  1. Rodeo, Personaly, I'd love to live in Indiana, or anywhere else in the country, but I'm stuck in Upper Michigan living with my mom. You may live with your parents, but be glad that you don't have 6ft of snow 9months out of the year. Peace. Blue Skies, Chad
  2. Wingnut, You're gonna love jumping from an ultralight. I had the opportinity 2 years ago at Carolina Sky Sports thanksgiving boogie. It was awesome, like a balloon jump, no relative wind. Peace. Blue Skies, Chad
  3. Sure the gold three ring system idea is cute, but I don't think it would hold up too well under opening shock.
  4. I agree with skybytch. that old stuff is fun to play with, but even I don't jump it on a regular basis. look through the classifed. there's over 100 complete rigs for sale right now. i just bought a 3 year old reflex in perfect condition for $300. there's all kinds of deals on there. you just have to look for them. Peace. Blue Skies, Chad
  5. Cloud9, Thanks for the support! I think it would do everyone a little good if they could get out there and see how it all began. You're right about the landings too. I've landed alot harder under a square than I ever did under a round. Peace. Blue Skies, Chad
  6. hey, that's great! My girlfriend is also a skydiver. She started about 2 years after me. It's awesome to be in a relationship where you really have something in common. Good Luck. Blue Skies, Yooper
  7. TripleF, Sorry about the name situation. I neglected to read the rest of the posts before I replied. I hope you get your name back, without resorting to marriage. Peace. Blue Skies, Chad
  8. Personally I like Casa's. I love the giant cargo door. Blue Skies, Chad
  9. Propblast, Unfortunately, my dz has extensive amounts of old gear. We are a really small dz and can't afford top of the line equipment. But even amongst my fellow Yoopers, I am considered insane. Peace. Blue Skies, Chad
  10. Newguy, Sounds great. I got the old gear covered, but I don't drink anymore. And you better make it soon, I'm sellng my pistol to pay for my new rig. Peace Blue Skies, Yooper
  11. skybytch, I agree, the guys who started back in the day deserve a great amount of respect. I often wonder how many of us would have even started jumping if we were around back in the days of round mains and bellywarts. Blue Skies, Yooper
  12. Glad to hear you'll be back in the air soon. I went through a similar situation with a broken collarbone last year, so I can sympathize. Peace. Blue Skies, Yooper
  13. bill, we use dc-5's for water jumps all the time. sorry your canopy decided tocross the border. chad
  14. Freefallfreak, You said that you jump in Witchita? You don't by any chance know Travis Doolittle? He started jumping with me in Upper Michigan and moved down there a year or two ago, just curious. Blue Skies

    demo-ing gear

hey, anyone have any idea how long the list is for a cobalt? It tried to get their demo request form from their website, but I can't download anything with Webtv. Blue Skies
  16. Patkat, Hey, you say that you've jumped a wonderhog? We have one of those at my dz ad it's one of our best pieces of rental gear. My girlfriend jumps it all the time.
  17. Congrats, keep um comin. Blue Skies
  18. I think you're right about the hybrid being a crew canopy. I have about 100 jumps on a Tri 190 and about 100 on a Tri 160 and only about 5 on a Tri 120. I believe this to be one of the best canopies for someone just coming off student status. Like soeone mentioned in a previous post, they can be very docile and forgiving, but at the right wingloading they can be swooped in pretty good. They also pack really nice. Don't be suprised by the opening though. It opens really soft, but can take a good 800ft to fully inflate. Blue Skies
  19. I've seen my share of broken bone's and sprains, but the only time that something really affected me was when I was on a jump with my dad and he had to pull his reserve. I think I was more scared than he was. Anyway, after witnessing an event like that, you have to ask yourself if you can live the rest of your life on the ground. You may live to be 100 years old or you might get hit by a car the next day. Personally, I would rather die flying, than live the rest of my life as a flatlander. Blue Skies
  20. It's not as crazy as it sounds. All the gear is repacked and inspected by my rigger before I jump it and I get the proper training I need before jumping anything unfimiliar. 21. I think the closest wind tunnel to you is in tennesee. I can't remember the name of the town, but I was there about a year ago. Sorry can't be more help. Oh, one more thing, DON'T PUT OFF LEARNING TO SKYDIVE!! DO IT NOW!! You can always declare bankrupcy.
  22. Hey everyone, I'm new to the forums, but I figured I might as well jump right into the action. I don't know about anyone else, but I get a kick out of searching through the storage closets at my dz and pulling out the oldest, scariest shit I can find, straping it on, and jumping it. I recently jumped a round from 1952, with a bellywart reserve. It was the dz owners very first rig. So, anyone else share my whacked behavior? Chad
  23. froggie, I've never met you or your cousin, but as skydivers, we are family. I wish you strength and courage, and I'll be sure to give your cousin a wave next time I'm in the plane.
