  1. I've followed photosig for a while. Its basically a big back slapping exercise. Groups of people know each other and always give each other 3 thumbs up. Their marks aren't just for their shots. You score marks if you critique a shot and the photographer says it was useful (eg, I've critiqued your shot. if you click on useful i get a point, if you click on not useful I lose a point!) Some people have vendettas against others and deliberatley try and get people a low rating and it can get quite petty. Still there are some nice shots on there! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  2. British 4 way intermediate team (came 5th at the nationals) called Misschief!! (me on camera - does that count!?) (there isn't a seperate womens event at the brit nationals) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  3. Has anyone packed a techno 140 (parachutes de france) into a jav TJN? According to pdef the volume is 302 (similar to pd126r which does fit). Cheers! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  4. Some of my skydiving pics are on there if you'd like to have a look. http://www2.photosig.com/userphotos.php?id=52581 http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  5. Should work fine. 1 question though, Why limit yourself to flash speeds upto 1/250 th with an SB 26? Try and find a second hand SB 28 then you can go to 1/4000 (!) I haven't tried it at that but it works great at 1/1000 (it basically fires 4 flashes at 1/1000 at 1/4 power) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  6. Totally agree!! I did 1400 on my stiletto before going to a X brace and never got bored. Some of these posts scare me. Look at the profiles of some of the people who responded to 'whats your favourite hook turn' http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  7. I've landed my Xaos 21 completely on back risers (the wind was about 10mph) and I've seen a friend land his velocity on back risers in nil winds (We both had to run) I think its a good skill to develop in time. I have also seen another friend almost hurt herself under a reserve because a brake toggle came off and she made no attempt to use the back risers! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  8. Its OK, just keep your head still(!) Seriously though dig your chin into the chin piece and you'll be OK. You generally have to be jumping a pretty wide angle to get the vignetting, and a wider angle always seems steadier anyway. I get no vignetting with your lens on my PC10 (no step up ring though) Have you noticed how on your pc there is more vignetting? Thats the true size of the video - the extra that you don't see through the viewfinder is what the camera uses to make the steady shot work (on sony models), when you turn steady shot off this no longer moves, so the vignetting no longer moves either. My first camera was Hi8 with no steady shot and it was ok (i was crap though!). http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  9. If you turn steady shot off then the vignetting won't move around at all - its the way (sony) steady shot works. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  10. http://www.pierltd.com/new/main/propage.cfm?part=554&cat=21&subc=50 This site reckons that the stiletto is more high performance than the vengeance (not what I've heard but I've never jumped the vengeance). If this link doesn't work go to pierltd.com FAQ on best selling canopies http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  11. The 'get bored' argument really winds me up! Will the people who are so worried that you'll get bored come and visit you in hospital? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  12. Maybe thinking has changed since I spoke to him (about 18 months ago) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  13. Scott Miller told me that the only PD canopy that is better at getting back on rear risers than 1/2 brakes is the Velocity (this was before the sabre2 came out). He didn't comment on other manufacturers gear. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  14. Whether I'm head up or head down I tend to drift towards whatever I look at! Any tips on stopping or going backwards? When I sit fly in my camera suit (with big wings) I don't have any problems but as soon as I lose the wings i'm creeping forwards again. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  15. No they aren't french (I think there is a version of the atom with chest rings - perhaps a style version?) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  16. I had the sit suit with the c wing option and I eventually cut the small zp sit wing off the back of the arm. I usually wear free fly trousers over the suit (I jump in England - its cold!) I really like to sit fly in this suit - it goes very quiet when doing this!! My exit weight is 230lbs and I have no problems except for very light tandems for which I go flat. I actually thread the rsl clip through my hip rings and then hook them onto the leg strap hardware. The wing is then rock solid and it makes it impossible to pull your pc through the gap because there is no gap! When i just wrapped the clip around the leg strap the wing would collapse as I laid further back. The only problem with this is that it can be slightly fiddly to undo the clips under canopy. Apparently the suit no longer comes with the rsl clip as standard but it can be ordered as an extra. The build quality is as you would expect from Tony. I've done about 1000 jumps with this suit with only some minor repairs. My next camera suit will probably be another Tony suit but the regular suit with a c wing (and obviously no booties.) I won't need another one for a while though because there is a lot of life left in the one I've already got!! Hope you find this useful.
  17. I don't want to say. They are a very well respected European company (and no I don't work for them or jump any of their products!) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  18. Millers point about the batteries is a good one. My other cam is a PC10 which still works great but if the batteries stop working I would really struggle to get new ones. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  19. I was talking to a manufacturer who refuses to put chest rings on his rigs. He says that they promote off heading openings. Any thoughts?? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  20. Gus - heres a sad situation. You're English and you're saying 'Dude!' http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  21. I'd have a Javelin. No matter what other rigs there are I would always be thinking "its nice - but I'd rather have a Javelin" I wouldn't have an odyssey though! Do you really think its worth $175 to have a choice of different materials and a cut in back pad! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  22. If its the camera I'm thinking about it is mini DV.I have a TRV 10 and this is the same cam but without a memory stick. To sum up; mini dv no memory stick 30mm thread lots of digital effects (old movie etc) If it breaks sony may no longer support it (its quite old - my trv 10 was end of line over a year ago) If its a good price I would have it - leave everybody else to buy the latest versions and the price of the older versions comes right down! I paid £550 ($800) for the TRV 10 over a year ago. Have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  23. About 250 - UK rules apply. With hindsight I'd say it was too soon. I think with 250 jumps you've still got your hands full saving your life!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  24. I'm going to see what precision say. I've rechecked my logbook and its actually 4 cutaways in 309 jumps - I must have an awful position!! PM me with an offer for the canopy - I'll weigh it up against what precision say. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  25. Sounds like good advice - this is exactly what a very experienced velocity pilot told me after the cutaway. He also said not to try and correct the opening too much. just sort of go with it. Anyway I had to cutaway again on Saturday after doing all this and the canopy has now been grounded! I'm gutted! Thanks for replying anyway.
