  1. I have a Dekunu and I managed to get the data into gSwoop, so yeah it's possible. It is however a pain in the ass because the output files have a different structure to the required input files and I had to wrangle the data. No reason why a developer couldn't make it nice and seamless. As for the device, for sure it's got bugs at the moment but the Dekunu team see pretty awesome and they're on it. Bit of a gamble I know but I'm kinda stoked to be involved with something new & interesting.
  2. Ok ok, I know nothing about wingsuiting but I'm looking forward to seeing awesome new stuff!
  3. When will you figure out how to sit fly a wingsuit?!
  4. How about a skydiving safari!?! https://www.facebook.com/skydivediani/
  5. Cool.....interesting times! :-)
  6. Apparently the Dekunu One will have a GPS update frequency between 10 & 18 Hz depending on the settings.
  7. What are places like Molenbeek, Belgium, like? Is Molenbeek, Belgium, a place where police won't go? Is it a place where cars are burned? I actually googled it to see if any politicians had been burned there and found this: "The popular notion that the area is a more brutal version of south-central LA is nothing short of vaudeville. In the weeks I spent here I walked everywhere, at all hours. I confess to having occasionally dawdled on streets with a reputation for petty crime, close to the Brussels-Charleroi Canal, effectively inviting trouble. While it's not an exercise I'd necessarily recommend, the worst that happened to me was that a woman stopped to offer directions." And Belgium is also, just so we're clear, not in the Netherlands. It is a different country. I wouldn't expect a normal american to know that, but I kinda hope the ambassador does. I don't get the point of your point. I don't get the point of this either Molenbeek's fine, I live there....kinda sick of all the bullshit going around right now.
  8. I would say absolutely no to a barrel roll, as has been mentioned elsewhere the fraction of a second it gives you to scan for traffic isn't useful and not worth the risk. Plus there's the risk of heading off on a tangent if you make a mess of it. What can be useful is to transition from a belly to back track take a second to scan for traffic then transition back.....at full power....without losing heading. If you've got this dialed then sure go for it but don't underestimate the maneuver, it's tricky. That said most of the time I'll have checked above me earlier in the break-off (depends on the jump type) and there's no need for these acrobatics. Oh and make sure you actually look where you going, staring past your feet at where you've been may be reassuring but you need to check where you're going to be! Once had a coach tell me about doing layouts in his track and how one time he found a dude tracking behind him on exactly the same heading, but this is some ninja shit and I'm not quite sure he wasn't pulling my leg!
  9. Totally reasonable to stand up landing no wind landings with this wing. I had Pilots in varying sizes from 190 to 150 from jumps 7 through to 186 and butt sliding was a rare occurrence. At my DZ we land with the arrow regardless of the wind direction to crosswind landings are the norm which is a similar deal no wind landing. Interestingly I had my lines shortened with a story pretty much exactly like yours, however I then realised that I should stick my whole fist through the toggles not just my first two fingers (DOH) and eventually ended up getting the lines lengthened.
  10. Egypt’s education minister has ordered students to respect the Egyptian flag or risk jail time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/sep/25/egyptian-students-respect-flag-risk-prison This flag stuff is all the rage for dictators perhaps Trump picked up a few ideas from Sisi when he visited!
  11. 2010's aint over yet, so maybe scratch that one off and double check that trend of yours!
  12. I have a Speed 120 in my V306 which fits well I doubt a 135 would be a good idea. I bought my Speed 120 from somebody who had it in a V303 and it was horribly tight (still worked thought), hence the they were selling it.
  13. Dude, Your survey making skill are somewhat lacking, maybe try a few "doesn't need's" or even better we just let this damn topic die already.
  14. Dude looking to downsize from a ZPX 188 https://www.facebook.com/groups/2ndhandforsale/permalink/1338216936294453/?sale_post_id=1338216936294453
  15. http://www.uptvector.com/products/sport/measuring/measuring-guide/item/measuring-guide For Vector but I guess it will be similar for other manufacturers, I guess +/- an inch or so and you'll be fine?
  16. That is terrifyingly amazing!
  17. Even better I checked the some of the numbers and it seems the article is out by a factor of 10 so 27 Million tonnes rather than 245 million tonnes....classic!
  18. The whole premise of this article seems to be that nobody is doing life-cycle analysis (LCA) for renewable energy sources. A quick google returned loads of hits and the first LCA paper cited a further 27 LCA's. Since the central premise is sketchy, at best, I really can't be bothered to dig into the other dodgy crap the author is banging on about.
  19. I reckon you could pick up a decent+complete second hand rig for around $3500 including an AAD. That summer special deal doesn't cover an AAD so if you're into that kind of thing you'll spend ~$5000. I know new stuff is pretty but you'll probably be able to sell the second hand gear after a few hundred jumps for close to the price you pay for it. Ask around grab some second hand gear and just jump it for a bit while you decide what gear you really like.
  20. Best option is the free camping, they lay on electric hook-ups too. Beware the industrial strength but delicious beer and locals that party hard!
  21. Managed to put a few jumps on a Crossfire 3 - 109 last week so here are a few first impressions. For reference my last 500 jumps have all been under Sabre 2's the last 100 under a Sabre 2 107 which I load at 1.6-1.7, I'm a million miles away from being a canopy piloting master and max turn is a 90. Openings were great, soft on heading and not super snively Harness input was a joy compared to my Sabre 2, the wing felt significantly more responsive yet at the same time solid and stable. Although the same size as my regular canopy it felt smaller and more agile The flare, didn't have to think about it really but I stopped so it must be fine! The recover arc actually seemed to be about the same as my Sabre 2 but the front riser pressure seemed higher, was a little disappointed I couldn't get it to dive more. Only did 4 jumps so I was far from getting familiar with the wing and kept coming out high so no rear risers for the landing. Up high they elicited a nice snappy response, didn't try and see how much it would take to stall it. Hope this was helpful, going to try out a KA and whatever else I can get my hands on this summer to see how they all stack up.
  22. The fantastic duo Al & Pixie now have NZ Aerosports Canopies along with their usual Vectors at the UPT tent, they will be taking them on tour this summer, including the Flanders Boogie. The SIFE guys have the demo canopies in their rigs so you get a double demo experience! I will find one of the crossfire 3 threads and add a few words, don't get you hopes up too much at the prospect of my inexperienced ramblings. ;-)
