Because packing in the USA is regulated by the Federal Government via the FAA, not the USPA. This is why, in the BSR's, you only see refenences to packing you main canopy, not others. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Last I heard, it was determined that "Under the supervision of a rigger" meant there was one on the DZ for questions, should they arise. While true that many of these packers are not riggers, all that I have dealt with were trained, and supervised by one. Packing Cathy's people are a good example. The majority of them are not riggers, but she is. She also stands behind her work. You have a mal and a reserve ride due to a packing error from one of her staff, she repacks your reserve free. Personally, I have paid a packer twice, and got the 2 hardest opening I have ever had (I fly Sabre's) from them. I trust my packjobs, and unless I absolutely MUST have it done by someone (debrief and hot load, ect.), I pack my own. It's your life, live it! open up a photo editer. Make a new project, sized the same as your screen. Get the colors right, then hit Fctn-Prt Screen. Go to the photo program, and paste the image (rt click-paste). Works for me! It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Length? Aerial would be great! Remember after September things get a bit dicey of regulations. If all you have is a "C", go NOW and do the beach jumps, cause it's gonna be a "D" soon. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Looking at your Richmond pics, I saw the C130. It brought back strong visions of Rantoul... Oh, when will August get here??? I'm going to go nestle, all snug in my bed, with visions of Herc jumps dancing in my head.... It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

What I was told last year, is the landing area is smaller at the beach, and it's on the water (duh). Water training is required to get the "B", and the size of the landing area is iffy, so they made it a "C" requirement there to make sure all qualified. "C"s for beach jumps are not standard. It varies dz to dz. Last I heard, Emerald Coast required a "B" and water landing gear. Just call before you go to make sure you meet the qualifications. This is the reason I didn't go last year. If I'm going to travel all the way to a coastal DZ, I'm doing a beach jump, preferably a sunset one! Since I didn't meet the quals last year, I didn't go. This year it all depends on the $$$. Edit to add: I meant organized beach jumps. If you just want to jump into a beach in you town, that's a different matter. It would probably be considered a demo jump and would most likely require a PRO rating, and at the very least a "D", thanks to the new USPA regulations. As for the actual size of the beach down by Gold Coast, they should measure it, since come September the requirements change...hope it's bigger than 12 acres or so.... It's your life, live it! Well, OK, juzst one. I love how the link in the forums to the "Full profile" brings up a pop up window. Tis is great, since I need not punch the back button to get back to where I was, or lose my place. Do you think it would be possible to do the same for the "Short profile" links? Damn, now that's a cool photo! you know, I never pictured the risk taking BASE jumpers as being the "Helmet wearing type". Well, it's not like I've never been wrong before. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Geez, are all the greenies in here from warm climates? Go ahead, rub it in, we can take it. Would someone please tell them to stop? I can't take it anymore. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Wow, I'm not sure what the time difference is, but I guess it's the middle of the night there? 67 seems like a reasonable middle of the night temperature. I mean, you still have to wear a sweatshirt, but it's not freezing or anything. 67? Sweatshirt? Hell, I'd be up for skinnydipping at that temp! Tom, do you realize I, um, er, have no idea what your picture icon is? It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Nah, that won't work.....that's pretty much the starting procedure for every one of my landings. Don Well, then. You are jumping at Jean, right JT? 14,000? How's your glide ratio? When you get some good, strong uppers from the Southwest, "accidentally" pop out of the plane, then aim for the Circus Circus roof! If you make it, the nice boys in blue will help you quit for awhile. If you don't, well, I hope you can land in packed parking lots! It's your life, live it! Very good point Michael. With the official organizers, Don picks up the tab, leaving more jumps for us. Now, combine Mary, Bill, Winsor, Lisa, ect of the "Official" organizers, and you'll have a hard time finding the ones who are not dz.com members! It's your life, live it! I'm getting the "cannot find server" message. I had searched in general for grips, but the one I kept seeing was the GR50 (I think). I never saw actual specs on it though, and wasn't about to buy it if it didn't have the socket! It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

I was given a Canon EOS 850 (89 model or so). I have found lists of remote switches for this camera, but they all plug in. This body has no plug! Arrgghh! Has anyone pulled the body on one of these and hotwired a bite/blow switch? Any idea where I start? Maybe I can get lucky and find a different grip with the plug? Any help? It's your life, live it! OK, that I can do! I'll do pretty good at the belly positions on hybrids too! Just don't ask me to actually fly my body with either my feet or my head pointed at the earth.... It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

The convention does have some really good LO's there (hi Bill, Djan, Winsor, Gary, Mary, ect), but this does make sense. A LO at our tent, working with us, instead of trying to squeeze into the "Official LO tents" Sounds good to me! Does FF stand for FreeFlail? It's your life, live it!
