn the hard way.
  6. well the canopy was NEW. he said he had 4 jumps on it. me and ian did 2 jumps with him. so now i would say he has 6 jumps on the canopy. his skill showed also. he was over controlling the canopy in a big way.
  7. This is actually an excellent point of view. I am quite new to the sport and am looking to downsize very shortly. I have a Sabre2 demo on the way (hopefully). I am not looking to hear "OMG WTF are you thinking?" What people like me ARE looking for is advice/instruction on how to properly and safely fly our new canopies. Can't some of us 'low timers' make a SEMI aggressive canopy choice but still be safe? I would like to think with proper instruction and flying conservativley as our skills improve the answer would be yes. Jeff the problem isnt if somone can land a canopy or even if they can fly it well... the problem resides in experiance. experiance in knowing when and where what is too much. peaple say "emergency landings" well trust me. if you get under alot of stress for some reason. "like an off landing""or somone cutting you off".... wich happens ALL the time, then you are way more likely to make an abrupt decision that is going to hurt you. this kind of thing happens all the time... ALL the time....the canopy he is jumping at the wingload he was jumping it matches mine. i didnt get there untill 1800 jumps. i didnt get there by choice. i could have gotten to where i am a lot earlier if i had chose too, but would i be typing this right now? would i still be skydiving? would i be crippled?. who knows.... with jump numbers and more importantly currency, and time in the sport, becomes the knowledge of how easily a stupid little mistake can affect you and your family's entire life.
  8. well i believe the label said it was a 9o s/f canopy. the guy was at a 2.1 wing loading. his landings showed his experience. if they arent going to listen to you tell them not to jump and the s&ta isnt going to ground them.... might as well help teach them how to fly it...
  9. my check and app is in the mail as of tonight.... so we will see how it goes..... looks like i will be making alot of trips to fla. over the summer.

thats a good one... hahaha (personal attack inserted here.)
  19. please take a canopy control course. if this is your belief then i think you will learn alot and it would be a very positive thing for you. depends on the canopy. but if your canopy is doing this to that much of an extreame im willing to bet you got your brake lines a little too tight.
  20. i will drag your happy ass out of that office.....
