Help!! I screwed up my level 1 AFF..
Stusmooth replied to cassieaf's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I did my first off DZ landing Saturday with a friend at Skydive City. We landed by Chancy Rd. It was my 52nd jump and just got my B license. He had more than 800 jumps and it was his first off landing also. It was a bad spot no wind situation. We pulled a few hundred feet sooner realizing we were far away and still wasn't even close to making it back. As soon as I opened I rear riser turned toward the DZ and did my loosening chest strap and collapsing riser thing fast and sat in heavy brakes. I remembered where the landing direction was. I watched where my friend landed and landed next to him safely on my feet by Chancey Rd. As fast as we grabbed our gear and climbed the gate by the road they had a truck right there to pick us up. Most of the staff had to say to me "so you had your first off DZ landing?" Everyone was concerned. They look out for newbies at Skydive City/Zhills! Those two canopy classes helped me out! -
That Big Air Sportz link hits everything that I can remember. I did 101 before christmas and did 102 more recently. All that the link didn't hit was a long spot and maybe the flare thing that you find your sweet spot on your canopy. You flare looking foward. You flare looking up. You flare with your eyes closed above 3000ft of course to get the feel of your sweet spot. Also avoiding other canopies while keeping your canopy flat at all times even if you are crosswind/downwind. Also a good canopy pattern always helps. Personal coaching can always help. But I don't know much I am a newbie.

Why you check your pilot chute before you exit
Stusmooth replied to GAjumper84's topic in Safety and Training
Glad to hear your ok. I guess every jump is a learning process? My home drop zone is Skydive City-Zhills and the planes are always packed which will be slowing down for the summer. Heal up. I am from GA and will be up there in a few weeks. What DZ were you at? -
Sorry I can't spell. I graduated high school in Georgia. That is exactly what I needed. I saved the information. Thanks.. Let me help you. It is written on the top of your device. Let me help you. People like you don't bother me. I have been picked on by bigger people than your whole country! People shouldn't throw rocks that live in glass houses! Does that help you?

I will be there Friday. Thanks for the information. -
My battery is getting weak on my Vizzo II and I was wondering how many CR-2325 batteries are in it? Are they common batteries? Can I get them anywhere? Does it kill all of my memory? And does it need to be reset with a paperclip of some sort? I can't find my owners manual. Thanks

I just talked to them recently and they didn't have all those different size rigs to choose from. They only rent each rig for the day and won't let me pack the chute. I am taking my second canopy course tomorrow and renting skydive city's Navigator 200 without a collapsible chute. That is why I am dying to get my on rig. I am a nobody and unimportant at the Sunshine Factory but I am a local. Thanks for the help. -

What size Navigator did you go to the 210 Spectre from? I am a very new jumper and I went from a Nav 200 to a Sabre 210 on a jump and it had a full flare. I loved it. I am looking for my first canopy and plan on trying a Silhouette. There is a 190 Spectre at my DZ for rental but I had a instructer friend tell me that is was a little jump from a 200Nav. Thanks for the input. -
You sound like the people that said that since I do not agree with Obama that I am a racist. Well I think that those people burning the town down are animals. Because they are acting like animals. Saying that they look like a certain animal may be racist but it is the truth also! Racism has nothing to do with it!

Nice. It made me understand things alot better. I am just now feeling the difference between the canopies so I have alot to learn. I am looking to purchase my first canopy right now so it sure helps not having a trial and error thing going on because that can hurt! I have been jumping a Nav 200 about 25 jumps. I recently jumped a Sabre 2 210 and really loved it. But anything compared to a Navigator feels like a race car to me. I am a ex moto racer so the speed doesn't scare me the other people do. I jump at Z-Hills and have been cut off before so I do like the idea of a faster recovery canopy. Is there a PD demo in the south coming anytime soon that anyone knows about? -

Welcome to the skydiving world! I am originally from Macon. I built dozens of houses in the Wonderful Robins,Centerville area. Mostly off highway 96. I live in Hudson Beach, Fla now and my home dropzone is Skydive City, Zephyrhills. I have jumped at Skydive Georgia and The Farm. I have been to Skydive Atlanta but didn't jump. Enjoy skydiving. It only gets better. It took me 8 or 9 jumps before I got comfortable. I will be at Skydive Atlanta the week after easter jumping. -
