Obviously, there are some psychological issues with some of the persons you mentioned. However, assuming a situation where the person "hears from God" in some way and they're not insane,... "Hearing from god" defines insanity. If one talks to an invisible friend, they are not too tigtly wrapped. If it is a two-way conversation, they are psychotic.

Which is why you sit confused and some do not. God created the universe and the laws of physics that govern it. Lovers of God do not get a special pass exempting them form the vicissitudes of life. God did promise however that He would never leave or forsake us. That is in contention for the being the dumbest thing I have ever heard. I am impressed that anyone can even say something that stupid without appearing to be embarrassed.
-
Now, was this a communication from God? No. If it makes you happy to conclude so, fine. It is, however, nonsense.

Each and every double-blind test of the "power of prayer" has shown it to have precisely no effect whatsoever. None.

One's disbelief in something has no effect on its reality. Either it is real or it is not regardless of what one believes. You may not believe what the Bible says, however, either you or God is lying in this regard and the Bible says that God cannot lie. It would be against his very nature. So where does that leave us? You have just demonstrated the difference between logical and pathological - though I am quite sure you do not know it. If you could make your point without resorting to half a dozen fallacies of relevance, it might be worth addressing. As it is, your stance is meaningless. BSBD, Winsor

"Glenn Beck compares Norwegian victims to 'Hitler Youth'" -- USA Today
winsor replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
Source: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/07/glenn-beck-compares-norwegian-victims-to-hitler-youth/1 Stay classy, Beck. Glenn Beck said something stupid. What are the chances of that? My guess is that this reduces his chances of getting a Nobel Prize for Being Real Smart. Anyhow, I would rather Glenn Beck never take position in agreement with me, since he has the ability to discredit anything he comes within ten feet of. From what little I know of this clown, he has the singular ability to take verifiable data and put it together in a manner befitting the thinfoil-hat crowd. What a schmuck. BSBD, Winsor -
Given a scumbag politician who forgot to mention their party affiliation, it would be tough to decide whether the pervert was a "D" pervert or an "R" pervert on the basis of their particular transgressions. There's not a dime's worth of difference between them. So this one's a Democrat . IIRC, this guy should have been institutionalized for a laundry list of issues, and this is probably the most "normal" of his transgressions. The fact that he found a fertile female attractive I can understand; the fact that he forgot that doing anything about it was a singularly bad idea is in keeping with his track record in general. Cop threatens to execute driver over concealed weapon permit
winsor replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Is that clear enough for you? Predictable as clockwork. -
The wise and mature person seeks to understand first and not ridicule. You'd think that would be some sort of requirement for a moderator, you know, one who's supposed to "moderate." You appear to overlook the fact that full and complete understanding reveals the attempted logic to be be complete and utter nonsense. If it makes you happy, great - happiness is good. Nonsense is still nonsense, and is by nature ridiculous. Pretending to admire the ridiculous is dishonest. Not knowing the difference between the admirable and the ridiculous is hardly a virtue. But keep your delusions there bubba. Okay, so you exercise your right to criticize. Wonderful. Any suggestions? You know, something positive for a change?

Bibi's Guards Force Female Reporters to Remove Brassieres

Blame Mike Myers for his Austin Powers schtick. -
Thanks, very informative, I am also looking forward to that Mashiach at His second coming. Waiting for Godot, eh?

Allow me to clarify that I simply made reference to Hebrew mythology to illuminate the differences with the MJZ mythos. When we pour wine and leave the door open for Elijah during a Seder, it is for the purposes of tradition only. There is no (read zero) expectation that any approximation of Elijah will actually appear and partake of the wine. Similarly, the traditions regarding the Mashiach are socially important, but are throwbacks to the Late Bronze and Early Iron ages. Jewish tradition, fine. "Faith?," different animal. "Belief?," not in my makeup. There are things I accept, some that I reject, and the catagories are subject to review upon receipt of further data. I do not "believe" anything. BSBD, Winsor

What's your's called? WOW....You are way the fuck outta line bubba Hardly. He rather has it nailed.

I did not read the entire document but, in reference to when the Mashiach will come the last three are close to being made manifest. in a generation that is totally innocent or totally guilty; in a generation that loses hope; in a generation where children are totally disrespectful towards their parents and elders; IMO, jaded, biased, supernatural, metaphysical, NT oriented as it is. Since Christian Scriptures were either the product or under editorial control of Pagans, the overlay of superstition peculiar to the Cult of the MJZ kind of invalidates one's evaluation of things Hebrew. I have done much homework, and would sincerely like to know what criteria the Mosiach needs to meet in order to be accepted by God's chosen people. ... Here is a start. Forgive my transliteration, it shows up as "mashiach" here.

There is an old saying, when you get to the end of it and Jesus is all that you have left, you will find that Jesus is all you need. Belief by its very nature is a commitment to, and acceptance of, ignorance. This is hardly limited to the Magic Jewish Zombie.

Cop threatens to execute driver over concealed weapon permit
winsor replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
He's making an assumption and prediction about how I see every situation in the world when in fact I see almost every case of anything as being an individual case. The problem with far too many people in the world is they see things as being black or white with no room for interpretation based on individual situations. Say all that though you may, in practice you appear as predictable as clockwork. -
Cop threatens to execute driver over concealed weapon permit
winsor replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Ding ding ding! If the victim had been a black, gay, atheist, liberal democrat, quade would be all over it protesting the cop's improper behavior. It's only because the victim was a gun owner that he thinks it's okay for cops to do this. Because, you know, no action is too harsh for those darned gun owners. I'm going to start calling you "The Great Buck Howard" because clearly you ARE a mentalist. You may call him pretty much anything but late for supper, but there does seem to be merit to his observation. -
Proposed Tax Overhauls from "Gang of Six [Senators]"
winsor replied to champu's topic in Speakers Corner
no, it's not -
Nope, Roman. If that is the case, it is pure genius. Not only has the hoax been perpetuated but, it produces the results in the individual that it purports to produce. That is, once the buy in occurs individual lives are changed. "Perception is reality."
-
Again, according to the pagans who sought to claim legitimacy in his name (FWIW). The laws to which Jesus adhered were unaffected by his presence or passing. Do you think it was just an elaborate Jewish hoax designed to enslave the minds of weak Jews and gentiles for then and thousands of generations in the future? Nope, Roman.
-
A question came to mind, how do you tell the difference between false hope and real hope? The results of the election? Keep the change.

It's also interesting to note just how much slack is given to the more liberal posters here. Sure, there's an occasional "Ok...that's enough...last warning. But as you can see, the length of plank one can walk seems to be much longer for some people. Predictability, those with the most leeway tend to be the most obnoxious. On a side note, it is an excellent example of the total depravity/inability of man. As usual, you speak entirely for yourself.

When Jesus cried "It is finished" and gave up His spirit, the curtain of the temple was torn into and the Holy of Holies was revealed to all. Again, according to the pagans who sought to claim legitimacy in his name (FWIW). The laws to which Jesus adhered were unaffected by his presence or passing.
