  1. Thanks for sharing Tom.
  2. Latourelle is a beautiful place for Dwain's memorial. See you Sunday.
  3. This is all very late, but this is probably the first time in months I've been able to sit down at a computer for any reasonable length of time. Sandy and I were married at TF last month and want to say THANKYOU! to everyone that either attended or sent us their best wishes. To those that were there: Tom, Steve, Mark, Miles, Bryan, Luke, Chad, Stephanie, Grace, Craig, DJ, Ray, Slim, Al, Nathan, LJ, Raistlin, Ian, Des, Matt, Ron, Hazel, Dave, Theresa, Bert, Don and a large portion of tourists and residents of TF.....it was wonderful sharing our big day with all of you! I finally got a K visa to cross the border after 8 months waiting and started work a few weeks ago. Getting ready to amp up some jumping for the latter part of the year. Drop me a line if you're passing through PDX....first pint's on us. (I'm pretty sure this post falls within the forum guidelines Tom, please edit if I'm wrong...thanks)

    What's in a number?

Congrats Eddy Skinflicka couldn't have said it better. I think of my number as a tribute to the efforts of Carl Boenish and the pioneers before us. B.A.S.E. Rocks!
  5. Yeah...if only he had been wearing a rig...he wouldn't have been hurt half as much. I recall some phat 6 second hucks offa those cliffs before the big 'whump' There's a cliff jump in Moab named after him.
  6. 7 days to go... ...and I've got the gear issues figured out. But this is 'Kokaneegirl', my JM (jumpmistress) Should I be worried? *gulp*
  7. Only in Canada....The best 'reality' show on TV. LMFAO on last night's episode. Even after a gunfight and a rollover Julian's still got his full glass of rum and coke! http://www.showcase.ca/trailerparkboys/ Here's to Freedom 35!
  8. Thanks for all the input. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of concensus as to what it's for so I think I'll play it smart and just ignore it. Again, thanks for your time.
  9. OK...I'm about to make a skydive in 2 weeks time. I haven't jumped from a plane in 8 months. Can someone point out what that extra handle on my left main lift web is for? Any help appreciated.

    Average age?

    >>5 year BASE career Thank goodness this moronic behavior wears off eventually. 2 more years to go, then I can do something constructive with my life.

OOOOOhhhh....pugs are the BEST small dogs! Congratulations! I used to have a pug named Rosie. They have so much character. Do you have a picture?
  12. Bonjour Simon-Pierre! I really enjoyed my trip out to Quebec last summer. Doesn't look like the IMAX movie is coming out west anytime soon. Say "Allo" to Martin, Mario and everyone at Atmosphair! Spence

    McConkey ??

My experience is that rollover's (excuse me, McConkeys) open somewhere in between a PCA and go'n'throw. Some other points: 1) Using a vented/valved canopy opens quicker 2) Using a tailgate/slider MAY prevent lineovers...but my preference is good pre-jump line management and a strong launch to minimize line slack...so I go without. Tailgate (and obviously a slider) definitely impede opening times! 3) Spreading the risers (and in turn the deflated cells) prior to launch promotes early inflation (doesn't work when using a tailgate) 3) Good launch OUT is paramount! 4) Getting on the toggles TOO early can make the canopy surge down in front of you. I don't really like to say how low I've gone from since this is a 'beginners' forum....but I've got it down to reproducible 'safe' 3-3 1/2 second flights from toggle release w/standup landings.

    Slope soaring

Hi Bill Yes, I'm interested in remote alpine launch points rather than the 'parkyercar-getoutngo' scenario. How heavy was your system? Did you fly in any turbulent conditions? Did you ever have the airfoil fold on itself? I know these questions are better directed towards a paragliding forum but I thought I'd start here. (besides this way I won't miss any tittie-bar posts!) Thanks

    Slope soaring

Does anyone here paraglide? Any experience with the lighter 'hiking' systems? I foot launched my BASE canopy down a mountain side last summer and it got me interested. Thanks

Just a thought....Should we end this low altitude talk on this particular forum. Someone may believe this stuff is generally workable and get hurt or worse base587eh@yahoo.com
