promise5, I want to try and help you. Watching you post in this thread and the other thread has been like watching a slow motion train wreck. You have been completely demolished. I was going to write "your argument has been completely demolished" but you haven't actually put forward an argument, because even the most basic argument must be supported by some facts/evidence and you have presented precisely none. I just don't understand your rationale as to why you are continuing to post. You have absolutely zero chance of "winning" or of changing anyone's mind. Your skills are too weak. It seems to me like you came into these two threads with the incredibly naive view that your opinion would be well-received. I want to ask you honestly: do you often engage with people who have opposing views to you own? Based on what you have posted recently you seem both bewildered and confused that people are arguing against your position. At this point it's like watching a bunch of people clubbing a baby seal to death. For the love of god, just stop posting.

LOL WAT

I think this is one of the most honest posts ever made on this forum. It has no pretentions of logic or argument. I admire it because it's the most straightforward written form of curling up into a ball, closing your eyes, covering your ears, and shouting "NAH NAH I CAN'T HEAR YOU". There is no invitation to any kind of dissenting view. It simply says: nothing you can say will change my mind. I'm sure we can all sympathize... "If only the world didn't have other people in it with their offensive dissenting views. If only they all just went away. If only I was the only one who gets to decide..." Perversely, the thought is expressed on a forum where the purpose is debate! And in that sense it has absolutely no value whatsoever - literally none. Just a position statement: "I disagree". So bold... so honest. It speaks ten times more about the author than the sum total of her words. Amazing on so many levels. Post of the year in my view.

Let's solve the gummint's money problems for them

LOL WAT? I don't think you've thought this through. Let's try something else: let's say that your proposal regarding this mass extermination became law. Would you be prepared to be the person that pulls the trigger on these people? It wouldn't be very efficient to line them all up against a wall though would it... it would be better to have some kind of mass-extermination mechanism, maybe gassing? After all, the government says they're guilty. -

That is callous beyond belief. Seriously, where is your humanity? And what about false imprisonment? -
i feel like freefly is dead. What is your perception?

So you disagree with the two points I made: that people's ability to skydive is affected by the economy, and that belly flying is easier than freeflying? Er, okay dude, believe whatever you like. -

-- The ability of people to skydive is affected by the economy and the economy is not doing very well. -- FF has always had a higher barrier to entry than belly flying (it takes more practice to FF and it's harder to find jump partners generally). The combination of these two things is creating the effect you're seeing. That said, we should realize that FF will always be a niche discipline within skydiving. -
LOL wat?

I posted what someone had said that has first hand knowledge. Maybe I was not clear enough, but it is not hearsay. That story you just posted? That's the definition of hearsay. Hearsay is information gathered by one person from another person concerning some event, condition, or thing of which the first person had no direct experience. You have no direct experience in the matter, you're just passing on third hand information. Fair enough, let's put that aside. Now, look at that photographic comparison that was posted earlier in the thread - what do you say to that?
-
Yeah, that photograph in page 2 of the thread speaks volumes. I just don't see how anyone can look at that photograph and say that PD just happened to come up with a design that is essentially identical.

ONCHUTE - weekender totally owned you in this thread, as is plain for everyone to see.

The Best Pro Firearms Statement I've Ever Read
93626392 replied to Gene03's topic in Speakers Corner
But that's really the point, isn't it. Subjects such as this shouldn't be reduced to the point where very important aspects are not revealed or discussed. In that sense, Major Caudill's oversimplification of the reality of the situation does a disservice. -

Major Caudill's model is flawed because it's too simple. From the point of view of an individual with a gun, the gun has a positive effect. But there are negative effects - externalities - associated with mass gun ownership. People can steal guns to kill children, for example. The question is whether those negative externalities as a whole associated with gun ownership are acceptable or not. That ultimately is society. His argument seems like a 'slam dunk', but in reality he is oversimplifying.
