the ways that I'm pissed off right now, but first a story we had a group of students living in the dorms and a sorority at my alma mater(also where I work) schedule to do tandems. so I emailed the university paper to see if they would print a picture of mine or cover the event. what the hell, just for fun right? a skydiving pic would certainly better than the usual crap like someone blowing bubbles on a nice day. but I got a cold shoulder more or less. In today's paper, they print this well, now I'm cheesed. back to counting... 1. 1/2 ass skydiving over the real thing get printed? 2. I didn't know about it until this...free tunnel time? you bastards! 3. 4. sbb

well that blows. where did I read recently that reports are recorded and then names and/or locations were deleted and paperwork filed away? S&TA newsletter stuff or parachutist, can't remember.

with all the activity in the incidents, both non-fatal and fatal, are all the S&TA's out there doing their part and filing the paperwork for the accidents? just wondering...

Someone asked me that same question last week. Don't know your flying skills but this is what I said to him. Don't make that big of leap in performance and decrease in square ft. at at the same time. I went from a 170 diablo to 150 stilleto and then a 149 crossfire and that was plenty much. I wanted a 139 but was talked out of it by one of the elsinore guys. That's a huge leap in two different catergories and that could equal disaster. stay safe. sbb

One theory on that subject is if they are -probably- going to be jumping ellipticals in the future, why not train them as students(when they get the most attention) from the start. Kind of like the argument between ripcords and throw outs, or two handles vs one handle systems. Students will fly how the instructor teaches them, regardless of square or ellipticals. I'm indiffernt to the whole theory though

had a jumper at my dz with a pair real similar to those, about the same price. interchangeable stems(googles to sunglasses) and lens. lost them on the first jump. I'll stick toe cheap 16 dollars ones.

heh, I doubt an uncontrolled exit is not that much fun for your tandem instructor. It certainly is not my cup of tea. -

and just out of curiosity, if you did have a mal and had to cutaway, would you have left your goggles on?

I beg to differ on that one. the first step in any mal is to identify one with your eyes. however, I don't want to make an arguement about it, you proved your point by making the jump work. not sure I could do that with too many people on the radio.

that's an intersting story plummet. did you and your instructor discuss malfunctions with your black goggles on? how were you to handle them?
