Sounds like more than simple burn-out... Hey, when it's time to move on, it's time to move on. Nothing wrong with that. I applaud the fact that you both recognised it and took action. Well done. How long have you been in the sport, Derek? “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Whatever it is, remember, it's always much, much cooler if you light yourself on fire first! “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

How far do YOU drive to get your skydiving fix?
ZoneRat replied to schattenjaeger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1 Hour 15 minutes from Skydive Dallas. 35 Minutes from Caddo Mills (1 Cesna, sometimes two, when it's three, well hell, THAT's a boogie!). 1 hour 45 minutes from Eagle Flight in Granbury, TX (3 Cessna's). Love them all, but SD Dallas is home. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.” -
5 days in the hospital?!? Jesus Jessica. You don't mess around. Tailbone and pelvis. That's just gotta suck extra hard. You have my permission to: 1. "rot" as little or as much as you want in bed. 2. Read all you want 3. Eat whatever you want 4. and, what the hell, buy an x-box or somethin'... Aw I'm so sorry that happened. Vibes to ya. ... So, what were the things you LIKED about the jump? “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Looks very jumpable here in Dallas. Partly cloudy. 60°. Light winds until the afternoon... Alas, I have a cold. On the upside, I've been "Thera-Flu dialing" my friends for the holidays. And that's been sorta fun.
-
I've had one pop out and stick itself to the inside of my goggle. It was also during a track. Something about the orientation of the goggle breather holes to the wind would be my guess. I tend to fly head up, but track with my face to the ground, while cocking it left and right. I switched to some $30.00ish goggles they had in the gear store. No breather holes, just foam around the eye pieces. Quite comfy and Works fine. My full face (Z1) works fine too, though I can feel wind in there when checking the spot at certain head angles to the wind. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Might find this helpful. http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/ControlSysMalf.PDF I, however, do it exactly the way PD states as wrong. Hmm.. maybe I should re-examine that... “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Naw, go ahead and point the speaker towards your ear. If it seems too loud in freefall, the protrack has a low volumn setting. I leave mine on high. I jump it in a Z1, a roller hockey helmet (not unlike a protec), and occasionally this goofy hat I bought at Army Navy surplus wherein I sewed a little pocket for it. Congrats on your purchase! I love my protrack!

That is something my friends and I will be doing on Thanksgiving. I have invited several friends over who ... like me have no family close by. I have a large Blue Spruce tree in my front yard that the previous owners bought as a live Christmas tree about 10 years ago, and we will be stringing up lights on it and the house. We will be a diverse group who hail from varying religious backgrounds. Must be good friends indeed if they're willing to come hang your christmas lights for ya...lol (Just kiddin'. Sounds like a great time!) “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Nope. Can't argue with that. Those are very good things. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Decorating a tree with people you love, that love you... friends and family... some of which you haven't seen in a while... helping prepare a huge feast enjoyed by all... expressing to others that they have value in your life with a card or small gift... Pretty important things, those. ~ the kind of things that can and should transcend theological differences. Even we aethiests can love, care about, and desire to spend time with our family and friends during the holidays. We're still human beings after all. I don't much mind the commercialism of christmas. It is what it is. Nor do I much mind the religious trappings and rituals associated with it either. If someone wants to pray over a meal. I bow my head respectfully. Doesn't hurt me to do so, and I like the smiles I see when I look around the table at the amen and everyone opens their eyes. It's usually a pretty good moment. Nope. I dont believe in god or souls or voodoo or ghosts or the budhist karmic calulator in the sky... but I do believe that aethiests should be able to decorate a tree...you know, if they want to. Does that help you to understand your friend? “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Taurus: (April. 20—May 20) You'll win the lottery, but it's not one of those cool lotteries that decides who lives and who dies. http://www.onion.com/3945/horoscopes.html hmmm.... “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Butthole Surfers: Electriclarryland: "Pepper": "...Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pourin' like an avalanche, commin' down the mountain..." "Fanfare for the common man" often plays through my head as I walk to the otter... here's a rather crappy midi of it: Fanfare-midi “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Quoteexit a tube, hold it for a good while (legstrap grips), break it open into a catterpliler, track the cat like crazy, when you're going real fast, the front person does forward loop, which catapults the rear person across the sky in a most satisfactory way!

