  16. German wines in college German class. They classify their wines well: (I think) 3 quality levels and 8 relating to when the grapes were harvested, but they are mostly white and I like reds. Mostly, I found a guy an the liquor store to talk to and tried a bunch of wines. I just tried a cheap Argentinian that was good and have found some good wines from Spain, but both seemed to be heavier than some people would like. I never tried this, but there's a free demo: wine spectator school -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

  18. I doubt Rockefeller or Carnigie would agree with you. John D donated hundreds of millions of dollars because he wanted to and thought it was his duty, Carnigie also agreed with him. Carnegie considered philanthropy a moral imperative. Bill Gates and his wife said the following when asked about their foundation: "It was our commitment 10 years ago that whatever wealth we earn we will give back to the society." Aside from the definition of duty of which we disagree, consider that Carnegie and Rockefeller earned their money before income taxes. (I won't discuss any business practices of the times.) But, imagine having that money to spend on philanthropic causes or whatever you wanted. Gates has more money than he can ever spend and would pay billions in estate and income taxes. Wealthy people love money and hate taxes. So, like other wealthy families, Gates has set up a charitable foundation with tax benefits that he controls. He's deciding how his money is going to be spent rather than politicians. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. 19. Generally, no. The last guy I gave money to walked across the street, waved a guy over, made a smoking action and bought crack. If I saw the wife/child, I would be inclined to hand a cabby $20 or buy the formula. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. 20. No, they don't. The generousity of those nations should not be confused with an obligation. Years ago, the wealthy felt an obligation to patronize the arts and engage in philanthropy because of their "station in life." That wasn't morality, but rather ego stroking and peer pressure. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

  22. Last I checked, SH is not in power and not sending in these insurgents. Total miscaculation by the war mongers Bush & Co. I remember hearing the Middle East experts on the news before the invasion start in March 2003 - saying that even with the head cut off, Iraq would never settle for American power in their country. Too bad Bush never listened to any of the experts - he fired anyone that disagreed with him. I'd like to hear what all of those people have to say right now. If he had been dealt with earlier, his network would have been less deeply entrenched. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. 23. That's a very narrowminded view. The problems were not caused by socialism, but politicians spending taxpayer savings, instead of rasing taxes and paying as they went. It boggles my mind how many people have been fooled into believing living on credit is fiscal reponsibility. Socialism has strengths, and weaknesses, just like capitalism does. They are just different strengths and weaknesses. Er, no!! People should fend for themselves and the government provide for the minimum necesary to survive. That means social security, the country's greatest failure, should only provide for a few years not as much as the time spent working. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v.
