Then you may wanna check out some crazy low-pulling BASErs. Scary stuff.

Uh oh, using that method I'm... something called Dirk Longfella... yikes
-
Please call me Butch Playah from now on

It's been a looong time since I ordered that tee... They're still 'under construction' or whatever. I'm still not getting any reaction to my emails. I don't really know what to do here. What do yall think? Should I take some kind of legal action against the guy to whom the website belongs? Should I talk to my bank and try to, what, get my money back? Or just wait until they (xtremerags) "reopen"? It's not that big of a deal moneywise, only around $20, but still - my credit card info is out there somewhere... I'm kinda lost and idle here.
-
Congrats yall!! Will any wall posters of this beauty be printed? I'm proud to be a (small and distant) part of all this... I mean, not the CReW but skydiving as a whole.

A hypothetical beer or real?
-
It IS worth it even if you don't save a single penny on the whole op... Just to have the satisfaction of beating the Man, if only in a small battle By the way, assuming that the hypothetical man sticks to the plan: can anyone think of a way to sort of skip the middle man? Say, ship to some dummy location, and then provide the shipping agency with the correct address. Sumn like that. I dunno, haven't given it any serious thought yet.

This is kinda old thread but... so what?

Yep, this is Texas, there could be no mistake...

Im in Austin, anything within 1-1.5 hours drive (or even a bit more) is fine. Ill be riding the trails in the woods and the like, most of the time. About a year ago I was trying some basic tricks with my super-crappy bike (it only had front suspension, if that's the correct way to say it). I couldn't even get close to figuring out the bunny hops - how do you make the bike jump off the ground without your feet strapped to the pedals?!
-
Haven't posted here in quite a while... here's the question: I'm getting a bike. I'm 6'2", and a couple of people told me that a bike with 24" wheels will be too small for me. What do you guys n girls think? Should I get 24" or 26"? 26 looks a little too big and unmaneuverable to me, but I dunno really. I'm getting one with dual suspension - finally. But it's gonna be cheap and therefore sort of crappy, but oh well, whatever. (Sure I really would like a bike with a light aluminium frame, disc brakes (yeah right with ABS ), and so on, but those start at like $400-500, which is way over my limit right now.) And which qualities of a mtb do you consider most important? Happy Thanksgiving y'all, and of course happy shopping tomorrow P.S. Anyone with knowledge of good trails in central Texas area?

How much longer are you grounded????
Frodo replied to funks's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Broke my ankle on last jump, grounded for 1-2 months maybe... But I'll probably be doing other things for some time, and will get back to jumping outta them planes by Christmas. Gotta do PLF, gotta do PLF... -
Thats cool... but how bout a russian forum as well? (Tolko mne pridetsa pechatat translitom, u mena na klave russkie bukovki ne nakleeni )

If you have ever bought a tee from Xtreme Rags, have you encountered any problems? It's been more than 2 weeks since I placed my order, and they were quick to take money off my card, but not so quick in delivering or answering emails. Now I'm calling the number they placed on the website (note: no address info), but it says the number's not in service... *sniff-sniff* Kinda suspicious methinks. Ahh... probably should've called them beforehand. Will be a lesson for me, in case this is a fraud.

Wow, this was scary to watch. Was this an over-delay? or was it planned this way, is it common, or what? Here's a view from the ground. The jumper is like, what, 40 feet AGL when the canopy opens... Sorry if I'm missing something but I'm confused about how even the most extreme hardcore base-jumper can willfully do this kind of stuff. Damn... (Here's the site: http://12secondes.free.fr/ Some pretty cool videos. edit> you need DivX though.)

I used to be 17 and skydiving 3 months ago, why?
-
Wow, that's one helluva coincidence, I wanted to post the same thing now, but you beat me by 3 days.... Yep, that page is a gem, no doubt. Gave me at least 5 minutes of good laughter the first time I saw it lol

... I mean everything clear except this part! That is, the altimeters on the watches are made for activities like climbing, where your altitude changes slowly, so they update their info every 10-15 seconds. How can you (safely) use that for skydiving?!
-
Yep, thanks to all of you for making this stuff clear to me

Ok, here's a general question: is there a website that can convert exact addresses or zip-codes into Lat/Long coordinates? For example if you know where you're going and want to enter that destination into the GPS. (Mapquest allows to get maps from the given coordinates, but I need it the other way around.) I'm googling it right now but I thought maybe someone knew.
-
I need it for simple stuff like mountain biking or just finding my destination in an unfamiliar region - while driving, for example. Not for skydiving. And I don't think I need the uploadable maps that much. What's worse is that the other unit (etrex venture) that's loaded with a lot of other features, like city database, WAAS (more accuracy), etc. - also has N/A under compass... I'll probably consider these four: etrex, etrex venture, geko 101 and 201. But the lack of compass really confuses me.
-
I'm looking for a basic & cheap GPS unit, and the cheapest seems to be the Garmin eTrex. (well yes there is also the small Geko, but it's too basic.) I'm just confused with this part: Built-In Electronic Compass: N/A. How come? If a GPS can guide you to your waypoints, then it's not hard to include a compass screen in it as well. Maybe I'm getting something wrong, and actually there is a compass? In fact, the attached image does show one. Aside from it, what are your experiences with using this or another GPS?

Last night I had this dream, it felt quite real though, and I can visualize every detail of it now. I was on top of a radio tower, maybe 500 and maybe 1000 feet tall; midway it had a wider part, with all the antennas and dishes and stuff, so it looked unsafe to jump, but do-able if one jumps from a corner... I got myself to the top, it was so small I could barely stand there, the smallest wind could throw me off. The tower was in the sea, so in a sense it looked like an oil rig. I was freakin' TERRIFIED! Standing high up there, and knowing I was about to set myself free for a few seconds... Also feared that something might prevent me from launching perfectly or reaching for the pilot chute within a few seconds. But the horror was mixed with this exhiliaration (like during your first skydive, only much stronger!). But even more frightening was the option of climbing back down. Just didn't want to. The rush, the urge to do this jump became irresistible, heart started beating hundreds of beats per minute... The jump itself was from another place - you know, the way dreams use to transform one into another... When I woke up, I thought about it a lot. Guys, does this (kind of) describe how you feel on a jump? Cos if yes, I wanna BASE-jump!
