I run a college club and when we have 15-20 that have signed up for a tandem trip, I've seen 3-5 show up. We have thought about taking 15% downpayments for the jump, and if you don't show up, then you're shit out of luck. As for tipping, I've been around the DZ for a few years and know how hard the TM's work (and not to mention I'm a waitress, so I appreciate the concept of tipping), so I always get the group together before they jump and let them know that it is not required, but if you feel you had an awesome time and want to give your TM a tip, then go on with your bad self. I don't think it's right for a DZ to require tipping, but they can suggest it when the student is filling out paper work and such. Honestly, I didn't tip my tandem instructor on my first becuase I didn't know any better. Had somebody mentioned it to me, I would have done it. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I'm a waitress at a sushi place. Mmmmm..... I'm so lucky!!! I loves me some sushi, even though I look at the stuff everyday at work. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Thats how it's been for me all semester since it's my last semester and my classes are all hard as balls!!!! It's a struggle this semester to keep up with all the work / research / job hunting / .....and it seems like everytime I turn around I have another big exam or project due. I feel your pain, but I see a light at the end of my tunnel in may!!!!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

For JFK this sounds pretty typical. Newark, JFK, LGA.... god bless all of em. I've had to do some credit hours in the ATC simulator for my degree in Aviation Meteorology, and if you think this guy had a melt down, you should've seen the students in the sims. I don't think I've ever said so many four letter words in my life!! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Nooo.... alcohol is a drug as well, just like many other substances that are drugs and are legal. So many people in society say "well, alcohol is alcohol and drugs are drugs." Why?! Because our government can't get a grip on a particular substance and/or tax the substance and it's not made legal like alcohol? People always deem whats moral/immoral, right/wrong, just/unjust all by what the government deems is OK in it's eyes. Just my two cents, but there are plenty of other substances that are out there which the govrnment has made illegal that I would rather see an instructor do after hours and then be up at sunrise to work with stuff still floating around in his/her system. I've seen people on all ends of the spectrum and it's the alcohol guy that worries me the most (most of the time) the next morning after a party when I see him on the load. yea, I had to pay for a BPA membership when I was over in Nottingham for the summer of 2005 and it cost me almost double in american dollars. I was not a happy camper and made me appreciate the lousy 50 bucks I pay to the USPA. I don't know how you guys pay that every year, especially when you can't even skydive that much for half of the year anyway! Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I sent out a resume this month too. Right now I intern for a company that is contracted with the 45th weather squadron to do all the forecasting for launches/landings, but I'm hoping to get something a little more permanent after graduation. I love weather and the space program, so I guess I picked a good school to go to just 25 miles down the road from KSC.

Damn, did you loose your virginity then too, doug?? I became a huge coffee drinker about the time I started driving-- around 16. When I was shuffleing from school to work to work and back to home, I was always stopping at wawa to get me a nice cuppa.

-- meteorology geek in the house (well, not officially until I get my degree in May, but close enough ) It's differential heating which sometimes causes these unstable pockes of air that we hit. You can see this in the formation of those towering cumulonimbus clouds, especially on any summer day in Florida. The mornings start cloudless, and then after differential heating and radiation absorbtion of the ground, the energy gets released and creates that dynamic forcing upwards of the air-- and, if the conditions are there for cloud development, you can see this in the formation of a big beautiful towering cumulonimbus thats riding that unstable air column right up until it reaches its equilibrium level. That runway that you're talking about has a blackbody temperature much higher than the ground around, so its a much better absorber for that radiational heating from the sun. When it re-emits the radiation, the heat being radiated back in long waves causes the air above the blacktop to be much warmer, less dense, and bouyant; this is the rising which we can feel under canopy if you fly over one of those areas. Sorry if this sounds kinda chopped up, but it's the best I can do without getting too geeky sounding. Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Man, no more drinking for me! My friday came early last night and I had a run in with a few magharitas. Needless to say, I'm drinking lots of water this morning. Back to the question.... 1.) Beer (any kind of good import or green bottle {except for rolling rock-- ick!}) 2.) Margharitas (mango, strawberry, regular-- lots of salt/sugar!) 3.) Pina Colada Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

I always said that whatever time it takes, it takes. But, for an idealized situation, the 25-28 range is good. Any earlier, and I feel that you don't even know yourself enough yet, let alone get to know anybody else. People change so much sometimes when they get out of college and into their mid 20's. But, if you want to throw kids into this, I guess I would want to be married in that 25-27 range so I could spend a few married years enjoying each other's company and then have a kid around 30. (You don't want to be in depends when they graduate high school! ) I dunno... that was always the way I thought of things.

I know one time I lost a shoe in a horny gorilla exit. When I popped into a sit once we broke out of it, it was odd-- I could definitely feel the difference right away when there was less surface area on the other foot. (but then again maybe this is because I'm not a super high numbered freeflyer) Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)

Ha! I always said that I got through college by not being smart, but trying to look like I was smart. .... and I remind him how lucky he is all the time Apologies for the spelling (and grammar).... I got a B.S, not a B.A. :)
