I see your point, but what do you think about this situation: at one exit, 3 jumpers got out. The first one was an experienced skydiver followed by the students ( at that jump without altimeters). The students knew that they must follow the first. All landed perfectly safe in the target area.

I'm an air traffic controller and and my work program is really stupid. The only good thing is that I can be really bad and don't let the skydiver's plane take off!!! ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....

It's scary??? Just because you are going down with 18ft/sec?? Or because with little wind you'll move backwards??? I had the wildest jumps with rounds... You need great skill to do something like landing in the target area or style. But I'm not sure if i will ever do it again! ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....

I only have to pay my license and two jumps (14$ each) and all others are free.

I'm an air traffic controller so I'm supposed to care about safety... this is what they say!!!! Now generally it's OK. It wasn't always like this, but there was an air show at the airport and I was in it. Since then are very proud to have a skydiver among them. ralu what would be a woman without her dreams.... -

I can't agree yor statement "I think it is very foolish to send a student up without one, even a tandem. " You can let the student jump without any device, but the freefall time has to be very short. At first 3-5 sec and then gradually add more. So, I think, the alitmeter is great because with it the student will have a longer freefall sooner. ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....

Well, I was a student like that. I've made 12 static line jumps, after those I've started with 3 sec freefall, 5,7, 10... and so on. I just had to count. I used an altimeter for the first time when I had about 60 jumps and I've find it very useful after the canopy was open. ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....

I've always wanted to buy one, but ... When I was a student I learned how to count and now I realy count very well. I tryed a visual altimeter for a couple of times, but I founded it more useful after the canopy was open. ralu what would be a woman without her dreams....
