    What benefit does a first time jumper get out of atmonauti flying when the majority of the time they can't remember jack shit about the jump? I can't remember how many times i do a stable exit and the student insists they did a bunch of flips. You are unnecessarily putting a student who has no idea of the added risk in more danger. Period. Take a look at the jump numbers of the people who disagree with your opinion. Experience counts for something.     Nips??? And apparently we don't anymore, since SUV/Hummer/etc plants are being shut down. People are not buying their product anymore.     I think there are two arguments here...labors costs (whether it be management or UAW fault, doesn't matter) and their product, which at the time can't compete in MPG with Toyota & Honda when gas prices have been so high this year. I can't remember which Big 3 company's commercial it was (I think Chrysler) that bragged about it's minivan MPG at 23. 23??? HAHAHAHA, that's fucking pathetic. If the Big 3 wants to pay their workers wages that don't reflect their skill level, good for them. Make as much money as you can. My argument against a bailout is they can't compete with the more efficient "foreign" cars. I sincerely hope you have read what some of the more experienced guys have posted, as well as the manual that JP posted. The list of reasons why you shouldn't be freeflying at your jump numbers is beyond my patience to type. Especially with Family Guy about to come on...so I will give you the first reason that comes to my mind that it's a bad idea....The gear you are jumping...is it freefly friendly or not????     I can't help but laugh at the religious whackos who insist upon forcing their morality on others. Why don't you worry about the happiness of your life rather than other peoples.     Or, maybe his experience as a tandem instructor justifies his post. For the instructors who want to stand the landing up all the time, more power to them. But I always laugh when they try in conditions that don't warrant a stand up landing and end up falling on their face or laying on the students back. You are right, common sense does goes a long way. So does experience. When you have some AND you have your tandem rating with a couple thousand tandems, then go back and look at your post. See if you feel different. DZJumper: Then your TI either caught some turbulence or didn't know how to do it properly. As many experienced TI's have already said, a well executed butt slide is the safest landing to do.
