PDS privided an answer that was probably right had we been talking about programming, but since we're talking about the day to day administration of an AS/400 (A unique beast indeed!), I think that PDS's answer was wrong. I'm not exactly sure what the right answer is, but I'm pretty sure that it's not dealing with libraries as you and I might understand them. - Jim actually, jim, here we are dealing with libraries in much the same way as most operating and development environments do. what may be throwing you off is that the code appears (to me, from what i am reading) to be addressed in a sql'ish nature. unless i am completely offa my rocker, libraries, even in this context, continue to be logical collections of related code and [classes|objects|routines] (depending on the flavor) and specifically in this case, the compiled libraries referenced and utilized by the operating environment. in regards to the java v .net q: java programmers are still in demand and will continue to be indefinitely. .NET environment is actually a good idea and from my experience tooling around in the various flavors it's platform independance will be much more pronounced that the current java release. i still say that c# is the javakiller. jmho. namaste, motherfucker.
