  1. I agree your comment hookitt. I have new Wings with very bullet proof pin cover flaps, but we have also many older Wings at our DZ. Some looks like there is no change for main pin cover to stay closed, because it's so short on the older ones.
  2. Sabre2 135 loaded at ~1.2, so far only 4 BM-flights, but all openings have been great. *knocks the wood*
  3. Here's me and my friend doing that 69, washing machine, whatever exit from c207... we call it "donut". Click the picture to see next frame. The allmighty donut BTW. Yes, she is a girl and yes, it is a blast
  4. I've done 4 wingsuitflights with my Sabre2 135 loaded ~1.2:1. Total jumps with canopy ~200. Openings have been very good, but I pack it little different for wingsuit. Normally I push the nose little bit and make sure that slider is little over nose. That way I've got best results. Openings have been great, but still sometimes offheading. For wingsuit I just leave the nose open, don't push it and quarter slider without pulling it over nose. Openings have been awesome onheading but still snivelling. Couple normal jumps with this packing method, not good... Opens kinda hard without a wingsuit So, actually my Sabre2 has opened better with wingsuit overall. But I only have done 4 wingsuitflights with it, so this is just "the first thought".
  5. Just something I want to share... Last saturday I got coached and did my first Birdman jump with a Classic. It was a totally blast experience . Now waiting for next change to borrow someones suit and make more jumps. Maybe I have enough money at winter to buy my own . We also got the first BirdBabe to our DZ same day . So 2 new fliers found their wings last saturday. Thanks Mare
  6. After I got my C-lisence (in Finland), I jumped my next ~30 jumps with Merit 150. Comparing it to my Sabre2 135, that Merit actually turned faster (probably because of brakes, those were really tight/short/how ever you say it ). I didn't use frontrisers that time, so can't say anything about it. Openings were quite fast but not extremely hard. Packing was very easy . Flare was quite good, not as good as on Sabre2, but still in good hands I think it can be swooped well . Overall I could jump that canopy again, nothing really bad fealings about it... oh, maybe openings could be slower .
  7. On 2-ways we usually breakoff at 1400 meters (4500 ft) and with little bigger ways somewhere like 1500-1600 meters.
  8. From the "stable sit" thread, my post: Same will work on stand also, trust me
  9. Yep, same on my Wings. Stays tucked in after the opening. Superior pin protection One more reason to love Wings.

    stable sit

You can easily turn when sitflying by just turning your head to the direction you want to turn. You'll same time rotate your upperbody and hands to that direction. One trick that worked on me: Think that there is lots of beer behind you... That will make you turn
  11. Been there, done that (twice) with no problemos. Canopy was Navigator 220 with spring pilot chute.
  12. CCW = Counter Clock-Wise? Just a guess
  13. I have homemade freefly-suit and pants. Both made by good dressmaker and really kicks ass! I don't want to pay big money for a suit, when I can get it much cheaper using person I know for sewing. But that's just me If you have someone to sew, or you can sew yourself, make your own suit. Much cheaper and nothing worse on it (if you know what to do )
  14. I have only jumped my Sabre2 135 12 times, so not much experience from it yet, but I can still say that openings have been incredible soft everytime! This thing really snivels... long Just gotta love it
  15. SSkydiver, we have a little bit different canopy rules here in Finland. If jumper has less than 250 jumps, he can still use canopy (not fully elliptical) with wingloading max 1.3. Not of course first-time jumpers, but if you have student-B, or C-license, you can jump it. And if you are not a heavy guy, that 120 is good as long as your wingloading is under 1.3. BMFin, looks great! I also received my new Wings two weeks ago
  16. Could you give some URLs to good online pilot-chute packing manuals, if there are any? I've seen that Brian Germains "mushroom-pack", but is there any other? I'm trying to learn the best way for me, so I would like to try as many as possible
  17. I'm waiting for my Wings W-8. Should get mine on next month, can't wait fot it
  18. I had same problems on my student time, mostly on 20 sec delay. Something like 7 times after each other I started to turn slowly to right. Jumpmasters gave me tips how to prevent turning, but no help. Then, one other student told me how she performs a normal turn. I tried her way, and it worked! Suddenly my problems disapered. I realized that I can prevent that turning! My problem was on asymmetric legs. I learned to prevent turning and then controlling my legs. I'll give you same tips what I got to learn to prevent turning: 1. To check your foot position, try to tap your foots together when spinning. That puts legs to same position. 2. How to turn? Just push your other hand down. If you're turning right, just push your left hand down. I noticed, that because spinning was caused by legs, I had to push something like 20-30 cm my left hand down, but it worked. Some of my jumpmasters told too complicated way to turn for me, like "rotating" your upper body, causing left hand down ja right hand up. Never worked for me. But simple tip from other student worked. Students aren't allways dummies Try it if you want. Just pressing hand down and enjoy the turn

    Canopy

My weight is ~65 kg. I jumped my student time using Navigator 220. When I got my C-license (Finland), I have jumped my friends Merit 150 with no problems. I have now ordered my own rig, with Sabre2 135, 1:1,23. It's really up to you, what you can jump. Recommended sizes for my weight here are 135 and 150. Maybe other countrys recommend much bigger. Your storys of hospital trips makes me feel funny sometimes. I might sound like a "great hero", but not every jumper goes to hospital, if they skip one size when downsizing. These are only my thoughts. Check if you have some rules on sizes, and then ask yourself, what kinda canopy you want to jump.
  20. I jumped my student time with PD Navigator 220. After graduation I started to jump with Merit 150, with no problems. It was not too fast, it was actually very fun canopy to play with on altitude. My load on 150 is ~1:1.1. Then I tried also Sabre 170, and difference between 150 and 170 is huge. Don't want to jump anymore 170 cause it was so slow compared to that 150 It's up to you what you want to use. I like speed when I can control it, that's why I'm not nervous jumping on 150. I'm buying my own first gear and canopies what I look are 135 or 150. If you are nervous, don't take too big steps. But it you thrust yourself, go for that 150. After few jumps you'll find that 170 beeing very slow boat
  21. Well, about that cold temperature on exit altitude... I jump at Finland and on last jump I made, temperature on ground was something like -17 degrees Celcius, guess what it is on exit altitude? Yes, it's cold. (2000 meters) I use 2 pants and 3 shirts under my jumpsuit, wear two gloves (top ones are WindStopper) with no problems on handles. Actually I could wear even more clothes, with no problems. With those clothes I'm enough warm, and enjoy jumping
  22. Haha! That packing style rox! I think I'll start to use it BTW. Nice video.
  23. Thank you all of your tips! I had my S/L graduation jump last saturday here at Utti DZ and we made a 5-way freefly jump Here is a pic off my sit, I think it's already better than those earlier ones. Take a look and tell what you think.
