Hello Folks, I have a friend who wants to visit DeLand, Z-Hills and possibly Sebastian, however the only challenge is transportation. Other than renting a car, what are the alternatives regarding travel to and from these places? Let us start with the DeLand to Z-Hills run first: Should they fly to Tampa from Orlando? Daytona? Catch the Greyhound from DeLand to as close as possible to Z-Hills? Is that feasible? Hitchhike? Or is the rental car pretty much the only way? Many thanx for the help, DTH

Hey, no need to shout! To all who care, the wee archipelago of Bermuda has been bruised, battered, and outright whipped by freefall-calibre winds during Hurricane Fabian. We had sustained 100 mph winds, with periods of 120 and even 140 mph gusts that were a sight to behold. I've seen several hurricanes, and quite a few good storms, but nothing like Fabian. Unfortunately four people were swept into the water during the height of the storm (see story and pictures atour local daily newspaper; several minor injuries were reported, but all in all things worked out okay. Here in Bermuda we began building out of limestone block and concrete block many moons ago, so our houses stand up to a range of howling winds; a major factor in having such a low death toll during such violent events. Since the nearest continent is approx 700 miles away, we locals can't just pack up and run whenever the wind starts to blow. We actually go shopping for essentials, beer and rum included, and have hurricane parties to pass the time. I would love to stay and chat, but I work at the airport in Bermuda, and there is debris piled upon debris piled upon debris that needs to be cleared away. The southern edge of the runway is only 50 feet from the ocean, so we have been swamped with flotsam and jetsam. Until next, Dale

Hello Everybody, I am flying into Philly Airport on Thursday July 31, and would love to catch a ride with anyone who might be goin to Crosskeys. Anybody? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller?? My flight arrives approx 1500hrs. If I had a rig I would ask the pilot for a decent spot and land right in the peas. I will gladly pay for fuel, water, whatever. Heck, beer even. Many thanx in advance, Dale

On login page, please put cursor on username
Nemo replied to Nemo's topic in Suggestions and Feedback
Hey HH, When a user clicks on the login script, how about having the cursor's resting place be on the username box. Yeah yeah, so I am lazy, but it is soooo much easier to just start typing, instead of reaching for the mouse to click on the username box. I am clear and concise? Many thanx Dale -
One of the first jumps I did in a pair of nylon shorts taught me not to wear boxer shorts as an undergarment! Near the beginning of freefall from 13'500 the shorts begin to smack my thighs, which I could handle, but soon afterwards the boxers began to flap against my family jewels! Ouuuuuuch! Needless to say, I spent the rest of the dive clutching the loose material and my jewels, whilst attempting to remain belly-stable for the remainder of the descent. I was basically doing a practice ripcord touch for several thousand feet until pull time, with excellent form. From then onwards, any dive I make in shorts has been and will be in a pair of briefs, and snug ones at that. Guys, pay attention and learn from the mistakes of others or

G'day all, On this day, the 31st anniversary of my existence on this planet, I would like to hear from all the other Pisces people at DZdotcom. I am doubly fortunate in that it is also my day off!! Don't be shy, you don't have to give away your age, but how about posting you day and month of birth? I just might have a beer or two today, and probably tonite, and just may call in sick tomorrow. In the meantime, I will gladly raise a toast for all the other fishes in the sea! Happy Birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya Folks, Check out this story about a recent rescue off Bermuda. This is the result of the second, possibly third attempt to salvage an abandoned yacht (the Altair) just north of the island. Now, I'm not too inclined to believe the Bermuda Triangle stories, as many can be explained without resorting to the Atlantis crystal and Alien explanations. However, many people feel the yacht is jinxed. I'm not superstitious, but don't call me to be part of your crew if you're going after that yacht. Hey Andrea, I am working on Skydive Bermuda at this very moment! As of next week I should a virtual dropzone, www.skydivebermuda.com (not worth making clicky yet!), with the intent of making a real dropzone in the very near future. I will post a thread about it shortly. We are supposed to have at least one, maybe two air-shows this summer and fall, which should open the doors for other things, like fun jumping! There is also talk of setting up an air-academy here, which is quite possible since there is not much traffic at our airport. And as we all know, skydivers need jump pilots, so this may be just the beginning. See the attachment for an aerial view. For sure there will be a minimum license requirement due to the very close proximity of the ocean, but nothing that can't be overcome. See ya, Dale

Hey Mama and other kind folk, I can't vouch for everything you said, but I can confirm that I was in DeLand, last July to be exact. I had an awesome time, and met some great people! At the moment I am not able to jump, mainly because there is no DZ in Bermuda. I also have to wait until the Spring bird migration (not springbreak ) before I can get off the island again. I am hoping to do a mini-tour of south and central-Florida this July (DeLand, Z-Hills, Sebastian, etc), so will see you again in the near future. As for a pic, that should be up shortly. So for now, watch this space
