Bones And Shit Everywhere.

Because the embassy wasn't attacked, the mortars landed several blocks away. Plus, using the words "apparently targeting" is very subjective and gives no conclusive insight into the real nature or intention of the "attack". In all likely hood the US embassy was the target, but that still doesn't mean it was attacked. Just my opinion however. It is always healthy to question the media though. JP.

My instructors said exactly the same thing when I finished AFF (must be an Aussie thing). I ended up buying a 170 and put 140 jumps on it, then bought a 150. I'm glad I went about it this way because I had some well funky landings during those jumps and was glad I had the extra fabric over my head. Plus, you CAN fly a 170 at 1.1 and have fun - you can even get a bit of a swoop. I know 140 jumps isn't a lot to put on a canopy, but by the end I was front-risering nearly every landing, some down and cross wind, and getting fun, fast landings... but on the other hand, a 150 would go faster You pay your money, you take your chances

In Australia, a packer B rating means you can pack any main parachute (tandem, student etc). Packer A is a reserve parachute rating. These ratings are usually obtained by completing a course with a qualified rigger/packer. I guess the ABA wants potential BASE jumpers to know everything they possibly can about packing skydiving canopies before they get involved in BASE. Makes sense to me.

Keep it there and learn how to get it out fast. What you'll really want it for is if you have a line-over on your reserve, but there are certainly other situations in which you'll be glad to have one. Chances are you'll never need it, but if you ever do and you don't have it, well...

The best advice I can give you (I'm sure you've had it before) is RELAX. Exit on a 5 sec delay is no different than one from height, except for the psychological factor. It sounds almost like you're flinching with your legs when exiting. I always find that visualizing what I plan to do helps a lot. Think about letting go of the plane and flying straight off the door. Be aggressive with those legs and maintain visual contact with the aircraft. I just step off and watch the plane. Remember, you're not "screwing up" so much as learning. Keep positive and it will all come together.

I don't drink pepsi max or fancy myself as any sort of movie star god. I answered a question honestly. I enjoy pulling low on occasion and will more than likely do it again. I know the risks and try to "control" them. If this affects you in any way feel free to continue being shocked and offended I also run with scissors, drive fast, climb cliffs, take glass bottles into the pool and smoke cigars.

A couple months ago I took advantage of an empty DZ and smoked it down to 1300. I think I was releasing the brakes around 1000. I've been down that way a few other times as well... Okay, cypress off, nose un-rolled, lets rock!

I bought a Parachutes Australia Talon 2 T2 DOM 2000 and put just over 120 jumps on it. I loved it and never had a problem at allpaces on more than one jump . I certainly put it through its but it always performed. What I liked the most was the ease of packing - especially the closing sequence - and the complete bridal protection. Most modern rigs have these features, but for me the Talon is very user friendly. Basically I think it is a good rig for all diciplines. Go hard.

(PCSS) Poor College Student Skydivers. Who's in?

Add me. I just bought a new rig and cannot afford to jump it this weekend. -
I did a search and couldn't find anything related to this. I recently bought a second hand javelin J1 and have a question regarding the reserve flap. On this model, the reserve flap does not tuck into the main mid flap like it does on the newer models. Obviously this new modification was introduced to make the flap more secure while freeflying. The rigger I bought it from (15000+ jumps) said the J1 is fine for sit/stand flying. Does anyone have experience freeflying this rig and know if the flap is at all prone to coming open? Cheers, Jesse.

Am I the only one who feels lost and bewildered by the new forum changes?

There is one guy I know of who has been told that he is not welcome back at my home DZ. This was due to him consistently pulling below 800 feet. First time he did it he was grounded, then first jump back he smoked it again. Personally, I'm all for low pulling but it was decided he was too much of a liability. Oh yea, and I'm told that he static lined a local 220 foot bridge slider up with a skydiving rig (he did remove the D-bag however) and subsequently sniveled into the river below at high speed, ruining the cypres he had not bothered to remove. This revelation did not help his considerable image problem around the DZ.

Either VB or Crown Lager...anything else and your safety cannot be guaranteed

It seems as if the voices of reason have spoken so it must be time for my nonsensical bleatings...ground rush at 2200 is fun but it's better at 1200...just don't roll the nose as much and turn your cypres off

I run 10 miles 2-3 times a week and weight train the other days. Damn full time study has been slowing me down a lot though, some weeks I'm good, some weeks I'm a lazy fat arse!

I agree, I want my kids to grow and have freedom and a good quality of life. I don't want it to happen at the expense of innocent Iraqi children, no matter how f@$#ed up Saddam is. I think it is too easy to get caught up in protecting ourselves at the cost of others...American lives are not worth more than others me thinks. Now at the risk of an exponential increase in un-popularity, I find it ironic that the only country currently making express threats to another nation is the U.S, under the guise of "pre-emption". I agree that Saddam is not someone who I would trust with nukes, but if the sole purpose of this possible action is to remove weapons form dangerous leaders then perhaps the pressure needs to be applied more evenly around the globe...say Israel maybe. They may not be a danger to America but I bet some Arabs feel pretty edgy about their nuclear program. Bring on the flames.

Those guns strapped to her thighs sure did it for me in Tomb Raider, however, Jennifer definitely has much more sex appeal and class. Angelina is too pasty and poutty.
