My father in law goes a bit overboard with his condiments. For example, he covers his waffles with just about anything (butter, cream cheese, honey, jelly... AND syrup!) and pours shreadded cheddar cheese on his bran flakes in the morning! One time he put brown mustard (not the weak yellow stuff) on his apple pie. Out of shear curiosity, I tired it... and it wasn't half bad. Sort of like the cheddar cheese on apple pie that some people like, the tart mustard balanced the sweet pie. I tried it again recently with a different kind of mustard that was more spicey and it wasn't good at all so you have to use a brown mustard that isn't too spicey. No matter what, I'll never eat what my wife ate when she was preggo. That's probably a whole different topic to discuss, but pickled okra and cottage cheese is not pretty! We had T-Day at my mom's yesterday (we'll be at the inlaws next week). I've gotten into BBQing and smoking recently so I tried smoking a turkey at my mom's. (Insert 'how do you keep it lit' joke here.) I soaked it in brine for two days then smoked it for about 7 hours. I don't want to toot my own horn... but fu(kin' TOOT TOOT! It turned out awesome! The best part about smoking one is that all you have to do is put down your beer every half hour or so to go out and check on it. After 7 hours, I was about as done as the bird! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

Tell him that sound his sister makes while you're boning her sure is funny. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

I have an idea. Why don't you play Hide and Go Fu(k Yourself. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

I’m “retired” as well. Karen’s post sums up a lot of my thoughts, but the biggest thing for me was the risk vs. reward issue. For me, BASE was a choice and like most big choices in my life I looked at all the variables, pros and cons, etc. (I guess that’s just the analytical engineer in me.) At first, the rewards didn’t seem big enough to outweigh the perceived risks, but after I did some ground crew for a few friends and went to bridge day just to watch, I finally understood the risks better and realized that the rewards were a lot more significant than I had originally thought. I loved every minute of my short lived BASE “career” and every one of my 90 jumps was “worth it”. That was a different time in my life though and the variables have changed since then. I had to re-evaluate where I was at in life and what I wanted. I started really questioning if the risks were still worth the rewards, not because the rewards were any less (in fact they were only getting better), but because I was risking a lot more. In the end I determined that all the good things I got from BASE weren’t worth the potential for bad things. That was my call. It’s what worked for me. Just like my decision to start, I had to make my own decision if/when to stop based on the variables that affected me. BASE is all about personal decision, just like life. You have to choose what you want to do then stick with the good and bad aspects of that choice. I still think about BASE a lot and still have a big desire to jump. I miss the trips and adventures that make those one-of–a-kind close friendships. Fortunately, most of my BASE friends were skydiving friends before and we’re still all really close. We’ve always respected (or at least put up with) each other decisions both in jumping and in life, so they don’t look down on me for “leaving” or “giving up”. I may jump again someday if the variables change again, but for now I've made my choice and I'm sticking to it. Whatever you choose, it’s your choice and as long as you’ve given it a lot of thought, those around you can’t really judge you. Maybe that old saying bout “BASE is to skydivers what skydiving is to wuffos” should have another part about how BASE jumpers see retired BASE jumpers the same as wuffos see skydivers? "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

Damn, this work stuff keeps distracting me from all the daydreaming about Dollar Daze! I'll be there in just about 12 hours! Hooray Beer! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life! -

Andrew, I'm not sure when you checked the forecast, but there's a chance for rain on Saturday-Monday. http://www.usairnet.com/weather/forecast/ft%20dodge,iowa/ Of course the only thing that affects is how hard I'll party the nights before since I can sleep in if it's raining. One weather related item that's great will be the low temps. Highs in the 75-80 range with lows around 55 will make for some nice nights around the campfire and all that polyester won't be as sweaty as usual. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life! -
Couch Freaks 2006! Labor Day weekend

Speaking of "borrowed" items, those of you who were at the party on Thursday last year hosted by the Zoomeeland crew may remember the Wheel of Misfortune. It somehow walked off by itself sometime early Friday morning but I guess we got our use out of it, and since we're not hosting the party this year we won't really need it. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life! -
I got a fortune cookie the other day, but it was written in pencil and it said, "I peed in your rice." "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

Unlimited beer and jello shots! And I'm sure Sailor Jerry will be anchored in Zoomeeland as well. Whatever happens folks, let's remember that we're all in this together! FlyinMom, I used to go to WFFC when it was in Quincy and one of my friends kept raving about Couch Freaks/Dollar Daze. I didn't have enough money or time to go to both, but after relentless nagging from this particular friend I took the pilgrimage to Fort Dodge one year... I've never gone back to WFFC. -

