Holy hell, Ray... You finally lost it. Come visit us down here and we can arrange some... therapy. Lots of cool objects to play with.[;)

RIP We had our fun...

I use a small mesh slider for all of my slider up jumping. For everything from 2 seconds at the Perrine, to full-on terminal, the small mesh has performed flawlessly and I have had no heading issues. Be careful in that delay range. Be on it and be ready for things to get squirrely. Welcome back brother.

The bartack can be specific to the application. If the bartack start/stop is at one end, and will be loaded from a particular side, the start and stop needs to be on the side away from the load so you cannot "peel" the stitching apart. If the start and stop is located at the center of the bartack, pulling on either end of the bartack will not peel the stitching apart. Look at the way the load will be taken, and place the start/stop accordingly. For example, if you're trying to prevent two layers of fabric from peeling apart (a pocket?), put the start/stop on the end away from the junction of the two pieces. When you try to peel the layers apart, the start and stop point should be most distant from where the peel is occurring. You can do a very nice "bartack" with a zigzag. Does that make sense?

This is going to be a tough one. See you guys there...

Lee, give me a call when you get a chance.

Go to google, type in "motion detector" and then click "Images"

Thanks Tim.

I'm actually living in Northern California now.

I would like one. I miss her...

We are back in Clyde River. We had some excellent jumping conditions and then the weather closed in and is looking to stay bad for a few days. I talked to one outfitter whose brother(?) took Lee out. I'm sure he's okay, but he was up in Gibbs and we were in Sam Ford. I'll post if I hear any more about him.

I'll tell him hello if I see him tomorrow. ...hehe....

I have video of that incident. That was Yosemite. I was just making sure there wasn't an incident in Yellowstone.
-
What incident was that?

Graduates of which FJC? If a student spends a day packing with me, they'll be among the neater BASE packers out there.

The list is compiled from reports that find their way to Nick. If a fatality is not reported to the media or fails to reach Nick through other channels, it won't appear on the list. I wouldn't be suprised if there have been fatalities that never found their way onto the list. There are people jumping all over the world, not all of whom regularly use the internet. If there was a small crew that experienced a fatality and had no reason to report it to the global BASE community, it's not outside the realm of possibility that it would stay under the radar. Also, the list isn't entirely in chronological order.

I will be there for breakfast tomorrow morning. See you all there. Edit: Adam, drive to TF. We need to hang out! (bring the little green man)

One Federal Gold Medal Match .308 cartridge= $0.97 One Tomahawk Cruise Missile= um... something on the order of $1,000,000.00?

I shoot long distance .308 too and I'm very impressed with this shot. (JohnRich, you already know everything I'm about to type but this information is for those not familiar with just how difficult and scientific long distance shooting is.) There's a huge difference between hitting the 10 ring on a (one way) known distance range with wind flags, and the shot we're reading about. This sniper made a shot at unknown range, in urban wind conditions (probably gusty), under pressure, and on a hostile, half covered, elevated target. I'd say that's a damn impressive shot. Snipers are great at what they do, but every once in a while one makes a shot that is the stuff of legend. This would have been a good shot with a .50 SASR. At 1000 yards, a 168 grain Sierra MatchKing bullet will drop over 250" if zeroed at 600 yards. Being in Ramadi, I would think they're using a closer zero, but I'm not sure. I've been there and I don't think I'd want to be using holds for all typical engagement ranges there. (If the rifle is zeroed at 300 yards, the drop at 1000 is more like 370") 1000 yards also means over 100" of drift in a 10 mile per hour crosswind. So we're talking about clicking in almost 8 MOA and then compensating for wind drift (like two body lengths worth) and then compensating for an uphill shot, say 15 degrees so he's holding a foot and a half under for the bullet POI change... all in the middle of a firefight! And that's only for 1000 yards. I have absolutely no idea what a .308 bullet does past 1000 yards. I'm damn impressed. It would be interesting to re-create the shot and see just how difficult the simple ballistics would be. I'm guessing it would take me half an hour to figure everything out to the point where I could even get a bullet in the ballpark. (If anyone spots an error in my numbers please let me know so I can check my range cards. Thanks)

Come get it asshole. Edit: To anyone who does not personally know Mike, I'd suggest asking around before you draw any conclusions from this thread.

Right Michael... I can't remember the last time you did anything you said you were going to do. I do remember being woken up at 2 AM to jump a building in gusty (unsafe) winds. Even that was a couple months ago. Just because a lot of jumpers don't want to jump with you, doesn't mean we're not jumping without you. You've been unsafe for a very long time and I don't think that being considered a "pussy" by you is going to cost me any loss of sleep. It's hard to feel bad about it, because you never come through anyway. I tried really hard to give you a chance and stuck with you when the rest of the Seattle crew didn't want anything to do with you. Remember those times? What did we get in return? Nothing that I can think of. We had some good times before you slipped back into your little world of alcohol and bad-mouthing everyone you don't get along with. Anyhow. I'm done with you. Later.
