Sounds like you should head for Raeford, Parkton, or Louisburg then. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

My teammate has a FreeZR and has had at least two face shields crack on him. By my estimation, the design is flawed in that it requires too much attention to details when opening and closing. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

There are several that are all nice. For me it would be between Vector and Infinity. If both had sky hooks I'd go with Infinity. Since Infinity doesn't, I'd go vector. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Everyone who loves it when a hot, melted, burning glob of nylon drops down your neck sign in here! -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Michel Fournier High Altitude Record Attempt (again)?
darkwing replied to ltdiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I beg to differ. The is enough air to float the balloon, and after he gets a little speed up (not very long really) he'll feel plenty of wind. At terminal, it will fell pretty much like regular freefall. The air drag then equals his total weight. -- Jeff My Skydiving History -
Point out the problem if it isn't you. If it is you, then stop the skydive, get flat, secure the handle (taking care to keep track of altitude), dump the main, and do whatever is necessary afterwards. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Yikes, couldn't have been spectra, as that would require a reline every hundred jumps! -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Yes, it is true, and as a rigger I'm against it. There are much better ways to determine airworthiness. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

risers, toggles, main-bag and pilot chute?
darkwing replied to mostwanted's topic in Gear and Rigging
I beg to differ. Toggles go with the risers, since most toggles are designed for a specific riser. -- Jeff My Skydiving History -
In 33 years of jumping I have logged every one, and an super glad I did. I wish I had written more. I think that everyone who stops logging, or haphazardly logs, will eventually regret it. It is one of those things that NOBODY regrets doing too much and most people regret not doing enough. Going through my logbooks a couple of years ago is what prompted me to put together my skydiving history web page. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Depleted uranium would work better than lead. Heck our military shoots it all over the world. Maybe go collect some. Seriously though, a friend uses a steel chain and wraps it around his waist. The rod the links are made from is about 1/2 inch thick. The practical reality is that if you aren't using lead, probably steel is it. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

another possibility is to arrange a fast turnaround repack at your destination... -- Jeff My Skydiving History

you got me. That isn't where lines wear out anyway. I suppose you could say that lines last longer compared to hard links if you don't have slider bumpers, and the messed up grommets wear out the lines, but that is lame. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

I did the trailer rental a couple of years ago from Gardner RV. Robert was great to deal with--> robert@gardnerrv.com you might also try their general information email, in case robert is there any more... --> info@gardnerrv.com I'm not going to make it to the Prairie this year, because I'll be in China for 6 months! -- Jeff My Skydiving History

I have not heard of a riser breaking there, but it could happen I suppose. Have it looked at by a rigger. I don't recommend automatic replacement of parts at a given number of jumps, but rather based on inspection. There are too many variables. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Crackheads aren't known for their intelligence. Lets hope it shows up soon, and locally. Maybe post the reward info on the car? -- Jeff My Skydiving History

If the knee position is any indicator, probably not an experienced jumper. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Raeford is close to I-95, and Southern Comfort Skydiving is essentially on I-95. I like Raeford a lot, but I have never been to Southern Comfort. I have friends who speak highly of it though. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Lexa, it seems possible that your emails got tagged as spam, since they come from a foreign place, although I can't use that to explain the fax problem. ParaGear has a long history of good business practices, so I have to think there is some special problem with your order. Perhaps someone here could contact them for you? -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Yet another tale in my LONG list of why people shouln't do Mr. Bills. Ah to be young and invulnerable again... -- Jeff My Skydiving History

My personal view, based on 33 years in the sport, is that accident rates at individual dropzones are overwhelmingly dictated by two things: 1) More active DZs have more accidents, because they have more jumpers. 2) Small number statistics (which basically means you can't draw any meaningful conclusions about things that only happen a few times) -- Jeff My Skydiving History

Problem with dropzone / operator
darkwing replied to voltage's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I am sorry for your troubles, and I hope you don't let it hurt your interest in the sport. -- Jeff My Skydiving History -

I like #1, but give the grippers some color. -- Jeff My Skydiving History -
Stratostar - I will wait to hear what DJL says, but I didn't read his posting to be an attack on you, but rather a response to the bored guy. You are way too sensitive/harsh/easy to be offended. I'll save you the trouble and tell myself to fuck off for you. Stay mellow. -- Jeff My Skydiving History

I'll be there for the weekend, so I can cheer them on. It would be fun to be on the jumps, but I can't be there until Saturday. I would like to meet you though. (who wouldn't?) -- Jeff My Skydiving History
