  1. Don't forget to stop by the bank and pickup some $2 bills. Yes, most banks will have some. Bring them to registration and stamp them with a parachute stamp before you go into town and spend them. It helps show the town that we are spending money there.
  2. BOOBIES are ALWAYS an option! Beat me to it. I can't believe it took that long.
  3. That was built to be a troup carrier.
  4. In this day and time, probably none. Your home DZ would probably be your best chance. I jumped with me wifes tandem on my 100th jump with a few others but that was back when we lived dangerously...like 1990 I was also shooting paid tandem videos with less than 200 jumps but that's a whole other argument.
  5. Mistake number one. Never give them all the money. Question: There was a company that converted C-210 to a turbine. The 206 is the same airframe for the most part. Why not use a company that has done it already?
  6. A good pilot among the four would have prevented this also.
  7. It was terrible! I actually had to find something constructive to do last night. I thought I was going to have to go to work today.
  8. Indeed, but not enough to qualify as a positive value in terms of the weight of the jumper. A wingsuit can lift 'some' of the weight of a jumper, but it cannot lift 'all' of the weight and provide for a zero descent rate. Just one that fits his theory. You are using an incorrect definition of lift.
  9. What else would you expect him to say?
  10. that was my first thought as well While I understand where y'all are coming from, it should bother everyone that a judge can limit your activities on a whim. And like someone else said, why not banning him from other dangerous activities. I'm betting the guy could fight it and win if he wanted to
  11. Sorry, wasn't commenting on your post.
  12. In addition to all the other stuff posted about air currents and ground effect, one other thig to consider is aiming for something just short of the ledge and making a last second adjustment to hit your target, as opposed to aiming past the ledge. I'm not sure how quick a wingsuit reacts to input or how close the ballons were to the edge but if you look at the "Grind" video I believe the ballons were far enough past the edge that a last second adjustment down would still allow a miss of the ledge. All in all, too tight a stunt for my liking.
  13. Not sure what Jerome is but I have a '90 Pace Arrow. It has a 90 gal. tank and gets about 5.5 mpg.
  14. The issue of a 'loser pays' system is simple to solve. The loser should have to pay the legal fees of the winner, but those legal fees should be limited to a 'reasonable' amount. The idea with 'loser pays' isn't to provide a winfall for the winners (they just won, that's their winfall) it's to discouge frivilous lawsuits. So you the courts were to assign a 'value' to legal services, and then have an independent auditor (at the expense of the loser) make sure the legal fees submitted are 'appropriate', then you have your solution. It discourages frivilous lawsuits, and prevents Joe Public from being saddled with the bill from a $1000/hr corporate attorney. In the case of Joe Public suing John Average, the loser may end up covering the winners legal fees in full. In the case of Joe Public suing McDonalds, McDonalds would still be on the hook for the balance of their $1000/hr attorney's fees, but that's the chance they take hiring a guy who charges $1000/hr. At least if the $1000/hr guy comes through Mickey D's will only be on the hook for $800-ish/hour. In terms of skydiving lawsuits, if a DZ hires an 'avearge' priced lawyer, and they prevail in the suit, their legal fees might be covered in full. Who ya gonna get to write that into law?...the lawyers?
  15. So we have established that a smart person, when the event is running well, tries to take care of people and that it is not the RESPONSIBILITY of the CUSTOMERS to support a poorly run event. That is free enterprise in action. Now, from what I have been told, the Dubai 500 way folks did offer refunds. So there is no point in the OPs rant. Edit: Damn you auto correct! I said nothing about a poorly run event. By going bad, I meant the weather crapped on us or something like that. Like I said, it would depend if they wanted me to be able to do another one. I couldn't risk planning an event if I was still paying for the last one.
  16. Edited to remove political discussions. Avoid political arguments here please. When you have a bad event, you want the participants to help bail you out.... But when you have an AWESOME event where you might rake in tons of money... Do you give refunds? When your employer has a bad year do you give back some of your salary?
  17. Edited to remove political discussions. Avoid political arguments here please. When you have a bad event, you want the participants to help bail you out.... But when you have an AWESOME event where you might rake in tons of money... Do you give refunds? I'll let you know the first time I make tons of money. But to be serious, when I have an event that is going well I tend to spend money on beer, give away jump tickets, slip a few bucks to people who are helping out. I don't think I should have to justify making a few bucks off of what I do. As far as people helping out if we ever have a bad year, They don't have to, only if they want to have another one.
  18. Someone who would steal a grand is a stupid fucker. I'd need at least a million and a good chance to get away.
  19. If the proceeds went to charity, I would gladly do that. How about the Spence Empty Pocket Fund?
  20. It's ashame that this same dog and pony show is allowed to play out over and over and over again.
  21. The problem is the lawyers make no effort to actually find the truth. It's all about stirring up shit to cloud the issue and get paid.
  22. I disagree. It's a whole lot better, if there is a loss, that it's shared by everyone instead of the organizers. Other wise after one or two events gone bad and no organizer could afford to keep putting together events. Now, if someone gets a rep for events being canceled then we have another issue. I can tell you this, with no more then I've cleared doing events and the state of the economy and my current financial position, if I had one go really bad and the jumpers didn't step up to help out I couldn't do another one. It's easier for many to give up $20 then one to loose thousands.
  23. For fuck sake, It wasn't even his first jump. I hope the family goes broke and Steve counter sues.
