  1. Those are fun. It's in the UK, you sure you want to bid on that? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  3. .... Nah.. it didn't happen. Twas tempting but showing my ass on the internet isn't tops on my liest of things to do. Brittany would be proud though. Hey grue, the rig looks great. How does it fit? My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  4. The shiver drink. It says very clearly in the finest print available to start with 1/2 a can . It's supposed to be used for rapid fat loss. It causes the body to shiver and burn calories. You get really nifty body and head rushes. I tried it 2 times. It's definatley not just caffeine and sugar. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  5. The most common price is about 250. 250 is a lot cheaper than shiny new titanium. I have a lot of landings using Hanwags. However the conditions are a lot less controlled than the skydiving environment. They would be fine. They don't slide well but any boot with tread isn't going to slide well. I like the boots Scoop posted. Hanwags are great however they are waterproof hence they don't breath. I won't go with out them BASE jumping but for skydives they're probably overkill. 6. 2 to 1's work well in the CReW realm but 2 to 1's and swooping really isn't a good match. I used them for about 20 jumps a long time ago and took them off. Since 4 inches of handle pulled down is only 2 inchs of riser, the tail will be deflected to easily. Brick, don't be shy when practicing using the front risers. Crank them down and hold on. It's easier to keep them down rather than gradually pull them down. Practice this at a comfortable altitude to get the feel of it and just go for it. Good luck. You assume way too much. I'm a current and active rigger and I don't see all that many Mirages let alone G-4's. There are many regions and some are not rich with every single model of every brand of skydiving equipment. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  8. Front is the nose. Back is the tail. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  9. It sure appears that you hit the edge of a thermal or dust devil, sans dust. I'd bet on it. Lengthen the brake lines a couple inches so the tail isn't deflected during front riser. How much shorter are the outside lines compared to the inside lines? As for the opening. It sounds like a fairly normal opening for that type of canopy. Take a good frame by frame look at a regular slider down deployment on a BASE canopy. It inflates nose first, then as it finishes slamming open, the center of it is compressed. It's very noticeable on the top skin but it happens very quick. When I did an ultra low speed deployment on my slydiving canopy, the center cells closed back up briefly. It sounds exactly like the deployment you described. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  13. I highly doubt inertial bag strip is a culprit. that is blamed far too often. Most people think bag strip is line dump. Line dump makes no difference, bag strip does, however..... When the slider is only a tiny distance down the lines when the canopy comes out of the bag.. (not against the stops during packing), The bottom skin of the canopy is exposed to the air a little more than it should be. Suddenly there's a high pressure area above the slider It pushes the slider out of the way very rapidly allowing the bottom skin of the canopy to catch air. riggerrob left a hint hint suggesting packing. The most common error is not ensuring the slider is against the stops before closing the d-bag. If the canopy opens nicely, it opens nicely. Trim changes will affect opening characteristics but it's most often packing error that will cause a normally nice opening canopy to open in a brutal fashion. 14. You're quite the wuss there Abbie I've seen LOADS of velcro rig jumpers get a "Gear Check" and loads of pin rig jumpers get a "Gear Check" as well. Using a pin rig is NOT rocket science My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  15. Well, actually... mines open. But the signal isn't very strong. I've yet to see anyone by my room mates logged onto it. If you can log onto the router with the default password, then he probably just took it out of the box and plugged it in... and probably doesn't or is too lazy to set it up securely. At my old place, I used my neighbors wireless connection fairly often but didn't do any downloads that would use up the bandwidth and make his connection really slow. 16. coat hangar, Needle nose pliers, any long, small enough cord, even if it's attached to something. You can put it through all the grommets, through the closing loop then back through the grommets and then close it. Rolled up plastic shopping bag, hmmmm... what else? I'm not quite bored enough to experiment with every thing in reach yet. Duct tape... very clever! It should have worked. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  17. Yes. If he looks and knows what he's looking for. Chances are that if it's an open network, he won't know what to look for anyway. When the router dishes out an IP address via DHCP, it's listed in the LAN status window. Your MAC address will be listed along with the IP address your computer was given. There are instructions in every router manual to enable security. If he doesn't enable it... well.. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  18. Nice rig there Grue. You lucked out... Bonnie told me to hang my ass over it but the task was a bit to much. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  19. It's like "riding a bike" You'll be a bit rusty but you won't forget how to skydive. You will get the usual emergency procedures retraining and probably jump with an instructor so they know you can fly in control and pull your own pilot chute and you're good to go. I've jumped with people that had 200 jumps and 4 years off... etc.. and they all did fine. Heck, you'll never forget how to ride a bike, and simply falling is a whole lot easier. Stay safe over there!!! My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  20. Put your legs maybe a touch wider than \/ and much less than _ _ Flying close the the splits is much less stable. Think 3 legged stool. If the legs are placed * * * it will fall over. Make sense? Feathers. as fun as they may be, do not belong in the ass. Removing them will be less distracting and allow you to concentrate more on flying. 21. Actually, I bet it is the same. My Xaos is made out of the same material. It has a thicker feeling and is certainly bulkier. It's because the fabric was made with more silcone coating. It was explained to me by Chris, that the first batch of that material was a mistake, but since it worked rather well in skydiving, it was re-ordered that way. Some of it probably made it to your shop. Besides the additional silicone, it's the same ole ZP fabric. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

  23. This may not be any consolation yet, but just keep jumping. It will sort itself out. I can fly belly speeds in a sit all the way to streamlined stand-ups. If I can, you can. It's simply a matter of time. 145ish isn't all that slow. It's not fast by any means but it will pick up when your balance is more refined. Remember to keep the arms out to the side and bent... (I'm old school so I sometimes forget). As your balance increases, the ability to speed up by pushing down on the feet more increases as well. Don't fly with your feet together unless it's simply to fly really fast for whatever reason. I'd recommend going out and doing some stand up spins, stand up to multiple layout back flips, standup to a bunch of front flips stopping in a sit or stand. Stand and walk very slowly to gain independent limb control. While in a sit, clap your hands... stuff like that. All that will increase your balance and body awareness making it much easier to fly at whatever speed you choose. Hope that helps. Edit: because I'm a great speller! However, the dictionary doesn't agree. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
  24. Squeezing it together is fine. It won't "freeze" together. It's not really necessary but it won't harm anything. Train the "pull and pull" Actually it's Peel and Punch and all is well. To check free play of the reserve cable, take hold of the cable above the handle and pull upward to see how much is in the handle. Or... take hold of the cable above the reserve pin and pull the excess out of the cable housing. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
