All depends on the particulars of each garment. Need pictures to make any valid judgement. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Religiosity attributed to vitamin deficiency
sundevil777 replied to narcimund's topic in Speakers Corner
And then in the same paragraph you make an analogy to the tooth fairy! I think there is good reason to believe about 2000 years ago there was a guy named Jesus, and some extraordinary things were happening around him. We don't have the archives of the Jerusalem Times newspaper to confirm it, and you can certainly argue that he wasn't the literal son of God, but do you deny he existed? To compare religions to "any other superstition" shows the mindset that I think existed in the researchers that went looking for a connection of vitamin deficiency and religious faith. It is a mindset of extreme intolerance, hostility, and prejudice toward people of faith. Once again, I ask, what kind of a group sponsors research to find the 'reason' why people are religious within vitamin deficiencies? This kind of conclusion doesn't just 'pop-up' during the course of research to find the best vitamins to help those with cancer. I think a group that has an agenda against those that are religious is the kind of group that would seek to find such a correlation, and if you look hard enough, correlations can be found/made/created. Why bother to research a link between vitamin deficiency and religious faith? Intolerance. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am -
That is exactly how I interpret: "tracks the plane's speed and tunes the speed of the conveyor to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction)." The conveyor speed does not have to match the speed of the airplane. The airplane has wheels that can roll, so the plane can move relative to the ground independently of the conveyor, especially since it has a prop for thrust that is independent of the conveyor. Please post this in reply to anyone who backs up their claims with biblical scripture. I found it quite fitting with a few minor contextual adjustments. That was not what I wrote. Please don't revise my post and then put it within a /reply box. What I wrote was: People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. What is really bad is how fuel mileage in Canada is described in liters/100 km, the inverse of the normal distance/volume, so that a low number is more efficient. They really do need to be straightened out up there, maybe an invasion is appropriate... That's the issue. Here in the US, if it tracks the speed of the plane in miles per hour, the plane will fly once it hits a certain speed. But, if it tracks the speed in kilometers per hour, then the American plane will not know how fast it's actually going, and will abort any planned takeoff. I have noticed that in Canada, the size of pizzas are still described in inches, as are TVs... The metric system just doesn't work for everything... That is not stated in the problem. Just that the conveyor would match the planes speed. If the plane was stationary, and the conveyor moving, they would not match. I am so there... I want to see a new DZ.com record for largest formation north of the Ohio river, east of the Mississippi river or whatever, let's just put up a big one! Any decent flat flyers not already DZ.commers can be registered and make an obligitory post before the attempt. Nothing in that description says that the conveyor can counteract the movement of the plane to keep it stationary relative to the ground. Your scenario would have the plane's speed at zero, with the conveyor constantly moving faster, which does not agree with the problem statement. I wonder what the record time for a thread to get flaming is that doesn't involve sex? Here's a physics forum thread, with exactly the same assumptions running rampant: http://forum.physorg.com/index.php?showtopic=2417&st=0 And a really rough attempt at an experiment to prove it: http://videos.streetfire.net/Comment.aspx?fileid=35E964D9-38DB-4EFD-BE8D-D6BA1A43A06B People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. No, that is not the scenario. The conveyor simply makes the wheels spin twice as fast as normal. By definition, if the plane is stationary, the conveyor is stationary. That is the initial state of this scenario, from there the plane starts moving forward relative to the ground, with the wheels spinning twice as fast. I think this riddle is good at showing how easy it is to assume things not in the original problem statement. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
-
Wrong. The conveyor matches the speed of the airplane relative to the ground, so the wheels rotate twice as fast. If the speed of the plane is 0, the conveyor speed must be 0. If the plane moves forward relative to the ground, then the conveyor moves in the opposite direction at the same speed, thus the wheels rotate twice as fast. Apart from the inertia/frictional effects of the wheels, the take off is normal. PLEASE READ THE OLD THREAD: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2006172#2006172 People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Wrong. The wheels will spin twice as fast, that is the only difference. Think of it this way, if the wheels had zero friction and rotational inertia, the plane would not move at all relative to the ground, no matter how fast you made the conveyor move. There is actually some friction/inertia, but it would be a minor factor. There is nothing in the scenario that says the plane can't move relative to the ground, just that the conveyor speeds up as the plane moves relative to the ground, hence the wheels spin at twice the speed. In fact, if the plane can't move relative to the ground, then the conveyor won't move either. There is a lot more on this in the old thread, no need to rehash it. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2006172#2006172 People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. Yes, it will take off, with the wheels of the plane rotating faster than normal. The conveyor cannot, and is not defined as being able to keep the plane stationary relative to the ground, so the only result is the wheels rotating faster. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2006172#2006172 People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. The end of the Suns vs Lakers game was ridiculous. The way they decide what is a foul is stupid. You can shove and push a guy with your pelvis all you want, shove with your arm against the back of a guy, but go toward the basket, and the refs will call a foul on a hair trigger figuring that somebody must have fouled. The end of the suns vs lakers game today was awful, Nash was asaulted just before the end of the 4th period, but no foul, and at the end of the overtime, he was being shoved, pushed and hacked all at the same time, but no foul, a jump ball instead. It is a commonly known tradition to "let them play" near the end of the game - basically don't call fouls because they don't want the game decided upon fouls. How stupid. Pro basketball sucks. Maybe a penalty box like hockey would be better. There are often a third of the points scored by foul shots, is that supposed to be part of an exciting game? I only care enough about it to not want the lakers to win. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired.
