When I was flying on a regular basis I hand flew from take off to level off and generally hand flew most of the desent and all of the approach and landing. It is easy to become a system monitor and have your head up your ass when you need it most.

I would be curious to the thought process and attitude that this was done with. There are some pretty serious issues that hang in the back ground of something like this. Was it done out of spite, with a they aren't going to do anything to me attitude? Did he really not see anything wrong and did not even consider the consequences? (this is the one that would bother me)

Sounds like a kid that has never had a good ass beating and has no respect for his parents. At 8 yrs old I would hope he knew what he was doing was wrong. I don't want to beat up too bad on someone I don't know but when I see a child misbehave I rarely blame the child. I would either take some of the gifts back or hold them till the birthday in March.

As a pilot this is disturbing.

I had ridden with him a couple times in the last month and was impressed with how well he was handling the bike. He took his time getting use to it when he got it and was especially careful when Lisa was with him. Take the time over the next month to teach yourself to look for motorcycles while you are driving and maybe Johns death can at least save other. Oh yeah, put down the damn phones,stop texting,putting on makeup,eating, picking your nose and anything else that takes your attention off of your driving. Ride free my friend, I am saddened by the rides we will not get to do.

Those that know you (even if just from scuttlebutt), think you are. But not everyone knows you. Yes, but wasn't this aimed at people who are not in that world and therefore maybe not know who is who? I don't dispute your ability.... I just think that someone who does not know you or is not in the circle asking for more information should be bashed for asking a simple and relevant question. I think you will pull it off, but that is only because I know of you and what you have done. I think Spence will pull off his boogie, but only because I know of him doing it before. But I don't see asking for qualifications as a ridiculous question worthy of being bashed. Look, I think it is a GREAT idea. I think you have the skills to organize it, and the people to pull it off and I support the effort. I just think that bashing a person who asks a question will scare off the EXACT people you are trying to do this for. Attitudes like that are the reason I have not done a big way since a 100 way in 1997. For the record, The statement was mine and mine alone. I put it out there because I think it would be very arrogant to be looking to get on your first bigway/100 way and feel the need to interrogate the organizers. The bad attitude is all mine.
