I stayed at the Motel 6 near the Orlando tunnel on Saturday night. It's left about a block down Int'l Dr. from the tunnel and sits a block back on the left. Rooms were brand new and clean. There were a lot of loud families on the 3rd floor, which quieted down by 11pm. Two institutional firm but not like a rock mattresses. Triangular shower. I was surprised by the lobby's security though. Cheap formica/particle board furniture. No shampoo. Great a/c thermostat. So is organized crime. Don't mix criminal activity with business. Keeping on "Pops" who made the company a lot of cash over the years does benefit the company. People like you who have many years to work are less likely to leave if they think there will be a future there for them until they retire. Unfortunately, many companies like to force people out when they get older for a variety of reasons and replace them with younger blood and in turn, the upcoming stars get hired away because there is no reason for loyality. back before taxes, the wealthy were expected to be patrons of the arts and many still are today. It has nothing to do with profit. Carnefie Hall is also a poor example because rarely do for-profit corporations have "friends" who give them money. There are two different purposes for the organizations: business and art. Many companies do things to keep productive employees happy. It may cost a little more, but positively affects the bottom line in the long run. Businesses are driven by profit. I have Pilot Avionics ANR (burgundy color). It was the middle one at the time. Half the time, I would forget to turn them on but I could hear a difference. Yes, it is the government's fault from Jimmy Carter through Bush that we did not engage in a protectionism for our workers. While big bloated US companies sat on their asses, the Japanese killed us in the auto industry. The reason why Japan now takes a helluva a lot of money home from cars is because Ford and GM couldn't comprehend making what the customer wanted and the Japanese listened and made it cheaper. We failed to stay competitive and it cost us dearly. How many jobs did we lose with the status quo? We're talking about a loss of the demand side in the economy coupled with bad business decisions in the past, not Chinese-made frosted flakes (although store brands cut into Kellogg's profits and added other jobs to the economy in the process ).
