  1. He was saying, as loyal as people are to Obama, and as much as they are convinced copies are as good as originals... Obama could say he was a Kenyan and no one would mind. I'm not sure how that logic flowed since I don't think the copies everyone supposedly accepts say he is a Kenyan....and I don't remember people claiming if he wasn't born in America it was OK for him to be running for president.... I figured I would just let it go since he didn't call me a liar again.
  2. They copied it when I checked in, I suppose for security deposit reasons, they took it with my credit card when I checked in and made a copy. The clerk then forgot it wherever (on the machine) I dont know....I didnt realize he didnt hand it back. I discovered it was gone the day I was scheduled to leave and went to him and asked him to look for it, but he couldnt find it. All he had was the photo copy made by him the week before when I checked in. So he made me an additional copy of that. The really fun part is I had been in Seattle at HempFest, and was dressed in a tyedye shirt that said "Hippy chicks dig me" and a big oversized pair of patchwork shorts when I went through security with no ID. I got to skip like 30 min of security line to, I have considered claiming the same thing other times since then just to see if I can skip through again, but only halfway consider it, I don't like messing with karma that way. Sorry its not bogus I don't have any sort of original copy to backup my story though, I suppose you could track the hotel clerk down and see if he remembers me and go from there. Maybe the airport still has video from that long ago. Just ETA: This was in late 2008, so well after 9/11 in case that makes a difference to you. So your license was lost and you got though the gate with a copy. In Obama instance, the first time around, Hawaii indicated there was no birth certificate as Brian requested. From that time to Feinstein approved Obama there was no birth certificate, and not even a copy was produced. So Obama got through the gate, not only with a missing birth certificate, but also with not having to present even a copy. Hence: People get through gates. I suspect, with as loyal people are to Obama, as much as people or convinced copies are as good as orginals, Obama could have announced just before this last election he was truly not a citizen, and people would have voted for him anyway. So it really doesn't matter now about any copy or orginal documents. I only surfaced the topic upon Tailz's Press release indicating the topic was scheduled for conference with SCOTUS. And have already said many time, the Supreme Court will probably never hear the complaint. No problem, just wanted to clarify since you insinuated I was lying.
  3. Better watch what you ask for, you may just get it. Republicans tend to be well armed. Liberals....not so much as many are gun-o-phobes. I hope you wouldn't attack and murder me with your gun because you disagree with the way some people are supposedly running things. But then again that is my worry. Im more a "get-murdered-o-phobe" than a gun-o-phobe. Im sure you would argue I just need to get well armed to fight off the crazies when they come, but I disagree. I would have to vote for you to be one of the guys "not allowed" to have big boy toys.

  5. You must define what you are arguing. If you believe that a COPY of anything is good to prove authenticity then that is your belief. I don't have a problem with you or anyone else that holds that belief. I happen to believe that looking at the orginal is a better idea. Thats it. Nothing more, nothing less. Now come on, use some sense about this. If you were conducting an investigation of anything, would you not rather look at an original? I'm not even talking about Obama now, just looking at documents. I know a cop wants to see your license. The person at the airport counter wants to see your bound passport. NEVER WILL THEY ACCEPT A CERTIFIED COPY OF YOUR LICENSE OR PASSPORT WITHOUT INQUIRING FURTHER. They'll say, OK nice copy. Where is the ORIGINAL? Producing the original might end the conversation about any COPY. End of conversation. Or a simple explanation will end the conversation. Unless the person you are explaining the situation to is a crazy lunatic who is convinced everything you say is a lie. To use your example. I was traveling in Seattle and the hotel guy copied my ID and never gave it back and I didnt notice. So when I get to the airport to fly home....NO ID.all I had was the copy the hotel made...I explained the situation to this TSA kid at the start of the security line. He scanned my bag for bomb materials, and took me through security personally and got me right through....so....yea you can certainly get on with a copy. As long as the TSA kid isn't a FOX watcher. I should have know about airport stuff considering what I've seen they let through.... This demonstrates exactly what I'm talking about: some people believe it's OK to accept copies. Thanks for letting me know that. I'll make a few copies of all my records in case I lose the actual document. No problem. Education > Ignorance. Happy to help.

  7. Well it is a Class A misdemeanor to operate as a dealer without a license, not sure what has to happen to make it a felony, and I don't think it ever gets federal if you aren't crossing state lines. I guess your point is people hate gun sellers and want to make it hard for honest folk to do good business. I agree. I think if some crazy kid had run over a kindergarten class people would be saying the same thing about car dealers. Would have to be one of those new minis to fit down the halls though.
