This is no ordinary SPAM virus. This one is targetted specifically at Qwest.net users. If you are a Qwest.net user, and receive the following email today, do not open the attachment. This one has been carefully crafted by a sneaky person. It looks like an official email from staff@qwest.net and has a URL to the Qwest site and is signed by the Qwest.net team. Don't open the attachment. I'll post more if I find out more.

Exactly what I was thinking Good video guys, and I like how quickly you both reacted. I hope if that ever comes up for me that I'll react as quickly with the correct procedure. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Can't wait for all three movies to be released in the extended box set DVD. I figure it'll be about 14 hours of movie watchin' - probably more than watching all six Star Wars movies. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Saw an ad for a tunnel in this month's Parachutist. I haven't seen this one before. Has anyone been there and can comment? Looks outdoor and portable. Just a novelty for whuffos? Was this the one at Rantoul last year? Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

I hope you're not confusing nihilism and atheism. Atheism = one who believes that there is no deity.. Nihilism = A viewpoint that traditional values and beliefs are unfounded and that existence is senseless and useless. A doctrine that denies any objective ground of truth and especially of moral truths The difference is that atheists can still have morals. Nihilists tend to be psychopathic. I've been diving for a few years now, and I've never really been able to swim. In a month, I'm starting a program to become a dive controller (kind of like a skydiving "coach"), which requires some swimming skills. So I'm going to the gym every day for the last month or two, working with a coach, to try to learn to do laps and swim with my head down, etc. The good and the bad on Chlorine/Bromine. It's bad when it goes up your nose. That's also good, because I'm pretty sure most of the water in the gym's pool has been up my nose at some point. I love telling people that I scuba and can't swim, and that I skydive and I'm afraid of heights. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Looks to me that the lines and insulators (those black discs) were added in after the fact. #1 - they are too big. #2 - they are upside down. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

are aads becoming mandatory in usa
riddler replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
USPA BSRs specify that AADs are already mandatory for students (anyone not holding an A license or higher). Anyone with an A license or higher may choose not to have one. This should be true of any dropzone that is affiliated with USPA. Dropzones not affiliated with USPA may still require an AAD - it is up to the dropzone owner. Even USPA dropzones may still require AADs for jumpers that have an A license or higher. Bottom line - no, AADs aren't required for everyone in the USA. Ask the S&TA at the dropzone. You mean I get my choice of bench or cargo area, and there's an average 30% on-time schedule? Sounds a lot like a dropzone Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Ha! It would be very cool for us, but I doubt it would be cool for them. In fact it would be downright cold for them. I haven't jumped in a month because it hasn't been 50 degrees on a weekend for the last four weeks Come out and play in Colorado when it's warmer. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Is your S&TA's word good enough for most DZ's?
riddler replied to BlindBrick's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know people that have jumped at Eloy without having a USPA license or even belonging to USPA. I understand that they require to register with a local membership - something like $15 - and they will review your qualifications. You don't need to be in USPA to jump at many dropzones, but it helps. I should point out that this is hearsay - I've always had a license when jumping at Eloy, so I never had to deal with it. First, make sure you are falling as fast as you think. Do some coach jumps and have some people tell you if you're falling faster than they would expect. You might not be. We all fall pretty fast in this sport You can then do some things with your body position to learn to fly a little slower, and a coach can help you work on these things. Second, if you do find you are falling to fast (i.e. faster than the average jumper), talk to a jumpsuit manufacturer and let them know you want to go slow. They can recommend some materials that help you fall slower, and they will make a jumpsuit that has more fabric than normal. The extra material will slow you down, but it will flap a lot. There are additional modifications, like swoop cords that I don't recommend until you get some more jumps and experience. But if you have a body type that just falls fast, you can eventually add modifications like that which will help. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

The owner of Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver, John Hinckenlooper, is also the elected Mayor of Denver. Tell me we don't like beer in Colorado

billvon has a good post on this, and there is a lot of good information in the follow-up posts. Like hooknswoop tells me - if you have rapide links and/or wide (2") risers, get slider bumpers and leave the slider up. If you have soft links and mini risers, (1") pull it down (being careful to not pop the toggle off) and stow it behind your head. Side note - I don't know if it will make much of a performance difference on a 170 loaded just over 1. But it least it doesn't make that annoying flapping noise

Bad experience with strippers in the past? I only ask because some of the coolest women I've met are strippers. Many are well educated, sociable and most importantly uninhibited . I wouldn't be ashamed to say I was dating one. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

second interview = very good. We're rootin' for ya. Now a third interview is just a waste of time. I once did three technical (read 2 hours or more each of oral and written exams) interviews with one company in Boulder, after which they decided to fill the position internally. I was surprised to see skydiving listed as an activity on fitday. Now I can safely log my weekend activities and determine the calorie consumption of going to the dropzone. There's a slight problem, though. According to FitDay, skydiving burns only about 3 calories per minute, on average. Three jumps a day, approx 5 minutes per jump (including canopy time), 15 minutes of skydiving, 47 total calories burned. This has got to be wrong! What about being nervous on the way up? I've seen people shake and sweat so much I'm sure I felt the plane load get lighter from all the weight they lost on the ride up. What about packing? That's got to burn a few ounces of fat - especially when, like me, you have a bag that's sized smaller than your main. I think I'll ponder this over a beer or two. That, and why the Hell can't it get up to 50 degrees in Denver? Waahhhh. Maybe I'll brave the 45 predicted for tomorrow. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
