Okay JT...you asked for it!! Well it had been 3 months since I had jumped. Needless to say, with me being a low-timer I was a nervous wreck. Always have been! I have a long drive to the dz, so I have plenty of time to ponder about the jump I'm hoping to do. By the time I round the last corner to the airport, I pretty much feel like I'm gonna hurl!! Get there around 10 and it's not too busy. Cool! One of my favorite JM's takes his time and goes over my refresher. Bill knows how I get, but it's worse because it's been so long. He uses the hand signal for relax more on the ground than in the air!! We take our time and finally manifest around 2. I told him that if I had more time to think about it, I would land in the plane. We get geared up..now call! OMG!! On the ride to altitude, he gives me a double wet willie!! Needless to say that relaxed me! Right before the door opens a strange smell starts wafting through the plane. Not sure what they had for lunch but it was nasty! DOOR!! Thank god...fresh air! Fun jumpers get out...we crawl to the door. my buddy Harold decides to hang onto the door for a few seconds and make faces at me...finally lets go. I climb in the door..check in, prop, up, down, arch!! Awesome exit, I see the plane leave and Bill across the sky!! Woo Hoo!! I'm back!! We play around and I pull a little high because it's been so long. Sweet canopy ride down. I'm on final...I flare at the right moment, I bury the toggles...then all of a sudden..a thermal...back up I go and slam into the ground! Ouch! I make sure I have all my teeth and everything is still intact...I stand up and have the biggest smile on my face that I've had in long time!! Twas a beautiful day, a beautiful skydive with an awesome friend.
