Hi all,
This is a quick question for those with racer experience: I bought my first container last fall (used), and I contacted Jump Shack to make sure it would work with the canopies I had. It’s a racer classic and the main is USSB (475 c.i.), and the reserve is QSB (475 c.i.). After they confirmed it would fit, I had a Raven II reserve installed in the reserve compartment and a Spectre 190 in the main compartment.
I’ll admit that I was a bid naïve when I asked them about the fitment. I figured that “it fits” meant that the reserve would be a breeze to pack for the rigger and open in a few hundred feet when asked to do its job. Now, after doing some reading on the forums, it seems that having reserves on the tight side is a bad call. My question: do you agree that this is an appropriate reserve/container combination? I would like to plan for the worst, which would be a Vigil fire at less than 1,000 feet. Also, I have seen a lot of racers holding the same canopy combination with much larger container volumes. I also planned on testing the bag extraction force on the next repack.
Thanks!
