  4. Not directed at you Tanto just the closest reply button. Anti Amaricanism explained thats a tough one. I've lived and worked in the Middle East for two years in Kuwait and Qatar. I know people from all over the world US, Britain, Austrailia, Pakistan, India, Lebanon, Philipenes and a heaps of other countries. What it comes down to is we all live and work together and have freindships that can't be broken by what the leaders of our countries are doing. I often get asked why the US is doing what it is doing and I can't realy give them an answer. Do they hate me because I'm an American? No. Do I hate them? No. So why the anti Americanism in the world? Simple our government often times sticks it's nose in where it doesn't belong. The other people don't really hate Americans they hate what our government does. We often send people in to an area to help but due to our culture we think that since we are there we might as well be in charge and damn the indiginous people that have other ideas on how things should operate. (they thought we were there just to help). So we strut in and start taking over and the next thing you know they are left standing there with no job, no say and no clue what is going to happen next. Who do you think they are going to blame. I have seen it a hundred times. The loud American walks in starts booming orders and steps all over their customs, religion and ideas. Granted the American has a job to do and we are very goal orientated people. But what it all comes down to is we as Americans are basically ingnorant and calous to their ideals. I really don't see it ever changing because our attitude is based on aciving goals and when we go some where it's usually because there is some sort of problem. ( hey I can fix that and I will no matter what ). What to do what to do? I don't know, I know I'll just keep doing the same as I ever did. Respect their customs and work with people instead of making them feel that they work for me. Yes I did my time in the military and I still work with them. Do I think the present course of action is correct? Not nessicarily. You can' have ten years of no enforcement and expect someone to all of the sudden follow all the rules. It is to bad that the people of DZ.Com is not in charge we could do a poll to find out the best course of action and get up the next day and go jump. Shite, I've rambled long enough. Peace. Doug
  5. I was at a turbine DZ and to test for spotting I was told to look out, spot the location we exited from and tell the instructor where we got out during the debrief. Do this for a couple of jumps and if it matches up with what the instructor saw you know how to spot. Granted your not doing course corrections but how hard is that.
  6. That is what I was thinking. No more sex in CA without a camera and a written document stating what the definition of sex is and any associated stop words are. Plus a little section about the word stop as used during sex. Fat fuckin chance of getting me in CA any who since I'm a carnivore and all there is there is nuts and fruits.
  7. Jack, Good job buddy. I was at Ramblers when you were on day 60 something. Doug

    High/Low

High: I have 30 days off work starting to day low: I have to go back to work in thirty days BTW it's been 14 months since i've been to the States and 10.5 since I've had a vacation. I'm so ready. Only problem is the don't serve VB in the States
  9. Update: Sent my rig out FedEx. Supposed to be there Wednesday. We'll see but at least those TSA buffoons won't be grabbing the handles and ripping my gear off. And I should be able to get to my destination with out 50 questions. It just got so much harder to visit the states. Cost me 200 bucks as well rat bastards.
  10. Doesn't any one that posts on here besides me work in a non IT job. I work for a defence contractor in the sandbox. We produce on average 35000 MW hours of power a year and use 18000 gallons of oil. We also burn close to 2 million gallons of fuel per year. What ever it takes to be ready to kick Saddams ass. (not that I think it's the right thing to do at this point in time) At least the computer works. But as I tell them over here; without us your just camping. 26 hours till vacation
  11. Ferg: Nope can't make it next week end. I'm off to the states for a month. I was down in UAE for Eid but the Caravan wasn't ready. Spent my time at the 7's in the Aggreko stand instead. That was a good time but not near as good as jumping. I cant wait to get out of the the new Caravan what ever it costs. Hope to see all the UAQ crew at the end of Feb. BTW I'm in Qatar.

