  1. Yes, I do! Grew up on the Oregon Coast and lived in Portland years ago! I agree, OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) is a hands-on fun thing for kids. Also, there used to be an old turn-of-the-century carousel at the Jantzen Beach Mall. Kids of all ages like it. If you and your girlfriend have some kid-free time, visit Powell's Books. They give you a map upon entering...seriously, you could spend hours there. Agree to meet after a certain time...I found some old Dan Poynter books. They have everything! There's a restaurant called the Oyster Bar in the same old town/downtown area that's been there for decades. Downtown is very pedestrian/bicyle friendly. If you have time to drive to Oregon Coast, head for Depoe Bay and the Spouting Horn Restaurant. Order Fish and Chips, small shrimp/crab salad, and some of Betty's homemade pies (famous in the NW). Tell her "Puddy Cat" sent ya!! You're going to have a great trip...enjoy the spectacular scenery. ***************** Attitude is everything!
  2. Several of us were discussing this at our dz this weekend....and we were all appalled and very sad for his family. Mr. Nelson was referred to as an 'icon' by those who knew him... Farewell, Mr. Nelson. Blue Skies Forever. ***************** Attitude is everything!
  3. S Darling....Final White Logo, and that's my Final Answer. It's good to let the rest of the world see and read the words: Dropzone.com...might be a conversation piece in line at the supermarket or the airport!! :) D. ***************** Attitude is everything!
  4. Still crazy after all these years...and proud of it. My daughter once said "Mom, you're not normal and that's okay with me". God love her! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  5. I'd like to think mine are proud of me, but since they're dead I'm not sure! I know my father was really tickled when I got my private pilot's license (in the late '70's). My mom may actually have done a tandem given her adventurous spirit and a beer!! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  6. Both! But you have to get the riff raff out of the way...CLEAR THE PATH, Girlfriend. There are some very fine men out there but if they perceive you are 'involved' they will look elsewhere. And it's true, when you least expect it, you'll meet someone special! :) ***************** Attitude is everything!
  7. THANK YOU for printing this! I have a friend who is determined to downsize and those of us around him/her strongly advised against it. All of our best advice, AFF instructors included, has been kicked aside. We fear this person is going to be seriously injured or worse...ego clouding judgment. This sport is unforgiving of mistakes. Oh, you might get away with a few, but eventually it will bite you big time. You can't just pull over to the side of the road if something goes wrong... ***************** Attitude is everything!
  8. Jimbo is absolutely right! Why? Because your instructors have a fair assessment of your canopy and landing skills. Keep your ego (and that of others) out of your downsizing decision making process and you'll live to skydive a very long time. And that's what it's really all about: Making a skydive, having fun, being safe, and walking (that's walking) off the landing area to manifest and jump again!! :) ***************** Attitude is everything!
  9. You can...just gotta clear the path. Heh heh heh... ***************** Attitude is everything!
  10. Guess you weren't a first round draft pick...actually, college base/foot ball is a lot more fun than the pros any day of the week! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  11. Sammy was thinking with his little head instead of his big head.... Baseball is for wooden bats, no corks, no pine tar, no crying! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  12. It's a cute pic, you like it, leave it be, let them eat cake! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  13. IF you go into a serious relationship with that attitude then you've already signed the death knell! NO, you don't get back gifts. Gifts are given unconditionally. Now, it would seem the fiance would do the right thing and return the ring if an engagement was broken, but once you're married, the ring is hers. Whatever happened to 'in sickness and in health, for richer, for poorer'... Love is an emotion, commitment is a choice. A fine team when it's allowed to thrive. :) ***************** Attitude is everything!
  14. Thanks, I'll ask about it this weekend! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  15. Sorry, Skymama! Forgot my manners and my self there for a minute. I'll go stand in the corner, briefly. Thank you for the kindly reprimand. :) ***************** Attitude is everything!
  16. Now wouldn't that be nice? And wouldn't the taxpayers just love it?! No, I actually get to hike through flooded, tornadoed, mudded, neighborhoods in 98' temps, bringing the word of consumer protection (okay, let the jokes begin) to the folks who are trying to dig out. I also train with a team to respond to bio/chem/terrorist disasters. Bedtime reading is Jane's Chem-Bio Handbook....scarier than skydiving for sure! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  17. P.S. IF you give your life's love a big fat diamond she can always look you in the eye and say, "Oh honey, it's so big and hard" and mean it every time... :) ***************** Attitude is everything!
  18. If the rings are as you state, then try not to be in a hurry to sell low. A good diamond holds its value. Of course you're not talking investment quality, but certainly jewelry quality diamonds, in a proper setting, have a fair market resale value, too. I had my set appraised and while I won't get the insurance appraisal amount for it, I could still ask and receive a whole lot more than was paid 10 years ago. In fact, the diamond dealer, whose office is in a bank vault(!!), suggested my ring was good enough to keep and not part with for less than 4 grand! But it is sooooo tempting, now that I skydive, to put it out there. And Ebay is NOT an option, too many risks involved. Hmmm, anyone love their significant other enough to purchase a 1 carat, round brilliant, SI1, G-H Color ring???? ***************** Attitude is everything!
  19. Hello "Arthur", my birth name is Donna, but you may call me Princess! My fancy shmancy business card says I am a Disaster Response Coordinator for a State agency. I also appear on the Emergency Management Council and other entities for this agency. The truth is that I love what I do because I have direct contact with and an opportunity to help victims of disasters (natural or man-made). I also work with people who are very dedicated. The stressful part of the truth is that I do NOT take home a big salary, but I can and do buy Top Ramen by the case (it's all about the skydive)!! At one time in my life I earned the PP SEL license, but now I have the best of both worlds: I fly up in a small plane and then get to jump out! Skydiving is as close as humans can come to flying since we lost the ability so very long ago... ***************** Attitude is everything!
  20. Oh, come on, Johnny, tell 'em the truth...that you're always spilling something down the front of your shirt, quick, look now, it's there. I promise... ***************** Attitude is everything!
  21. I'd like to visit the Rain Forest, please. ***************** Attitude is everything!
  22. I'm poor, but have been paying for pack jobs, but haven't tipped actual money. I completely respect my packers, stow my brakes, unstow the slider, bring them drinks sometimes, or food, whatever. They take care of me all the time, every time. Like you, I need to get with the packing program and really give you a high five for learning to pack faster! I'm a small person and my biggest challenge has always been bagging the bugger! Closing isn't the problem. And my frustration has come from so many 'helpers' each showing me their own special way to bag it. Whaaaaaaaaaaa, quick someone call the whaaaaaaaaaammbulance for me! I need to go to remedial packing school, very soon (right Brandy, Jeff, Kevin?). ***************** Attitude is everything!
  23. I hate Barney. Barney is a plagiarist. Barney must die. Sesame Street Rules! ***************** Attitude is everything!
  24. I consider myself a Born Again Texan! Grew up on the Oregon Coast, looking at the Pacific Ocean every morning. Texans have similar, independant attitudes. Hmm...maybe I'm a Texoregon...snicker snicker snicker...or I'd like one...wait a minute, now you're confusing me with Aggie Talk! Purple. ***************** Attitude is everything!
  25. Neither. I am a Purplist. Someday, millions of years from now, we shall evolve into one color. And that color shall be PURPLE. Heh heh heh....we're working on altering the skin pigment dna right now... ***************** Attitude is everything!
