i just had a look and the safety line was going from above the wing to the back of the plane, they were always hooked on. What got me though was the barrell over the victoria falls, i was thinking if i was in that position that i would have taken my chances and done it......then to figure out it was a test and it would have killed you....oh well. i guess i will not be running his company. I have seen a photo of branson with a rig on in freefall. have just watched the next episode. A 300 foot bridge swing...holy shit, the idea is to be caught by someone and not fall, you would want to fall, this bridge swing, is the biggest i have ever seen. It looks like the site is actually a tourist bridge swing, Love to do this. Every stunt i have seen so far is just calling out for one person to step up with a rig. What a brilliant show. I doubt there will be a secon series as the prize could never be matched. Does anyone find it strange though that branson is english yet there are no english competitors. i totally agree with you mate, it is not for everyone. I do however think it can assist the ones who have great trouble. Rather that than leaving it to someone who does not know how to help themselves. I personally used radio for about 5 jumps, just for landing on the last three, i probably did not need the guidence but felt safer. When i realised i knew what i was doing i stopped with the radio. we all need to build confidence, weather it be fast or slow. Each to their own. i have seen someone pass out when they landed because of the pain they had from a bad tooth. i think you would be daft jumping with a broken nose. Can you imagine relative wind hitting your nose for 60 seconds at 120 mph? Yeah, alot of pain, a lot of eye watering, what would be the point in skydiving, to hurt yourself more and maybe endanger yourself? The sky is not going anywhere, do the right thing and let it heal. Maybe if you wear a full face helmet like stacy did, it will not hurt, but remember you breath through your nose while skydiving belly to earth. as well as learning from your instructors ask if you could be under radio guidence until you get the hang of things. One thing though that you might want to be taught about-ask instructors.......... when you are coming in for landing, while coming in for landing, if you point your foot to where you want to land.......if you keep your foot still and that landing spot moves under your foot, it means you are going to go past your landing spot, if it goes above your landing spot it means you are going to fall short of your landing spot. if it stays under your foot, that is where you should land. first of all this question should and will ultimatley be answered by a rigger, but my input is..... As a student, buy used gear for your first 100-200 jumps. reason is because you will more than likely downsize your canopy around these jumps, from a novice canopy to an intermediate canopy. i think unless you are a certain size that has trouble finding used gear that fits, it is a waste of money to buy new just of student status. My first rig that i was jumping was an old as racer, felt like it was 15-20 years old, still worked though but i was not a fan of the exposed risers(after being hung up on a door.) Second rig was a vector 2 that was 10 years old at the time. This rig i started jumping on was around number 40, it was an excellent rig and i had it checked by a parachute technician first. It was a sweet rig, not good for freeflying but it was great for getting the jumps and experience up.....three years later and i have just bought my first custom made wings. I am glad i never bought this until now, i have had it nade so it takes anywhere from around 120-150 main.. it is perfect and will give me another couple of downsizing. You can pick up a decent rig of student status for around 1000 dollars. later when you know what you want you can sell it for around the same price and purchase a custom dae rig for around 5-6k with all the trimmings and canopy's. Don't rush into buying new gear, give yourself a chance to explore what you want after your first hundred jumps of getting familiar with the sky and your surroundings and your canopy size and flying style.