  8. And like I said (but you omitted) that has nothing to do with gun shows. You can call it the private transfer loophole, or some other name, but don't limit it to gun shows. Doing that is the old gun-banner strategy of attacking piecemeal. If they ban private sales at gun shows, the next step would be creating a so called "back alley" loop hole. Or maybe a "living room" loophole. If your goal is to control or prevent all private sales, then say so. If you want to talk about lies under other names, then lets talk about the BS of dealers selling without background checks. It doesn't happen. No FFL dealer will ever sell a gun without a check. If I go to a show and happen to sell a gun, I'm no more a dealer than selling my truck makes me a car dealer. Don't know how gun dealing works, since I am not a gun guru....But if you sell over 6 cars a year in my state you are a dealer, and subject to the rules and regulations of one. So if its the same for guns just make sure you don't sell too many at the show.
  9. Lol. If you think it was a massive overwhelming conspiracy, don't you think they could recreate some old documents to look legitimate? They couldn't with all their endless reach and money, hire the best artists and document experts in the world to fake you whatever your crazy heart desired? You really think their reach extends only to photoshopping some pictures? What kind of conspiracy buff are you? Im sure they have the fakes in paper form for whoever wants to see them don't worry. Also the Supreme Court is not going to hear this case, its all ran by Canadians and they love Obama.
  10. Wow. Just wow. You just made it clear that only criminals should have guns. Wow. And police, military, and other members of government whose job function deems carrying a firearm necessary. But otherwise yea, just the people who are buying them illegally on the black market, sounds good to me.
  11. I guess we just see America differently. I don't see the USA as a potential Syria, or Afghanistan, or 1930's Germany. ETA But even to my original comment, do you think the rebels guns they had are what kept them in the fight this long? http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jan/04/syria-rebels-arms-drying-up I don't think the fact that they had guns stopped Assad from clamping down and starting them on their rebellion, and I don't think the guns they had will carry them through 2 years of rebellion. He didn't sit down and say "wow, these cats are pretty heavily armed, if I piss them off too badly they may take over"....and then when he did piss them off badly enough, he said, "shit, these cats are pissed, army, air force, attack their punk asses"......the guns they possess doesn't factor in.
  12. "people" don't have a right to guns. Americans have a right to guns. The vast majority of "people" do not. People all suffer from the fact that life isn't fair though. The rest I agree with. How has petitioning the government for redress worked out for you? For me pretty shitty, I haven't seen any of my awesome ideas listened to. But I have seen on multiple occasions my drunk ass neighbors outside shooting their guns off. So that is where we part ways on what we would like to see I think.
  13. Yea man, they say that, because it's true. Life is not always fair, you might be a good kid who doesn't eat the paste but guess what....Timmy eats the fckin paste all the time and so now, no one gets paste, you can stick you snowflakes on your construction paper with spit. That's life. There is no cure for stupidity and poor breeding that is socially acceptable.... SO society makes rules and regulations to try and keep the stupid people from fucking everyone else's life up. Of course the non-stupid people are penalized and required to operate at the level of retardation that the lowest common denominator has landed us. Again, such is life. I am all for IQ tests and required income and education levels before we let people breed. That would start us out on the right path. Once we breed out the stupidity guns won't be such a problem. There was another guy in history who had some great ideas on breeding traits out of populations....I wish I could think of his name but it escapes me right now. Either way I don't think you (or me) or Bob down the road having his .22 pistol is really what's deterring Obama from issuing a bunch of Stalin style laws unilaterally, so I find it funny when people use that as a reason they need guns.
  14. I think you are confused. Take away the gun, and the crazy has no gun. THAT'S the idea. No one is suggesting taking guns away from crazy people makes them less crazy.....just less armed. ETA: Some less crazy, or non-crazy people will also lose their right to have a gun, tough shit. Welcome to being a grown up and not getting everything you want. It is also comical to hear that we "need" guns to prevent another Stalin or Hitler from taking over. You people really think your handguns and semi-auto ar-15s that "aren't even assault weapons" can defeat the US military??? You think they are NOT attacking you now because you have guns???? Honestly???? That is pure comedy to me. So You advocate taking away protection from those who are crazy Hey Are you nuts? Not sure where I said that..... I didn't advocate anything, but I will advocate taking away guns, from everyone. I think there should be only as many guns as the mexicans, and canadians can smuggle into this country illegally. Just like drugs, im comfortable with the supply being restricted to what some clever foreigners can think of, instead of what some minimum wage walmart guy can sell you. Sure some drugs are made here, but it will be a lot harder to make guns in your trailer to sell on the black market, so I am all for it.

    Cheating...

How does paying for sex work? You certainly (I hope) aren't forming emotional bonds with your hookers, so is it just the physical act to worry about? Maybe you like big girls and your wife went on the damn atkins diet and weighs 80lbs now, and you just want some mo' lovin'. Is that considered cheating? Always wondered about that one. ETA: "You" etc certainly not directed at anyone individual, I forgot this thing responds to the last poster. I meant it as a generality. You as in those who use hookers.