Lawrocket, you're right and I wish I could retract my earlier name calling of the family (too late to edit my post now). You were (hopefully) not as close to the particular people in this crash so you're post wasn't as emotionally driven as mine. I wrote something in the heat of the moment and didn't fully think it through. If the Delacroix family is reading this, then I apoligize and hope that you can get through this difficult time and realize that many people are going through the same thing you are. My assumtion is that the lawyer probably contacted the family which only adds to my distaste for the lawyer. Even if the family made the initial contact, they are going through something I can't imagine (I have a daughter) so I can understand how their anger/sadness/frustration could erupt into something like this. If that's the case, then it's unfortunate that they acted without stepping back and looking at the big picture or trying to share their emotions with the other families and friends who are going the same thing. All this aside, not all lawyers a bad. My father was a lawyer and a very good man. I have some friends who are lawyers as well. This particular lawyer though is they type that give the good ones a bad name and as I said before, if I see him... square in the nuts! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

Many people on these forums (including me) were close to some or most of the people on the Otter that went down in Sullivan last weekend. Even though the funerals aren't even finished yet, the parents of Victoria Delacroix, the tandem student from England who was lost in the crash, are already suing everyone they can think of including the DZ. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/metroeast/story/063DBBA66884ED5B862571BF0018FDBA?OpenDocument I can’t believe the idiocy of trying to sue people over this. The FAA and NTSB haven’t even released a report yet and these fuckers are already trying to get rich off their daughter’s death. Here's the web page for their lawyer, so you can see what he looks like. http://www.robbrobb.com/media.jsp If you ever see him, please give him a swift kick in the nuts for everyone's sake. As Chris said, at KSUPC it's a pretty well followed tradition. I still remember the video of Scott H. doing his 100th naked... in the winter... with snow on the ground! I've done one or two, but I don't really plan on doing anymore. Not necessarily because Im old and fat, but it's just not fair to the other jumpers when I fly past them in a track due to my "third leg" "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

That however, was one of the funniest things I've read in a long time. I can almost hear a friend of mine from Sconsin. Oh ya, you betcha! Not to get too off-topic here, but speaking of odd regional sayings, whats with people from the south saying, "I'll tell you what..." I always want to answer them by asking, "What?" "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

I was actually quoting a Friend's episode where Joey was trying to explain that he thought is was "moo", instead of "moot". I guess I should stick to my day job instead of that comedy carreer I was thinking about. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

The worst is when people say, "It's a mute point." Everyone knows the point is moo. It's like a cow's opinion... it doesnt mean anything. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

"skyflyers" tend to be French or from Michigan... Idiot!
freefal replied to freefal's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Wow! Books like this make you realize how clueless some people really are. http://wired.com/news/culture/reviews/0,71324-0.html?tw=wn_index_5 Quotes like: “Skyflying is quite dangerous, probably much more hazardous than BASE jumping. It has always been that way:” are bad enough. But my favorite one is :“…skyflyers -- who tend to be French or from Michigan -- are getting better and better.” Those crazy Frenchmen up north! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life! -
That was the lame excuse I went with for the Hillbilly boogie and I missed an awsome time. Go tonight if you can (I can't). Setting up a tent in the rain is worth it since they're will be stripper(s) there. Besides, I hear that Jimmy Coiner's penis has a Hemi! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!
-
Jason, you and Chris have way too much time on your hands, but is quite possibly the funniest damn thing I've ever heard. I missed this boogie last year and I don't remember the lame excuse, but it doesn't matter cuz' I'l be there Friday morning as early as I can. And I can't wait to see Jimmy again and bask in his glow. Ya know I heard that most people have 23 pairs of chromosomes, but Jimmy has 72... and they're all poisonous. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

To see where the flybys will be you can also go to: http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/sightings/cities/view.cgi?country=United_States®ion=Kansas&city=Olathe (This is the link for my where I live, but you can change it for your location.) I've seen a base rig with a left-handed BOC pouch. I beleive it was due to the fact that the jumper had a weak right shoulder from a past injury instead of just a left handed preference though. "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!

Similar to what Kid_Icarus said, I've always come from the schol of thought that say, "pitching" isn't gay, but if you "catch", then you're gay... at least that's what they told me a summer camp! "Ignorance is bliss" and "Patience is a virtue"... So if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around for a while, I guess you can have a pretty good life!
