Knee flying I suppose would be another way to describe it - you sit up straight, with your knees bent and wide. Liz
-
Are you trying to argue with 21 dz.commers Pics will be posted - if Deuce and Greg are onto it!!!! Did mean to mention, Dennis Rook (dz.com name - Rook, so no ringer) did an awesome bootie fly, while on grips at the end! Liz

Hey, we got it today - a 21 way sweet as record. From start to finish, the record rocked! From a base perspective - myself, Craig, Amazon and Rob (sorry don't rememeber your dz.com name!) the whole formation flew lovely - no hard docks and any major level problems, the finished formation looked awesome. Plus, track off and canopy were fab. Thanks to the camera guys - Duece and Greg for awesome footage. Liz p.s. the dz.com women's record will be broken very soon!

Hell yeah she is!!! Liz

Useless bit of info here, but more people die from donekeys per year than from plane crashes. Also, statistically, according to insurance, it is more dangerous to mountain bike or horse riding than skydiving. Liz

starting skydiving in the USA compared to FRANCE
skykittykat replied to frenchcloud's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It is more to do with the dz and their operation as to what rental prices are. When I first started out, I jumped at a military dz in the UK and the cost of hiring a PD 190 in container with cypres was around 20 GBP per day. If I hired a "sport" rig (ie, not what students used) it was 5 GBP per jump. Basically the student gear was subsidized, but the sports gear was not. Also, all the containers were new Javelins, etc. I then went to a non-military dz and paid more per jump to hire a rig that was very old and had an FXC (student gear at that). Here in Eloy, it is $65 a day to hire a full rig and the gear is newish. I hope this helps! Liz -

Unless you skydive abroad for most of the year.... Actually, Ruth is a kick ass big way skydiver. Sunny is just jealous coz it looks like our side is gonna win Liz -
I wasn't having a go at you Ron, I just hit reply on the nearest post on my screen. Maybe in the future I should just hit reply to the first post It was a general reply to where the thread was going - I always quote when replying to a specific post, like this one! Liz

Natasha is a really nice person and an awesome skydiver - she got to where she is by training HARD. It doesn't matter how much money you have - if you haven't got the drive or the skill to achieve it, it isn't going to happen. Everyone seems to be saying that she is buying this new team - did she say that in the interview? At her skydiving level now, she doesn't need to buy a team. Even if she is, what does it matter? In competition it comes down to SKILL. Most people spend a lot on coaching and she had the resources available to take her coaching to another level. Good on her. Hope she and her new team have a great year. The battle for Gold at US Nationals next year should be great to watch. Liz

Layering is the key to staying warm as layering traps heat. Get some good thin thermals (top and bottoms) and wear a couple of them at a time, plus a neck warmer (Square 2 have heaps in stock if needed). Wearing thin thermals, even two at aq time, won't bulk up your jumpsuit or restrict movement. Hands - silk liners are the best under gloves and keep your hands toasty warm. The weather is a bit up and down temperature wise here in Eloy at the moment. If you are on 1st load, yeah, rug up, otherwise it should be fine. Liz

skykittykat replied to Viking's topic in The Bonfire
There are also adult versions in the UK (by the same authour). I don't know the difference as I just read what was on hand. Like you, I didn't start reading Harry Potter at the beginning - read the first book after the 3rd book had been released and am totally hooked now! Liz -

3rd Annual Dropzone.com Skydive Arizona Holiday Boogie

The sun is shining and the wind has dropped. Unfortunately, I was preparing dinner for the Brit dz.commers (no others here at the mo), so missed out on 3 jumps this arvo. Can I ask you to bring me some UK goodies - all from Heathrow so there is no running around? Liz -
They should just post the winner's name as to win you would have had to have paid up to become a Premier Member and would therefore not be able to claim falsely. Just a thought.... Liz

It is going to be cool to see you guys again! Vicky - how is your mouth holding up? Weather is looking good - mainly 20C and above, yeah baby. There is already a group of Brit dz.commers out here at the mo (about 7 of us) and if the winds would die down, we could get some jumping in!!! Liz -
Following on from this wine and French thing, to quote Blackadder: Oh, God, God, God! What on earth was I drinking last night? My head feels like there's a Frenchman living in it. Liz

Unfortunately, the really good Aussie and Kiwi wines are hard to find in the States without paying an arm and a leg. Rosemount Estate is fine as a table wine (actually better than most Californian wines - go on flame me) and can be found in better supermarkets. 2 options - either go to Aus or find an Aussie skydiver to bring you over a bottle. WARNING, FOLLOWING IS CONTENTIOUS Religion is made up of two parts - having power and using a scapegoat. The scapegoat thing - humans have no idea why we are here, how we got here and why things happen. To put this into context, we create a scapegoat which "explains" everything and takes away any responsibilty from ourselves. Power - it is human nature that some humans will want to lead and have power over others, and other humans take a back seat and want to be lead, ie Survival of the Fittest. Both tie in with each other. A good example is this guy in the UK put out an advert saying Mail Me with no details bar his mailing address. I forget how many replies he got, but it was heaps. He could have set up his own following or religion through that. Liz
