I got an email from Quest letting me know the Kodiak is now approved in Canada. Now I just need that lotto win...
-
maybe we can get back to the OP topic??? I think 99.9 percent would agree those wrinkles are a non issue. btw,,,jumpwally has way more jumps than shown in his profile line - from earlier in this thread "Trust me,,i got more jumps than that".
-
just to clarify... with a racer the choice is yours. double sided, single sided or no RSL. they do promote double sided because it can do less harm than a single sided RSL in their expert opinion.

Nancy at Jumpshack has let me know the rig was NOT equipped with a speedbag and that a speedbag would have prevented it from occuring.

when HMA first came out I think I had MEL put dacron (not the huge stuff) on for the lower control lines. what are advantages and disadvantages of this.

Fire-breathing ‘Supervan’ debuts

Any idea what the average turn time was. PST is ~400msl is it not? OK, this is my last report on this plane because we are not getting it next year apparently. I asked the DZO (not the pilot or the owner) for the numbers for a 30C day and got this... Hmm. At 30 C, the data are pretty limited; we had very few warm days this year. I'd guess that warm, we'd be looking at 20 minute turnaround with 18 or 19 jumpers. Typically 17 gallons (US) per load. -
sorry. I misunderstood. I thought Kelly was talking about execessive line after the last stow becoming entangling (somehow half hitched) with a locking stow when you rotate the bag while closing the container. Something we are all taught to watch out for from student status.

Jason Fisher just left today...it worked flawlessly at parachute school of toronto this summer. -
thanks, guess I should have researched better...
-
racers have been velcro free since about 2002. do your research. personally, I would only buy a new rig with mag riser covers...so that means racer, vector at this point in time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSVRSIicQDk

Correction to one persons post.....it is ALL about fashion and popularity. why else would someone ask what to buy (i.e. this thread). my opinion, get on the phone and actually talk to some real experts instead of face this idiotic feedback from some 50 jump wonder...

How often do cut away mains get lost?

I have lost a JVX in Deland. I had real trouble finding a second JVX not too long ago in heavy bush. I feel I was kinda lucking to find a Sabre 170 many years ago. I think your idea is excellent even if it was simply an intermittent LOUD audible device. In fact, I talked to a rig manufacturer about it once. -
first, unless you have money to burn, I would by used. If you are goint to buy new I would put magnetic riser covers on the list. PD would not ask Bill Booth to solve a problem that did not exist. My racer was modified by JumpShack and they are nice!

dome slider from skyworks rigging works fantastic

Fire-breathing ‘Supervan’ debuts

yes, to me it looks like spinning the prop by hand for half a minute or so on cool down is part of the procedure. what gets to me is that some people cannot look at the current facts/data and change their mindset. read the article that jason posted a link above - those are current users of the engine. -

I am no aircraft mechanic or pilot but jason pointed this out in the other thread.... "The engine has autostart and a torque/Temp limiter which is helps the pilot not to over stress the Engine. Skyvans do not have this. Thats why they go boom. Bad pilots not the engine." -

here is the other thread on it. my impression is that DZOs will love it even more than the jumpers. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2772329;search_string=supervan%20900;#2772329 -
good choice. Nancy and the rest at JumpShack are fantastic. hoping you got magnetic riser covers. I had them mod my old (1998) rig for a very reasonable price...

I have no instructional ratings but will say your 2 posts make a ton of sense. well put.

I would splt the gear up and sell everything on its own. I will only jump racers - most comfortable rig on the market and best reserve pin protection. If the colours are not ugly and the right size I may be interested.

we jump all year. the dzo does not like to run the 206 below about -15C or 5F. my personal limit is -12C or 10F hands and face are the problem areas...

I'm with ya on the 'clean' but would be careful with the lube. from the UPT Vector3 manual for every 3 months: "Clean and lubricate the release cable with a light oil such as “3 in 1” brand or silicon" yes, the manual also says only a thin layer. I don't need to lube my red (teflon) cable however I bought a couple of cans of food grade silicon a long time ago and use that to clean it twice a year. My point of this being I bet no more than 10 percent of jumpers follow the rig manufacturers recommendations when it comes to (yellow) cutaway cables maintenance.

I have seen a dislodged cutaway handle lost in freefall. the guy realized and was very experienced and we just continued our 4 way
