Do you think Obama will make some good changes in our economy?
brokenwing replied to real1324's topic in Speakers Corner
somehow i fail to see the problem with providing some of the money for stock dividends -- damn man that is where a healthy part of my income comes from -

you did not have the option in your survey He will be re-elected Will not take much to demonstrate success and as the dinosaurs die out the next vote will show a majority of even more than the current 8+ million. The winner of this election was the candidate that showed intelligence and the greatest potential for leadership. McCain lost the day the republicans forced palin on him -- the demographics of this country do not want creationism, book burning, or a vice president that makes quayle appear as an intellect.

if you think she was a bad pick now -- wait until we see the results of the alaskan election for senator -- if stevens is re-elected and -- even bigger if -- congress boots him for convictions then the govenor of alaska is legally entitled to select his replacement -- golly gee i wonder whom she will select -- u betcha!!! same speculation is going on in illinois -- sorry but i havent kept up with who it is but the chicago downtown airport was closed by the govenor defying federal directives -- he simply had the runway bulldozed -- details are probably still up on the AOPA site. we just need more creationist leaders to guide us along the straight and narrow.

actually the mortgage scheme was thought up by -- i believe a republican congress back in 1999 where they forced fannie mae to accept higher risk loans so that everyone could purchase a house. the abuse started when those main streeters felt they -- no matter that their income could not support it -- deserved all the new bright and shiny things they saw others possessing. the results we currently see are not just from mortgages but the overall consumer credit abuse which those neolithics embarked on.

i believe it is called evolution. McCain lost because the republican party is no longer has a conservative business but has become a repository for evangelical creationists -- the world has been around longer than 6000 years. The party no longer understands that the fundamental demographics of the country have been shifting since the late 1990s -- look at the education levels of the blue states -- all are in the upper 20% or higher for completing college and the populations centers are in the same areas. Example: Virginia -- where about 90% of the districts voted red but those few in the northern state with the greatest population carried the vote. The country is moving to a human capital focus that values knowledge and technology -- evolution is a painful process for those species unable to adapt but it is necessary for the growth of those of us capable.

Who Is the Worst U.S. President of the Modern Era?
brokenwing replied to flyhi's topic in Speakers Corner
you did not have an option of all of the above -
1999 congress forced fannie mae to accept zero down payment loans and also those with little or no documentation -- meaning the borrower did not need to prove their income. this was in the face of events from the mid 80s when the zero down payment mortgage was dropped because of increasing foreclosures. for years main street america has been told their debt was far too high and their savings far too low. main street america has an obsessive fascination with bright and shiny -- to better impress their peers and others -- look at how the iphone sold on its first day, not to mention the sales of hdtv's, suv's etc.etc,... this crash was coming for years -- remarkable how good hindsight is -- but the blame does not rest with industry -- there is NO market without a buyer. If anyone really wants to see where blame should be placed -- look in the closest mirror. am i opposed to the $700 Billion equities investment (yes note i did not say bailout -- read the text of the bill)? yes but only because i feel disgusted that everytime main street america gets its ego centric arrogant & self serving asses in trouble they expect the government to bail them out and then whine about how hard they have it. personally i would rather do a roosevelt -- let the houses go into foreclosure and put those people out in a WPA effort.

What to do if you can't get back in formation?
brokenwing replied to pirana's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
responsibility of the person going low -- NEVER EVER dump in the others' faces -- how you avoid that has many options. i had the experience of watching a PC (yea a long time back) open close up -- would never get in the plane w/that guy again -- maybe harsh but always thought it is my ass. -
What other "vintage" rigs were jumped? I made a few jumps there back in the 70s

incredible and very creative but.....parachutes do rip and you seem to have way too much fun with a malfunction -- i'm jealous mine always been limited to a simple damn as the reserve pilot chute bounced off the main's risers -
invest in a case (or 2) of beer -- preferably the cheapest available bring it to your DZ next time stick around after jumping and as the evening progresses you will find wisdom thru listening unfortunately many of the truly great ones are no longer with us but there will still be nuggets for your consumption
