TAMMY IS ALIVE AND WELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She called me just now. They picked them up and took them to a shelter somewhere in the area.

I got in contact with some of Tammy's family and she called them while in the process of making a hole in the roof. At least I know she was on the right track. Also, several thousand people have now been rescued from St. Bernard and they're kept in various shelters in the area. No idea how long until communication with them.

The news says they rescued about 100 people from the roofs in her area and they are flying them to Baton Rouge. Hopefully she is with this group and will contact someone tonight.

I walked down to the world's fair park earlier. I needed to get out and stop watching 2 blogs, a video stream, and websites of weather news at the same time. I sat on a park bench and cried. The homeless people stared at me. I like feeling the rain, I know she is wet too from the same storm and it makes me feel closer.

Things have gone down hill rapidly in the last hour. The water cleared the St. Bernard levees and Tammy is now in her attic, the water is at least 4 or 5 feet in her house

Tammy is doing ok. They lost power at around 6 this morning but she hasn't lost cell phone service all night! The eye is just a few miles east of her right now. A tree is down in her backyard but that's about all the damage right now. There's no flooding either. It really veared east and spared NOLA the brunt of it.

Tammy is in New Orleans with her family. Her nephew's funeral was Friday and her neice's is supposed to be on Tuesday. Her family has never left for any hurricane. They haven't boarded up a single window or picked up one sand bag...

Me and my girlfriend watched it with my mom the other day and we really liked it too. If you have the DVD you have to watch all of the deleted scenes!

Tammy flew to New Orleans this morning to be with her family. She may end up dropping out of school for the semester to be with her dad. He's going to need alot of comforting since his house is suddenly empty.

He lived with Tammy and her dad for the last year or so. His short life was filled with neglect and abuse until her dad took him in. We knew he had a problem with alcohol and her dad had no tolerance for it. He almost threw him out the one time he caught his friends with beer at the house and since then Brian told us he wasn't drinking anymore. He died and his sister died in the crash. His other sister is in critical condition. One of their friends died and another is in critical condition. They were all teenagers. Her father is having a very hard time with this. Not only did he lose 2 grandchildren (one practically a son) but the circumstances make it worse. So please remember her family this week and recognize the kind of pain drinking and driving can cause.

I went to a rest area late at night in nothern Alabama to use the restroom. When I got back to my car there was a note on the windshield that said, "I want to suck" The creepy part was that there wasn't anyone there except for a family with like 5 kids parked right next to my car. So disturbing....

I have a paper and class presentation in my anthropology class on "anything I enjoy doing." So of course I'm doing skydiving. I thought I would introduce the disciplines and then talk about the broad range of people in the sport (ages, wealth, families, introverts/extroverts). Then I'm going to discuss the marketing of the term "extreme sports." Any other culturally relevant things I should discuss?? Thanks alot!
