  1. Or trip over to the UK - where a big non-SV tunnel can offer realistic training Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  2. aww thanks! I am really pleased with it - a huge credit to David+Darren from Narnya and Chris at Flamegreen.
  3. We have been asked on several occasions to provide better video / media from the tunnel and the World Challenge... So to that aim we have launched our new website with streaming media archive etc.... welcome comments or feedback good or bad! We will be adding the World Challenge compilations shortly also... For anyone interested the history we have a short film on yhe prior use of Vertical Tunnels too Enjoy!
  4. Hi.. We are open - as normal.... Building open from 9am-11pm Weds-to-Sun
  5. Hiya all, After a record effort from our propeller manufacturer - we are now fully operational again! Although the original estimate from the factory was 4 weeks - they have managed to complete in less than two and we can now resume flying. Apologies to those bookings we had to re-arrange or cancel. Give us a call on 0845 200 2960 if you would like to reschedule time etc.
  6. Thanks Gavin, Encouragingly our first feedback is showing that the turnaround time may not be as long as we were thinking it might be. The prop guys have got straight onto the working and we may be back in action by about the 5th July!! Although at this stage I am speculating a little - will let you all know for sure in a couple of days
  7. Unfortunately so... As of last night we have a meaurement that is out of limits - so have removed the prop and it is now en-route to Germany. The overhall will take between 2-3 weeks depending on the turnaround at the the factory Will update as soon as we can resume operation. Again - sorry to those we have had to dissapoint. 8. Hi all, Thought I would pre-empt the wild gossip that goes around when it comes to this sort of thing.... Sadly - for 3 weeks in July we will not be taking bookings. Since we opened we have flown a staggering 2600+ hours and our prop has to have maintenance. Which we are having to bring forward. We are fully booked and will continue running until the 3rd July .. so this means we cannot take new bookings for flying before 1st August. We had planned for this downtime to only take 1 day - as we have a second propeller in manufacture... but as the running hours have moved so quickly this wont be ready fast enough.... hence the downtime while the existing prop is serviced is larger. Appologies to any that had planned to fly and wont now be able to book Regards Paul

    Heat

I have to agree it would be nicer if the power were free Just in case youre interested in the actuals... our ratio of cooling to power is the same, but it actually takes slightly less cooling than the motor running (ie the motor is not 100% effiecent etc) also you get a little benefit with a low ambient etc. Fortunately for us also our heat exchange coils simply replaced the air straightening filters so they go towards making the airflow better without too much power loss Knowing the benefits / costs it would be a tough decision of which way to go if I were building from scratch in a new tunnel....
  10. you would have trouble building a nice house for that! Multiply by 20-30 and it would be more the normal mark
  11. Thanks for the review John, was a pleasure to watch you guys train... and remember if you ever need coaching I am your man (i wish) Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  12. FYI - the super cool pair are going to be with us in Bedford from the 3rd-7th June and available for coaching.... Give them a yell if you want to fly with these guys - I would recommend for sure if you are looking to improve your FF skills
  13. Crikey... was that the planned route on that jump? Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  14. I know quite a few 4way teams that never look at an Alti... they wear audibles and the chances of all 4 failing is fairly small. An audible is a fairly sensible back-up device especially for us tunnel people Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  15. Nice one Craig... I hadnt got to see that yet - so appreciate the upload! There will be a full 30min programme made soon also - and we have a more footage based compilation we are having made too. Was incredible the skills shown so we want people to get to see it all for sure!

  17. As far as I am aware... there are really only two that have been involved in multiple facilities.. Skyventure - www.skyventure.com and our partners in Switzerland Bodyflying AG - www.bodyflying.ch There have been quite a few people though that have been involved in individual facilities - and are also able offering services. Dawn's site has alot of details www.bodyflight.net and of course if you want to see the pinacle of engineering check out our site www.bodyflight.co.uk Crikey! thats alot of URLS! 18. Good for you! - I have been told that after a few days that the addiction is no longer physical but mental... so you can beat that keep it going!
  19. Well, if you are going to be picky - your punctuation is sadly lacking. Capital 'I' please and 'bosses' means plural rather than boss's belonging to Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  20. On behalf of all the staff at Bodyflight - and the whole of the UK - I will appologise greatly for subjecting you to meeting Nigel So sorry Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  21. The article says.. Which I reckon is just about good enough for lighter people... (50m/s = 111mph) as far as I am aware the largest science tunnel is the NASA Langley one at 20feet.... just a shame that they dont have enough speed to fly in! - I reckon at a 20foot diameter there could be some really interesting big ways! 22. If you are paying by the hour I dont suppose we'd care Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  23. I wouldnt rule it out - but as with anything with increased dangers... I would need to be confident that we have evaluated the risks and mitigated any possible issues first. To be fair also... I would probably want someone with quite a few years experience to do it first also Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
  24. Contact us of course! you can email us at mailto:reception@bodyflight.co.uk or give us a call on 0845 200 2960
  25. Jesus! - this is starting to sound a little outlandish! - that must using the nuclear power to run Bodyflight Bedford www.bodyflight.co.uk