    Jump Numbers

25 jumps between Feb 22 and Mar 4. (Course they were in Australia and I think it's the greatest place in the world) It was the only time off I've had the entire year. I have 30 days off starting tomorrow though and will be in FL and TX jumping my ass off. See you all there.
  13. Hey Clay repost that picture from long ago so we can all make fun of you MAN TITS again.
  14. or like freind of mine in the beutiful Central Republic of the Congo.
  15. I have two Airtime suits, Free fly and RW. Alan White is the shit and makes an excellent product. Rock up to Ramblers do some B-rels have the instructors get a feel for your fall rate and have Al measure and build you you one or two. He can also do killer graphics look at Paul and Debs FF suits. Man I miss AU .
  16. Don't lock your stuff?? I live in the Middle East and it's a 24 hour journey back to FL. Carry on for all my gear isn't really an option (I don't jump a pocket rocket). Rig, helmet, jump suits, skydiving t-shirts, altis, ditters, goggles. What is to keep the airport screeners from ripping off all your gear. It happens already and now they don't want you to secure your baggage. WTF. They need to pre screen when you enter the air hole and if they have a problem snatch you up then. What a bunch of BS. I see alot of personal property getting ripped off in the near future. Oh well guess I better get renters insurance although that won't get me a new rig in time to jump while i'm on vacation. This planet is fcuked who's got a new one.
  17. I don't know what the tree huggers can bitch about. The fact that there were massive secondary explosions when the vehicles were hit justifies the entire action.
  18. I have the same setup 189 Safire 181 -M in a G-3 M4. I pro pack simply because i learned it first and every time I tried psyco pacing it went to shit. I do the top half bottom half type of pack job. Regular pro pack, S fold the top part of the canopy into the bag and once you have that squared away you chuck the bottom part in and close it up. I've had the best openings on what I thought were the worst pack jobs and the worst openings on the compensated pack jobs. It is a sweet rig and in my limited experience a fun canopy.
  19. Never never never pop you reserve unless you are with your rigger. Imagine the pain and suffering you would go through if your reserve was opened and a jump came up. You would miss out and seriously be questioning your reasons. Have faith in your gear, get a repack when practicle and jump when you can because currency is better than a repack. OK bring it on. By they way anyone want to sign my reserve repack card.
  20. Hell if I know. But they do make engineers to figure out that kind of thing. I would imagine that they could speed it up quite a bit and have some kind of shock absorber mechanaism in the chair assembly that would slow you down until you were up to speed. like the old T-bar ski lifts wit the springs in them. Once your going you could theoredicaly get out at any altitude or ride it back down if you puss out. Then it would be up to the JM to through your ass off the ride. Just a thought. D btw where did the spell check go??
  21. instead of aircraft why not use airostat type balloons (the radar ballons on the coast) with ski resort quad chairs to go to 10 to 13 k and get off at the top?? Just make them bigger. Just an idea.
  22. Lisa, It's a good thing we all know who you work for or this might sound like some kind of blatant plug on your part. On the Sq.1 web site I noticed that you only offer one type of reserve. That reserve is a PD. I also noticed that you said you would be hard pressed to recommend a Tempo or a Raven because your friends #1 broke their back on landing the Tempo and #2 had a fast opening on the Raven. " PD. Hands down. Strongest construction, best landings, excellent customer service from the manufacturer (problem with your new reserve? Call them and they'll send you another one). My opinion of course, but after talking with some very experienced people who won't carry anything but a PD for a variety of reasons I replaced my 135-M with a PD143R. I wouldn't recommend a Tempo to anyone after hearing about numerous very experienced jumpers who've broken their backs landing them, not to mention the hassle for a US jumper of getting any problems with the canopy taken care of - shipping to and from SA is very expensive, international phone calls ain't cheap, etc. I'd be hard pressed to recommend a Raven to anyone who can't take a hard opening (camera fliers, those with prior neck and back injuries, etc) after watching a friend suffer for months from neck injuries after a nearly-terminal Raven opening, not to mention the horrible landing he had with it (this is a jumper with 1200 jumps who swoops every landing with his main - he knows how to fly a parachute). In addition, the DashM in the Eloy incident was not overloaded by anybody's standards - the jumper was well within the TSO limits." Now call me crazy but I thought reserves were required to open within around 4 or 5 hundred feet or 2 or 3 seconds. Sounds to me like any camera flier is going to end up with some neck problems. As for your friends landing bad under Tempos I don't know what to say I have read alot of posts on these boards about Tempos and have not heared you recommend against them once. Mabey they screwed up??? I don't know if you have some new deal with your employer and you get a larger commission on PD products but it sounds like it. If your going to be a moderator on these boards mabey you could stick with moderating. If I am factualy incorrect on any thing (opening distance or speed) pease correct me. I might be way off base here but what you said didn't sound like the person that normally post as Skybitch. You normally sound off about wing loading and canopy control. If I'm wrong then I need to trade in or give away my reserve before I'm paralized or killed.
