Talk to whoever ordered it and the rigger that measured you.

Yes, there are slits in the liner to slide them in. Super easy access. No visual indication from the outside.

I painted/hydrodipped mine as well. Used generic walmart primer/paint, and dupont clear. Has only been painted a few months but it seems to be holding up well. If you do it yourself, a good clearcoat will do most of the protection from bumps and sun damage.

Go 190 first. Downsizing too fast will hinder your progression, especially if you hurt yourself. I dont think you'll find many people saying "I wish I downsized sooner"...

Nothing is going to compare directly. But if you want to avoid falling out of bed I guess you could always sleep on the floor.

Things more dangerous than skydiving Texting while driving: 6000 deaths per year Falling out of bed: 450 deaths per year (USA only) Icicles: 100 people per year (Russia only) Jellyfish: 20-40 deaths per year (Philippines only) Dogs: 34 deaths per year (USA only) Falling coconuts: 150 deaths per year Champagne Corks: 24 deaths per year Ladders: 355 deaths per year (USA only) Lightning: 24000 deaths per year I'll take my chances in the sky.

I think hes just referring to suits that are specifically designed for tracking. I have no experience with them myself, I dont think my skill set is ready for them yet.

Are you looking for more bass? or just better sound? Changing just the speakers should make a big improvement. You will gain a pretty good amount of clarity from aftermarket speakers. If you want a lot of bass, you will need to look into a sub and amp. A car shop will probably be full of people that know the products, and can give you what you want (at a price of course, since you cant do the labor yourself). BB and other large retailers will just try to sell you whatever they think they can talk you into. You should do research yourself, so youre not relying on someone else to tell you what is good. As far as brand, look at reviews on amazon, crutchfield, etc... Any major brand should sound way better than stock though. Personally, I recommend finding a friend who knows about stereo stuff and paying them to do it. Would be way cheaper. Or ask around your DZ, its not too hard and im sure you could find someone willing to help.

Possible Cutaway GPS Tracker Solution - Iota
shift replied to rohicks's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Bluetooth, so only 100ft range (probably less in real applications). Might help if you lose it in a densely packed area, like trees or a corn field, but not so much if it floats away. But they are relatively cheap, kinda want to get some for my personal use. -
I have also encountered this while belly flying doing relative work. I was told the turbulent airflow can mess with the pressure and trick it into going into canopy mode.
-
Also, the downsizing checklist starts with a canopy size progression table. Basically gives you an idea of the smallest canopy you should be flying at your weight/skill level.
-
Talk to your instructors, they will be your best resource. Review the downsizing checklist posted earlier in this thread. You shouldnt downsize more than 20 sqft at a time on larger canopies, and even less on smaller canopies. I would probably look for a container that is sized for a 190. You can fit a 210 in there. Preferably, your reserve should be as big or bigger than your main. Edit: changed my size recommendations.

Ebay. Seriously.

How do I make the most out of my first jump?
shift replied to WintersKnight's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Just relax and enjoy it. Period. -
Oh man, this makes me want to try and dig up my AFF footage. You had a couple tracking transitions that were pretty entertaining to watch. Makes me wonder what I looked like :) Although, I will say in the last vid where you tracked away into the clouds and disappeared was pretty cool. Stick with it man, good luck!

How do you feel on the 240? Are you landings smooth and accurate? You obviously wouldnt want to go straight to a 188, but your DZ likely has canopies that will fill the void while you wait for your gear to arrive. With an exit weight of 190, you should be able to hand a 188 soon. For the record, I started on a Nav 240, then Nav 220, then flew a Silhouette 210 my DZ has while I was waiting on my Storm 190 which I fly now, and my exit weight is somewhere between 210 and 220. So, as said, talk to your instructors and see about transitioning to smaller canopies. There is a downsizing guide somewhere, which has recommended wing loaded for difference experience levels as well as drills to complete before you should consider moving smaller.

$125 for renting all your stuff is ridiculous. First, buy a used alti. They've been seen for $50-$80. I just bought one off ebay for $33 shipped. Next, exactly as has been stated, if you can afford $2000 down payment on a new rig you can start piecing together your own. Watch the classifieds, there's deals every now and then. I got an older javelin for $500 and a racer with reserve for $500. I've seen used mains for $500-$800, and the occasional used AAD. I should be around $2500-$3000 by the time I'm done.

Prices in USD Vector base price (new) ~$1800 PD143R (new) ~$1250 Sonic 150 (dont know who makes it) est ~$1900 Vigil II ~$1320 Price for all gear new is about $6270 USD. Minus maybe $500 for the use on the vector, couple hundred on the PDR, sonic, and vigil, I'd say its not the worst deal ever. I dont know how readily gear is available in Europe. In the US you could probably put together a cheaper rig but the gear might be older.

This was why I decided to get my own gear. Plus, its mine. I take care of my stuff, as I have a very good reason to do so. Plus it fits, its new, its pretty, etc... Also I dont have to worry about getting to the DZ and finding out the rig I use is not available (once because of an AAD battery issue, once because it was already rented). I'm 6'3" so the available rigs at my DZ were limited. When I was looking at used gear I found that a lot of canopies/reserves/AADs were basically priced depending on how much life they had left. So I could pay 1/2 price for an AAD 1/2 way through its lifespan, or full price and have it last twice as long. I'd rather just go new in that case if I can afford it. I just wish I only spent $6k lol

I'll help with what I can. You should check with Wings as to what the final cost of a container will be. It *might* be that the $2000 for a new container already contains a discount. Check out the Wings site, they have containers that are already built and ready to ship. They vary in color and options, but you get the container sooner. Typically, you can go one size up/down from the recommended canopy size for the container. So a container sized for 170 might fit a 190, down to a 150. Also, there are low-bulk canopies that pack smaller than others. A Pulse 190 packs about the size of a Sabre 170. I went with all mini rings and type 17 risers on my rig. I think they look cleaner. Standard riser length is 22" I think. You probably wont know if you want something else until you try it. How long are you planning on having the container? If you plan on using it for a long time, $150 for articulated harness is a cheap investment vs buying a new container later or paying to have it added.