  17. I also think that a lot of it does have to do with culture. I agree, its not JUST the fact that you have substantially lower amounts of guns. But its PARTLY due to that. I think it will be a lot easier to take the number of guns down, than it will be to change the underlying culture of the USA as a first step in reducing homicides to a level closer resembling the UK.
  18. Could be. You are saying just because they have fewer guns per capita, and fewer homicides per capita the two are totally unrelated? As long as I was doing the math right there I would have to respectfully disagree with that opinion.
  19. Banned was the wrong word to use. Guns are more strongly controlled in the UK than in the USA. Plenty is also relative. There are far more (per capita) guns in the USA than in the UK. I simply suggest that if we had a per capita gun rate closer to that of the UK, we would see a homicide rate closer to that of the UK. Of course criminals in both countries will still manage to do criminal things (including finding illegal firearms to use in illegal things).....as evidenced by your posts, London still has crime...... So again your question...phrased in a macro context. How does the UK manage to have a much lower homicide rate than the USA? My answer, they start with a much lower gun rate. ETA: The USA has 88.8 guns per capita and 4.8 homicides per capita The UK has 15.4 guns per capita and 1.2 homicides per capita. Thats all from gunpolicy.org and the UNODC stats. So, again im not a math wiz, but I think that says: The UK has ~17% as many guns per capita as the USA does, and has 25% as many homicides. What am I missing??
  20. good at math? How many guns are there in pure existence? How many guns have been used in murders? is the percentage significant enough to be treated proportionately? if you "GREATLY reduce" the total out there, what do you think the odds are that you'd get that giant number of guns from bad guys - or would you just take a ton of guns from just law abiding people? I suspect if you find a town with 1000 guns and 2 people that used 2 guns and committed 2 murders - go back in Billvon's time machine and GREATLY reduce the guns in town - like over half. You'll end up in a town with 500 guns and 2 people that used 2 guns and committed 2 murders. now, find a town with 2 bad guys and go back in time and GREATLY reduce the number of bad guys - say by half. Now you did something cool. and you have a town with 999 guns, 1 bad guy, and only 1 murder. you have to find the bad guys, not the inanimate objects - work on that and we'll have a real solution smart guys work on root cause - not symptoms or 2ndary inputs It might not be a linear relationship.....but I don't understand how if we went from 270 million guns, to 27 million guns, you think there would be greater availability of guns to criminals......and more gun violence? It's not a question of whether or not criminals with illegal weapons would turn them in or not. It's about taking a conscious step towards REDUCING the overall number of guns in the country by a LARGE percentage in order to better align with countries with low homicide rates and similar social and economic settings.
  21. As already mentioned, the fact that guns are banned in a micro area means little. If guns were simply banned in London, and not the rest of the UK, I would argue the numbers would be much closer. The MACRO availability is the problem. People cherry picking micro areas with gun bans in the USA is certainly not a constructive argument. If the TOTAL number of guns available was GREATLY reduced. The amount of murders would also decrease. Rocket Science I know, but I am a smart guy what can I say.
  22. Since I am sure you meant to paste the full context of their conclusion and just forgot to paste the second half, Ill help you out "Therefore, greenhouse gas forcing, aerosols, solar irradiance and global temperature are not polynomially cointegrated, and the perceived relationship between these variables is a spurious regression phenomenon. On the other hand, we find that greenhouse gas forcings might have had a temporary effect on global temperature." Now I dont know what any of that means, but I just figured you wouldn't want to leave that other hand part out, since you seem like a level headed dude looking for some real discussion.
  23. Well if I understand the site correctly. You don't actually lose any money until they raise the 1.2 million in pledges. When that happens I guess they get the 1.2 million and all the pledges get cashed in. Maybe what he means is that after that if they can't get going the people pledging over $250 will get their money back.....but either way the site says nothing happens for another 1.99 million dollars in pledges I think your $100 is safe.
  24. 18 jumps in I can still feel a noticeable difference each time. From the load in to the ride up to the door opening to climbing out and jumping. Each time I feel a bit more relaxed. Still don't think I am on the level of the 1000 jump guys that are in the plane with my by any stretch of my imagination. But it is a lot less terrifying on jump 18 than it was on jump 1,2,3 when the pilot yells DOOR and that door swings up on the little 182 we are crammed in. Stick with it that week long class sounds like a great idea to me!
  25. That does suck....I guess you took the FJC sometime before that and just had to go back for the jump? When I went through the FJC the class had about 5 people in it. I was the only one who got to go on that day, because the class took nearly the whole day, and it gets dark early. They came and asked who wanted to go first and I jumped (no pun intended) at the chance. The others in the class had to come back on a different day like it seems you did and they had a bit more trouble getting everything scheduled but the DZ still got them up. Sorry you had a rough exp.
