With the glasses I saw in the store, the Alti N2, had four patches in each corner that I could not read, but the center was fine. If I rotated my wrist more became unreadable. But the pattern of readable area was the same for different glasses. These were all from the same vendor though. My conclusion though for safety reasons, is I'm not going to mix polarized sunglasses with digital altimeters. So, I'll buy the non-polarized lens.

I've got a digital Alti N2 altimeter with an LCD display and am thinking about getting some sunglasses. It seems you need to be careful with polarized lens, since I was in the store trying polarized sunglasses and noticed that the corners are black with them on. Does anyone here have any advise on this subject. If you have a digital altimeter do you just limit yourself to non-polarized lenses?

Hmm.... Maybe this is a discussion for a different thread, but does going to the Eloy Christmas boogie mean a should not buy a used rig with an Argus AAD in it?

OK, filled in the POPS application and sending it in.

Yes I am. How do you get one? BTW, My skydiving goals are: be part of BigWay jumps. have accurate landing more so than swooping Do some free flying. (I can sit fly in the tunnel, but haven't done this skydiving yet.) I don't have any interest in BASE jumping. My bucket list includes: - Doing a cross-country jump where you pull at 13k+ and go several miles back the drop zone. - Jump in Hawaii after getting my B-license. - Jump at the Blue Hole in Belize. - Ballon jump - Helicopter jump - Skyvan jump or if ever possible out the back of a C-130. So will be asking questions about that. Other things I've done include open water swimming like the Alcatraz Swim and the Tiburon Mile Swim. I'm still hoping to do a Golden Gate swim.

Hello All, I started jumping a long time ago in college (in the pre-AAD days), and after 36 jumps I stopped jumping. The reasons were as a college student I couldn't afford a rig, and my fiance asked me to stop. Life intruded for 20 years, but one ex-wife and two wonderful and mostly grown kids later - no longer bound by my promise, and now able to afford a rig - I'm back doing what I loved in college. Spent some time in the tunnel to prepare then started AFF in December and now have my A-license. It only took 20+ years. :)

So, is a 218 reserve compatible with a 176 main in a two out situation? I'll soon be buying a rig with canopy sizes in this range. Is there any information of even videos show how a larger reserve interacts with a smaller main?

I use the N3A with motorbike helmet speakers (tork x I think they're called) and I can hear it perfectly fine in freefall using an open face. I have the countdown every 1000 feet enabled and love it. It reads out my altitude every thousand feet the moment I leave the door. Not necessary but it's nice. Thanks everyone for the responses. I was referring to the N3A, and not the standard N3. I'll look into the helmet speaker option.

I hope the original poster doesn't mind if I ask a question here. I'm considering the N3 for my helmet because i like the idea of the countdown 10...9...8... in 1,000 foot increments as you are dropping. (I currently have an N2 Alti for my wrist) My question for people that have the N3 is, do you use this feature and do you like it? Does anyone else have a setup like that? Does anyone consider having two altimeters from the same manufacturers a safety risk? (i.e. if they ever give a wrong reading both could be bad in the same way) Alan

Hello! I was wondering if you could help me

Can you find a wind tunnel like iFly near you? I see one at this link in Australia but that might be a bit far. Maybe one is closer to you. http://downunder.iflyworld.com/ I would spend a few weekends there to make sure you are stable and not spinning. Once you have that down in the tunnel go back and try for stage 4. The tunnel is a good supplement if you keep in mind it's limitations, like (a) it doesn't enforce "altitude awareness" and (b) later you will need to learn to track and that cannot be done in a tunnel. If you do go to a tunnel, I would say limit your session to 60 seconds at a time, pretend to check our altitude every few seconds and end the session by doing your pull sequence. You want to trains your muscle memory to do that. Alan -
I don't know what causes the 45 degree line twist, but the solution is to ask your rigger to swap your left and right risers, and the pack the rig with the slider all they way down. When your chute opens the first time it will whip you around hard about 315 degrees, but that will fix your 45 degree line twist. Now just remember with your risers swapped your controls are all backwards from what you are use to. So, instead of cranking down on the front risers for your swoop landing you'll need to crank in the back risers. Also, since you are coming in facing backwards, timing the flare will be a little bit tricky. To solve that get a bicycle helmet mirror and install it with two screws on your Cookie G3 helmet. The visibility will be a bit limited, but with some practice you should be able to time the flare just right. Just make sure the first few times you do it, to land in the swoop pond, and to bring a towel.
