  1. Dave, Bill, and Hook had excellent replies to your question. I was refering to someone with very little experience attempting to land a very small F111 7 cell vs. a very small ZP. Experienced jumpers know (I hope) what they are getting into when they spec out their container and reserve. The newbie on the other hand has most likely never flown anything that small. Combine that with the "sink and stall" characteristics of a heavily loaded F111 7 cell. . . the ouch/pucker factor gets high quickly. It's your life, live it! 3. We agree on the Java. Too bad so many people don't understand the usefullness of it, and label it as a "virus carrier". It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  4. Wild guess herre Phree, but I'm thinking it's for his website/business startup and not school. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  5. Sorry Bro. Never bothered to learn C. I stick to the hardware stuff now, and mix in Windows environment support and repair for extra cash. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  6. The reserve will most likely be bigger, and 7 cell, as you mention, but not really that much bigger. You would be trading off a 9 cell Zero P canopy with great glide for a 7 cell, most likely F111 type canopy with a not so great glide with light loading. Combine this with a heavier jumper and the landing characteristics get much worse. If I was to find myself suddenly under a main that small, I'd be inclided to trust it to get me to the ground safely, and be prepared to PLF like a mother Fu@#er. A heavy guy trying to land a ~100 sq ft F111 might as well be jumping a round. It'll get you down, but if you aren't prepared for it, it's gonna hurt, possibly really badly. It's your life, live it! 7. Some grass, sure. No mud or blood though, and I'd like it to stay that way for at least another season or 20! It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  8. Wow! I get a graph with Black, Pink, Green, Blue, Yellow, White, Red, and Silver? Edit to add: I should start moving back up faster now, since all the computers I work on in this town are in the process of getting FireDaemon/Folding Console installed. That should bump me up to about 7 or 8 processors by the end of next week, all but 2 running at 1.5Gig or higher.... It's your life, live it! 9. How often do you jump in Wisconsin though? Spoiled by SDC, or so I hear. . . . It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  10. 6 days a week starting Tuesday? Go ahead, rub it in! I start back in the dump truck in the morning, which kills all chances of mid-week jumping. The plus side is I'll be back up to full jumping income in 2 weeks!
  11. .......tear... No lift lines for CASA rides. BSBD, Fly Free, Holly. Welcome to the Society of Vampires my friend. I never really understood what that meant until I lost a close friend to this sport. Death happens. We accept that it can, and may, happen to any of us, at any time. Holly understood this. She also understood that we would grieve, and allow her to continue jumping, every day, in our hearts. Never Forget. . . . It's your life, live it! 13. That's what I was thinkin'! I almost expected to open this thread and see a link to some NSFW pics of Holly! Damn, not here! Congrats on the "A" dude. Now sit back and wait for the "D". It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  14. I get a kick out of these "tests" every so often. This one was kinda cool, so I thought I'd share it. http://www.emode.com/tests/animal/authorize/register.jsp?url=/tests/animal/index.jsp Yea, i'm bored, broke, and staring at low ceilings. So sue me! 16. Wow! You must be privy to some information which I am not. This statement goes directly against the comments of my boss (a 16 year veteran of the county police-now a Seargent). Many? I hear just the opposite from those that I speak with. All have said how if has improved the quality of living, by giving those with nothing a way out, and has reduced the crime rate in those areas. You stated just the opposite. I would really like to see some documentation of that, as my boss would love to see it also. It's your life, live it! 17. well said Jim! That simple statement has made quite a few people I have met re-think their emergency procedures. About 800 feet at throw out, but I ain't doing that again! It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  18. If you honestly believe that by being able to reach your main risers that you can prevent and entanglement by pulling you main in (I personally don't have near the strength that would require) feel free to leave that right handle alone. If the opening shock is what it takes to open the main tray, the reserve is already open and flying. The main will attempt to open in its relative wind, which is now behind and slightly above you. By the time it actually starts to inflate, the 3 rings will have released and it should part way behind you. I am much more confident that if the risers catch on the lines of my reserve that it will be controlable to the ground than if the main inflates behind me and works its way up to the flying reserve, possibly choking it off. Everyone has their own choices it this senario. I have mine, and you should have yours. Make it an intelligent, informed decision, and stick to it when the shit hits the fan. It's your life, live it! 19. Oh, I have an intelligent perspective, it just doesn't apply. I live in a town of 5,000 that hits 50,000 from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Less than 1/2 of 1% of the population in the summer is considered low income, and, living in Wisconsin, our department of workforce development and welfare system (welfare to work program) is extremely good. To receive any kind of assistance you need to be either handicapped to a point you cannot work or work in state supported training programs. It was actually sad to see our Governor, Tommy Thompson, get an appointment in D.C but seeing as it was all his hard work that has done this, he deserved it. It's your life, live it! 21. As I was trained, and have heard many times over, if you have anything out, chop first, then go silver. Less chance of the reserve opening shock popping your main pin out and giving you a 2 out problem. Nothing out, I go silver, and have done it. Hard pull, 3 tries, couldn't get the pud to budge (improperly packed pilot chute in a very tight, almost new BOC pouch) and went straight to the reserve. I like knwowing that in the very rare chance that I have a reserve mal, I haven't allready lost my other option-attempting again the deploy my main. It's your life, live it! 22. Sheez, making me pull out the logbook when I can't go to the DZ, this hurts.... 2 S/L (1998) 3 S/L PRCP's 1 5 sec delay 2 10 sec delays 2 15 sec delays 1 S/L PRCP (currency) (1999) 1 5 sec delay (currency) 1 S/L PRCP (currency) (2001) 1 5 sec delay (currency) 1 15 sec delay Full atitude from here on out. When I retrain in 2001, my instructor went out with me on my 15 sec delay. He said Ihe could see no reason to hold me back. He had me show him an unstable exit to be sure I could get stable and in control quickly and signed me off student status.(I think going into a sit to catch his lead weighted ass may have helped). 23. Ya know, there are a couple of real cuties that work the scales. On the whole though, they are usually really bitchy females on a power trip or some of the biggest male officers I have ever seen. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  24. Being a truck driver, have lost count of the times I have been pulled over. Usually for nothing, either. I'm probably over 100 pull-overs, and if you count all the times I was told to "pull around back" at the scales, I'm probably into 4 digits. It's your life, live it!