Hey Alright! You've skydived more miles than most have people have even flown! (How far is 24 hours of freefall I wonder?) I suck at this kinda thing, but I'll give it a try anyway: 24 hours x 120 mph= 2,880 miles... that would be like falling from, say: Chicago to Las Angeles (2034 miles) then tracking from LA to Albuqueque (804) with a 42 mile swoop to an off DZ landing (short 16 miles) from Sante fe. or: From New York to San Diego (2824)... That's rfom the Atlantic to Pacific ocean! Jeesh, dude... that's a lot of freefall... Congrats!!!! (Let's see: 24 hours of freefall x say, 60 jumps per hour X oh... $18.00/ jump= ... ooh... naw... let's not go there...) “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

For a while. Never go to the DZ without a case of beer. Expect to be hugged a lot. By anything. If you leave food, beer, smokes, or possibly even girlfriends laying around, expect that someone will help themself without asking. (Kinda like a best friend or room-mate might). That said, A DZ is not like a ski resort, where you have to worry about things being messed with or stolen. It's like a second home poplulated by friends and family. Outside of the above list, 99% of the time everything else will be left alone, or even taken care of if need be. Expect to meet a suprisingly wide variety of humans. Rich, poor, young, old, conservative, religious, wacky, marginally insane, whatever. The only consistency I've seen in Skydivers, is that they all love to Skydive, and they all want you to love to Skydive too. Have fun on your AFF. An incredible journey awaits you. PS: Someone may, in good faith and honest intention, offer you advice as you progress through AFF towards your A licence. Don't ever take it without asking your instructors about it first. Ever. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Excellent! Really nice how you made use of all the various camera angles throughout. Some amazing footage there. It did have some sorta wierd voodoo language at the beginning I couldn't understand, but besides that, it was perfect as far as I could tell. ps: It's nice to know that 100 or so Russian secret agent spies can take a day off work for a nice jump together! “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Or if your helmet flies off in freefall. I've had 2 friends lose helmets in freefall this past year. Things I like about my Protrack: 1. I like that it logs jumps. Sometimes at the end of a weekend I forget how many I made when updating my logbook. 2. I like that it reports fallrate. 3. I like that it tells me at what alt the canopy slowed me down on opening. 4. I like that it keeps a log of time spent in freefall. For me that info's worth the money. The Prodyter doesn't do those things. Many of my friends jump Skytronic. It's usually a little cheaper and does most that stuff. Might check into it. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

If you pull that little tab really really hard in freefall you fall slower. Naw, not really. Actually it inflates a rubber raft... you know, for water landings. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

You're gettin video? Good! Might be sorta neat to jump with a hankerchief that reads "100th Jump" in big letters. Then the 4-way can form a line with you in the center holding the sign. It'd make for a nice picture, I think. (And surely no one would object to you holding a hankerchief in free fall. That's not like jumping with a tube or smoke bomb). At break off, just let it go if you don't feel comfy deploying with it. Or hell, just launch a 4-way round. It's all good! “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

I'd been care-taking for a friend who'd undergone neck surgery for blown disks. While she was a complete gem, I still missed being able to get out and about. Plus it's kinda hard to be a constant source of possitive support 24-7. At the end of the second week I'm embarrased to admit that my mood was getting a bit sour. Seeing this, we arranged for some other to come hang out at the house for a bit, and I got a weekend of play. Saturday I visited a local fencing club who just happened to be hosting a impromtu foil tournament. Sweated my silly ass off. Damn near won it. Saturday night, there was a skydiver house warming party. Partied until 5:45am. Crashed there with 5 others. Sunday we went to a DZ I'd never been to before. As I "grew up" at a turbine DZ, I love visiting Cesna 'zones. Never been to one that didn't have a cool vibe. Did a couple jumps, then headed back to the hosts house for even more beer , food and good conversation. Monday, I was totally tired. Still a little hungover. Sore as hell... And completely recharged. Sometimes life is just amazingly good. “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Prince's Wand urethral sound worn through a PA piercing Can you program it to play little songs like "Take Me Out To The Ball Park"? “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”

Yes, the foil hat is all well and good to keep the FBI out of my cats head, but then *I* wont be able to read my cats thoughts either! And that's important. Don't believe me? Here's what I got the last time I ran an..umm... cat-scan: > > DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another houseplant. > > DA Y 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their favorite chair...must try this on their bed. > > DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body, in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of, and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm. Not working according to plan. > > DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo." What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth. > > DAY ! 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call "beer.." More importantly I overheard that my confinement was due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how to use it to my advantage. > > DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the metal room his safety is assured. But I can wait, it is only a matter of time. See what I mean? “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophies.”
