  1. I believe I am very Altitude aware. That has never been a problem for me (knock on wood). We were about 20 seconds into the skydive - my partner was wearing a chest mount alti. and an audible. (no I am not relying on partner for awareness). My first glance... Maybe 6-6.5 grand. Give my brain a few seconds to translate the problem, and get my partners attention. She said I turned to track and pull at about 5 grand. Safe?
  2. Bruised Tailbone. Unfortunately that area takes a long time to heal. That just gives me incentive to work on my landings. Bruises almost every weekend, but I bruise easily.
  3. It's always good to not panick - also I am glad I was with one of the best! I was a little worried about the final approach and landing, but it was good to use my judgement and to know I CAN DO IT!
  4. I weigh about the same as you. Height: 5'9" I started with weights between 6-8 lbs. My new jumpsuit is made to help me fall faster. Nylon front, very tight fit. When I went to a Easter Scramble jumping with people I had never jumped with before...several big guys, I wore about 12 lbs. That worked really well. At the tunnel I had about 9-10 lbs and my coach advised I wear more weight. He sold me a really nice weight belt and I bought 12 lbs of weight at a dive shop. Perfect for jumping with fast falling skydivers. As far as the landings, I think it helped that I did a gradual increase to get use to the faster landing. Belt is better than vest - especially if you have shoulder or neck issues. The vest seemed to irritate my shoulders. The belt weight is also movable - to the front more so than your back.
  5. It was having moving issues for a few months. I think it had been dropped one too many times. When I got on the plane - I adjusted it to -0- and then tapped it. Usually when I tap it - it moves. Not good practice - I should have had someone look at it weeks ago. It stayed at 10,500 and when I hit it, it went to 6,000. I was still about 1,000 feet off at that point. I had someone look at it when I got down, and brought it up for a test - still about 1,000 feet off. I assume it has an internal crack - that is what someone said could be the problem. In that case, it is un-usable. I think it is a Saffire - borrowed from my date. It's old.
  6. This weekend jumping out at 10,500 after about 20 seconds I check my altimeter and it was still at 10,500. I showed my partner - she then showed me we were at about 5 grand and tracked off to pull. Needless to say - It was a great lesson on Altitude awareness, being able to judge the landing pattern, and make sure the equipment is working properly. Don't jump with something that is not working perfectly. I bought a new Altimeter today! The malfunctioning one will be retired. It is old and not working properly.
  7. My parents are happy to see that I have found something I enjoy. They both have fun asking people/friends "who out of our five kids do you think is skydiving" Of course I am the last person everyone guesses. Surprise! They both enjoy hearing about the experiences - but I find myself talking about it all the time. I wonder if that annoys people. "There was this one time at Skydive Oregon....." I think my Dad would like to try a Tandem - but he will make all the excuses he can of why he won't. My mom - NO WAY. My brother - I gave him his down payment for his tandem for his birthday last October. He still has not redeemed his gift - but he will. The rest of the family ask - "Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?" BECAUSE I CAN
  8. Good Morning Miami is not a Florida show. It is actually a comedy sitcom on NBC after Will & Grace and Scrubs.
  9. Did anyone catch Good Morning Miami show last night. There was a funny tandem scene at the end of the show. Not sure where the footage came from, but they showed two guys in the plane - the one guy really nervous. Scary - they showed them hooking up standing right at the door of the airplane. They jump out and the tandem instructor was trying to get the guy to apologize for some disagreement at the office before he would Pull. Comment.... is the ground getting closer?
  10. I don't have the equipment to put the video on line. The pictures are from a video camera, but are photo shots. My zoom made it hard to video 15K feet away......hmmmm.
  11. Here are some shots from Saturday, December 14th. 316 - Record - Biggest Skydive formation! Way to go! It was amazing to witness. Fun jumping was good too!
  12. Thanks for the pictures. Looking forward to being there in person - Thursday. -more pictures?
