don't worry Fox's 54321 Sports and the show Counter Culture are going to be doing in depth coverage of the Rob Harris Boogie competiton... It just takes a "shitload" of networking and cold calling people to get the good stuff lined up. It's our fault for not selling our sport harder. This footage does not just jump out of the camera and on to t.v. I've seen so many people bitch about the coverage of skydiving on t.v. and not a whole lot of people talk about actively changing that. Well we've got our X-Games once again, it's called the Rob Harris Boogie. T.V. is covering it "our' way thanks to 6 months worht of non stop work, we've got an event that the networks are happy to cover.. all the naysayers, take a lesson and do the same. build it and they will come.. again, we've got to "sell" the footage, it doesnt just sell itself.. btw: saw a demo jump into Sea World in San Diego... anybody know who that was? Right now I've got 3 major sponsors onboard, which will cover 1/3 of the awards that are going to be done by Cherrie La Porte of a play of colors play of colors I've still got the Humble Champion award to work on as well. Thats being done by Bob SnodGrass Snodgrass test crew Good news is so far I've got 4 bands for the event. Diego Roots Diego Roots and the Yuks and "Your Mom" to play the event. Diego Roots are doing it for lodging and the other bands are lending their talent for the exposure. I've asked a my home dz to do a fund raiser to help contribute and I'm working with management to do something later this summer/fall. A new friend up in NorCal is going to be doing a fundraiser for us as well at their Labor Day boogie. If anyone wants to get involved and do a fundraiser on their dz we'd greatly appreciate it. I'll give your dropzone a formal thank you on the Rob Harris Boogie website, along with your dz logo hyperlinked to our site. Rob Harris Boogie their is an award being made called the "Humble Champion" It's based on what someone contributes to the sport overall and what makes them stand apart and shine. If you'd like to nominate someone please do so to the boogie website. The award is going to be an 80 pound glass sculpture that will be showcased on the winners home dz for 2 years then brought back to the next event. The Humble Champiion award will be awarded along with one of Rob's jumpsuits in a glass display case and a photo montage of Rob. The winner will also get a bronze, marble and glass award to keep for themselves. In a couple weeks Carl Nespoli is going to jump out of a plane with one of our 15 pound bronze/glass sculptures to do a promo spot for the event. Heres a photo of one of the 2nd place awards.. I've already got two televison shows to cover it and am working on another. all money we raise above and beyond the event costs will be donated to the Rob Harris Foundation to start an Educational Scholarship in Rob's memory.
