  1. I think that's the key. If you are using a weight, the time needed to go to your rig, remove the weight, come back to the bag, open the flap and orientate the bag correctly, start making the 8 figure, and close the flap (they never want to close on the first try!) offsets a big chunk of the time saved avoiding rubber bands. But if you have to change rubber bands in a tight call........ that's a different story. Then semi-stowless are way faster just because the chances of having to change rubber bands are way less. Also, there is less rocking of the bag on deployment, which can be just positive. You're doing way too many steps there.. Once in the bag, grab it and take it to container, stow the lines, put it in the container, set shoulder flaps and close it...
  2. Funny, I saw some ten SIFE's at skydie algarve this spring and they looked really bad... Could have been oversized canopies or not but it didnt look good... Havent packed one so cant comment on that either but from their site it seems they use RAX for mard so that is good...
  3. In my personal opinion SWS Fire has the best quality/price ratio at the moment and it is what I would get if I was looking for a new rig. It is well built and rigger-friendly and doesn't even look bad As a Rigger I dislike wings (for many reasons), Jumping a Mirage right now and nothing wrong with it. No experience with Icon...
  4. Google already offers a "share location" option in google maps, just click on it and share the link to your DZ's whatsapp group (or whatever)... Maps also provides driving instructions to location...
  5. Heres the page that talks about certification http://sws.aero/en/products/fire/certification/ and here you can find the manual http://sws.aero/files/content/SWS_Fire_owners_manual_08_09_ENG.pdf
  6. There are only so many ways you can design an explosive actuated cutter..
  7. Started packing at jump 5 or 6 and around 250 jumps I could nail 12min packjobs... Got my first brand new slippery piece of fabric at around 50 jumps...
  8. Packing volume is one part of the equation, all sail means much greater pack volume compared to just ribs being sail...
  9. Imagine squeezing your shoulder blades together while keeping your shoulders back and down...
  10. Chin up, open up your chest more, relax those arms and stop hugging the air... At your current level arching is not the problem, it's the rest of body... ps. spend a lot more time on low speed back flying..
  11. It's a bit on the small side but 1.0-1.1 reserve wingload is perfectly fine as long as the reserve itself is not ancient design...
  12. To begin with, that rig is ancient meaning it might be ok for belly jumps (and crw) but that's about it... If you plan on freeflying at all that container is not an option... Type 8 risers means wide risers and big hardware (the same kind as in student gear), jumpable but not modern by any means. RSL lanyard with installation is probaply less than hundred bucks if done during reserve repack, no biggie... Biggest issue would be that the container is lacking AAD and I'm not even sure if you can mod it to have one since it is so old, all in all I wouldnt bother with anything that old unless it is free...
  13. Missing seal for sure but wrongly routed sealing thread is different thing (as a rigger if I misrouted the sealing thread I would be deeply ashamed and my instructor would probaply give me instant feedback)
  14. These two would be serious neglect from the rigger and frankly I'm not sure that your run-off-the-mill jumper is even qualified to assess those...
  15. That list is really scary, I wouldnt use it at all... Or atleast it needs another category for most of the wings listed under +300 jumps right now...
  16. I'm personally a fan of Magellan (made by skylark) but I have no idea how to go about getting one in USA... Otherwise, it's a great canopy and in my opinion it outperforms sabre2 (which quite frankly is an rather old design). Nice range on rears, somewhat flatter glide which means you get back home from long spots and if you feel like swooping then that's good too...
  17. And that will in time abrade the lower junction of MLW and eventually make the rig un-airworthy...
  18. Yeah, that wingsuit bag is much closer to what I'm looking for... Preferably the pack for canopy would have someway of attaching risers (was originally thinking about velcro) and something to keep the bag from rotating... This way i'd not have to worry about canopy having line twists or risers being twisted when changing canopies...
  19. Looks nice but I already have a gear bag, just need something neat and small to carry my second canopy (on risers, with bag and pc) around :)
  20. Hey! Does anyone have a good design for canopy carry bag? I know PD sells one kind but i'd much rather build one myself...
  21. I would let him jump it....... after he had few hundred jumps on bigger and square canopies...
  22. Jumping antiquated gear hardly seems safe to me...
  23. I bet skyhelmet would be much better than G3.... Also, deem flywear for suit...
  24. Quattro or Optima would be my choice if I were buying a new one... Currently jumping protrack and optima II but would appreciate the fourth canopy alarm...

    Safire 3

Sfire and safire 3 are different canopies made by different manufacturers... NZ aerosports -> safire 3, Icarus canopies -> S fire
