  1. Read the manuals on PDs website. They have direct comaprisons. I have no experience of the vengeance but i saw an article on Pier ltds website that said the stiletto is more high performance - most people downsize from their stiletto when buying one though. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  2. When i started jumping camera i modified my cutaway drill slightly. When i reach for my handles i reach into the middle of my chest then work outwards for them to try and avoid this very thing. NB If you plan on changing your drills you might want to have a chat with an experienced instructor first. Secondly i totally agree about excess break lines, i've been bangin on about this to anyone who will listen for ages! Ever since i saw anti - gravity, watch the slo mo section of the French 8 way cameraflyer deploying - his break lines are all over his camera - yeuch!! Have fun!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  3. The good thing about the Tony C wing is its stitched on the front of the arm not the seam - therefore it allways inflates immediately when you flip to sit. My suit doesn't have the sit wing on the back. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  4. I have a tony C wing suit and can sit fly with all but the slowest fall rates - i weigh 210 lbs without kit http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  5. Chris Lynch 1st on Ve 96 Tim Carter VX 79 Gary Wainwright Xaos 21 - 108 Brian Vacher Ve 96 Alastair McCartnet Ve 90 Simon Hughes Stiletto 120 I think Stuart ?Piper (not meacock) Xaos 21 - 94 Martin Reynolds Ve 96 & 103 Chris Shaw Ve 103 Sorry Can't remember all the wing loadings! Simon on the stiletto was at about 1.4 and Tim was at 2.2 everyone else was in between. Chris ,Alastair and all the staff at Headcorn made it a fun safe meet! See you all at Netheravon! Shame it was so windy! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  6. Before you part with your cash check that the SB 22 will do fast synch with the F100. The SB28 will but I'm not sure about the 22 Have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  7. not sure about your coolpix but i think the N6006 will only flash synch upto 1/125 of a second. In my experience that isn't fast enough for freefall. I use an SB28 with a F801s (F8008 in USA?) and that is fine - it synchs upto 1/250th. An F90 is even better synchs upto 1/4000th with the right flashgun. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  8. Definately get in touch with Phil at Langar - he knows his stuff and u will get great service! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  9. I have a C wing and am very happy with it for sit flying. I'm 220 lbs exit weight and have no problems on all but the very slowest fall rates. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  10. Seems strange that sony doesn't recommend the consumer models for skydiving and yet the original advert for the PC7 heavily featured skydiving!!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  11. I have the headhunter voodoo. I've read some bad things about them but i'm pretty happy with mine. I have about 1200 jumps with it. If i was buying now though i'd get a flat top pro http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  12. i don't think you could still use laser link without drilling a hole in the right place! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  13. They look well built - i don't own one. If you plan on top mounting a stills make sure you put some extra padding between the bolt and your skull! I would personally replace the washers on the inside with much larger ones. Apart from that they seem fine. Gus - the cameras on my regular camera helmet are up at 15 degrees (ish), this seems a better general arrangement for FS, tandems, etc. Freefly is probably better with them level - but you are a better freeflier than me so u tell me! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  14. I have 2 javelins. 1 with rings and 1 without. I honestly can't tell the difference in the air. Also the one without any rings is more responsive to harness turns. If I was ordering a new jav today I woudn't bother with them. Spend the $200 on jump tickets!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  15. I heard of a cameraguy getting kicked in the throat at pull time by the passenger. The camera guy then went in trying to get his homemade aluminium chin guard out of his throat (at least thats what they think he was struggling with). Happened before i started jumping so i don't have any other details. I back off 5-6 ft then sit then half rotate on my back to get a portrait deployment shot (when i'm lucky - the more i practice the luckier i get!) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  16. Can i ask what u didn't like about the c wing jacket? http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  17. I personally prefer top mounting. A big diference will be climbing out. You need more head room than you think!! I have heard some people say that its easier to fly head down with a side mount. Although top mounting keeps stuff more in line with your spine, there is a bigger moment in an off heading diving opening because the weight is further from your head - something to think about! You will be fine with 4 way and tandem - also i'm starting to notice that many of the top freeflyers are using top mount these days. All in all i thinkk the advantages of top mounting outweigh any disadvantages. Have fun with your new toy!!! gary ps just checked out your profile - talk to Rickster powell and Gus Wing and ask them why they jump what they jump!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  18. I agree that its a very rare case to disagree with Bill Booth. The story that convinced me about not jumping rsl with camera is the one about the french guy whose reserve deployment back wedged against the helmet then the lines wrapped around it. I can't see that this would have been made any better by a skyhook. A cutaway sytem on his helmet may have given him a fighting chance. It would be interesting to know if if the camera jumpers at deland who are RWS sponsored are using them. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  19. I think the PC6 is identical to the PC 9 without a memory stick. Could be confused though!! I was once told that Sony build 5000 of each consumer model before releasing a new one. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  20. A very experienced (4500 ish jumps)instructor/cameraman at Langar also does this. Puts in the mouthlocks and freestoes the rest. He jumps a diablo 120 with dacron line and has had no problems. PS Rich I think Rhino mainly jumps at Sibson or can be found singing with his band 'Grounded' http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  21. I would have a look to see which one lines up best with your video lens. IMO your still lens should be exactly the same or slightly wider than your video lens - people don't mind a very tightly cropped video but won't buy your pics if you crop a leg off! The f1.8 is a bigger aperture - sometimes described as a 'faster' lens. No need to worry about this as we have so much natural light in our playground! Personally my sigma 24mm lines up very well with my Raynox0.5 lens. have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  22. I posted a question about this before but it didn't generate much interest. A major european manufacturer once told me that he believed that chest rings promote bad openings. http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  23. I would personally top mount anything you get - I top mount a PC10 with no problems. Saw a great video on TV last week of a guy with a spinner beacause his break caught round his camera. If you are going to side mount then consider a fully enclosed system. If you decide to side mount a cutaway is essential - this guy on the video got pretty low while struggling with his helmet clip. have fun! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  24. Hi Gus, Marcus had exactly the same problem with his TSE risers. John Curtis has modified them (I think) http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
  25. Hi Jo, I notice that you jump at Langar - this really is a question for an intructor who can then watch u under canopy. Ask Milko or Richard at Langar and you won't go far wrong. Have fun!! http://www.garywainwright.co.uk Instagram gary_wainwright_uk
