  5. Boogie Club Events Pete Marsden’s Boogie Club is again running low cost skydiving events in the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates. The Desert Boogie in Umm Al Quwain is out of the monster 130-place AN12 tailgate aircraft at 14,000 feet (last lift 16,000 feet). Dates are Friday 12 - Saturday 20 March 2004, return flight is from Heathrow and accommodation is at the Bin Majid Beach Resort including breakfast and dinner each day. Load organisers will be available for flat flying and freefly at all levels. Extra days can be arranged if you wish to see Dubai. The Karlovy Vary Boogie, 14-20 August, offers a Turbolet going to 13,000 feet with accommodation from camping to five star hotels. This cheap and cheerful event is an ideal first time boogie. 01932 701321 pete@boogieclub.co.uk

  18. But the qualification or licence you award is different from a BPA one. As i understand it, it will take take these non BPA students more jumps than the BPA system. BPA AFF cat 8 and FAI A (British standard) takes minimum 18 jumps. If you are awarding the FAI A international it takes minimum 25 jumps amongst other things so does the USPA FAI A. Both also require the student to have "completed five group freefall skydives involving at least two participants" [2004 SIM]. The problem arises when people who for what ever reason do not finish foreign systems come back to the UK to be told that they have to redo or have a check out jump. I have seen this happen alot at different DZ's from students who have returned from France, Italy and Spain. It is not also guaranteed that a student is accepted as is stated in the BPA ops manual: " Student Parachutists trained outside the BPA system will be at the discretion of the CCI. " My opinion of this is that while AFF is the answer, as it has been designed to be completed in quick succession, which normally best suits the weather abroad, it is better for all concerned that BPA qualifactions are awarded. Why risk it?
