That sounds way rad dude. I want to play too.
-
Absolutely. Want to hook up for a jump?
-
My advice to you, is this: When you're ready to even consider jumping your wingsuit from a cliff, you'll know where the good ones are. They do exist. Does this answer your question?
-
Hey, I love all of you guys (except maybe $kin), but what the hell does this thread have to do with BASE jumping?
-
We are getting close! If you haven't contacted me yet to coordinate a jump, you'll have to do it soon. In a couple of days...
-
I would even go further to only allow BASE jumpers that another jumper you know can vouch for. A ranger could fill out a convincing profile and get access to your forum.
-
If I didn't have a bust there already on my record, I'd love to help. However, if I get popped there again, I'm afraid they'll max me out. That crime carries a maximun sentence of 5 years in jail.
-
I'm pretty sure if I even show up in the meadow with a rig, they're going to lock me up and ask questions later. Damn bust last summer......
-
That's what it looked like. Immediately after opening, you have to take your toggles and pull them down to a point that corresponds with the deep brake setting. After that, if there's a toggle hang-up the canopy will not surge when you clear it. From the video it looks like you had time to do a flat braked left turn but that puts you on a perfect line with the ditch. Good job not making a panic turn... just glad I've never had to land there. On a brighter side, you did start the hike out early, having landed halfway up the talus...hehe... I'm sure you already know all this, I'm just giving you shit.
-
Yeah... that's too funny.
-
I remember when you yelled at me for landing on the road at the Pizza cliff in Moab. Ray: "You landed on the road" Chad: "Is that bad?" Ray: "The road is your out. Your primary landing area is below." Chad: "It was easier to land on the road." Ray: "It's not always going to be easy so stop using your outs unless you need them. Next time, land down below." Chad: hehe... memories...

I really don't think the rangers will care. It will not overload their resources anyway. When you're arrested for BASE jumping in Yosemite, you're transported to the jail where you're processed and booked. After that, you're placed in a cell. Once this is done, you're free to leave until your court date as long as you have $500 to bail out. If you are found guilty, the $500 is applied to your fine. I imagine if 200 of us go off the rock, they'll herd us up as best they can (I imagine a few will get away since it will be very difficult for them to chase 200 BASE jumpers at the same time) and maybe they'll catch half of us. It would not be hard to put 100 people in a room and charge/book us assembly line style. They will probably not hold anyone in jail as long as we each carry $500 in our pocket to post bail. Oh yeah, there is a midnight cutoff to post bail. Edit: Which means we can all go out and get piss drunk the same evening

Dude... what the hell did you do?
-
It's a Sony DCRTRV-22. MiniDv. I'll try that stuff. Thanx! Edit: It worked! Sick. I owe you a pint, where do you jump?
-
I also use a TRV22. Can you explain in a little more detail how to record to tape? I can only figure out how to record to the memory stick.
-
That sounds like a lot of fun actually.
-
Well, in any case, that's much better than the rumor that was circulating. I'm actually relieved.
-
In this application, the thin cord would be totally fine. You're going to have a hard time if you try to lower them, just because the line is super thin, but if you're just trying to secure them from falling further, you should be cool.
-
It should be adequately strong, technically, but you're going to have a seriously hard time working with it. Like previously mentioned, there are currently no ascenders or descending devices available for such a small diameter line. 8mm cord is about the smallest practical rope diameter for ascending or descending. Go look at some 8mm static line. Sterling ropes makes some incredibly strong thin stuff. It's super lightweight and is thin enough to really freak you out of you're hanging high off the ground with the stuff.
-
I did a lengthy search but I couldn't come up with a cut and dry answer. If you're using a bullet cam, you have to record onto a memory stick or a separate recording device right? You cannot record onto MiniDv tapes correct?
-
I would be interested in a BASE specific First Aid Kit

Aw... shit guys... -
I made a couple phone calls and it appears to be just a rumor. Hopefully it's just that. Maybe if there's no replies to the contrary Tom can take this tread down.

It's you dude! I went there and did a Solo recently and there was not a breath of wind. Nothing. I'm not talking a little breezy but doable. I'm talking nothing. It was pretty rad.
