WTF??? If students at your dz might jump out of a tree or off a building because of a question on a forum, should they even be skydiving?? That's just TOO funny!! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

I'm gonna start having my paycheck direct deposited into the dz's bank account. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Only 12 so far, but I am SO addicted!!!! It will be two weeks before I get a chance to jump again - I don't know if I can make it! Jumping is all I can think about!! I want it - I need it - I CRAVE it! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Congratulations!! Sounds like your Tandem Master set the hook deep!! Now go learn and FLY! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Yeah, I consider a skydive a "ride" - but it's a ride you can do over and over and over and not get tired of it! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee.... Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

My sister laid this on me about 30 years ago and I found it to be pretty accurate at least in terms of my answers and in the few people of tried it on since. I stopped using it with people when one girls answers were so horrible (the forest is nothing but lots and lots of thorns and vines and i'm tangled up in them). I thought, man, this girl's life must really suck! LOL I was reminded of it with that post about what you would change in your life if you could go back. Interestingly, I wouldn't change a thing so I figure either I'm pretty happy or pretty stupid. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

You have a pretty nice view of life - sounds like you are quite happy and satisfied. About the cup/sex - well, I'm not gonna touch that! You don't view death as any great obsticle. You seem to view death as an extension of this life. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Well, I'm not sure about that brick wall either, but it would seem that you view any afterlife as something pleasant. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

If you haven't already, before reading this post, go read A walk in the woods - post #1 first. You should have come up with descriptions to the scenarios presented. The woods reflect your view of life in general. The cup reflects your view of sex. The wall reflects your view of death. The other side is, well, your view of the other side. This post will be in two parts. Think about your answers to the following and then go to post #2. You might find your answers kind of interesting. Close your eyes and imagine yourself walking through a forest. Describe the forest you are walking through. Along your walk in the forest you find a cup. Describe the cup. Soon you come to a wall. Describe the wall. Somehow, you find a way over or around the wall. Describe what you see on the other side of the wall. Now go and read post #2. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

I had to think about this for awhile, but I've concluded that I would not change anything! So far - to age 52 - I've had a resonably happy life and all that I've done, decisions I've made - right or wrong - have brought me to where I am today and I can honestly say that I've never been happier. I do wish I would have started skydiving sooner, but that's about it. Thanks, Harro, for giving me reason to reflect! What's the most vivid memory about your first jump?
Brisco replied to prepheckt's topic in The Bonfire
Cool thread! Everyone so far has pretty much described my memories of that first jump (tandem). I remember thinking "this is so COOL!" and how quickly 60 seconds went by - seemed more like 10 seconds! Had a hard opening that almost knocked the wind out of me - never expected that. The part of a jump that still amazes me is the sudden difference in environment - inside a (relatively) quiet plane with a solid floor under your feet and then you're just out there! Thrills me every time!! After my 3rd or 4th jump, someone at the dz said "you can almost feel your blood pressure drop after a jump" and I realized how calm and serene I felt after a jump. I have slightly high bp (on meds for it) and since I've started skydiving my bp has been considerably lower than normal. I went for a couple of jumps yesterday (9/11 - jumped the Frankenotter, btw - it's alive! it's alive!) and as an experiment I brought my bp monitor with me and checked myself before and after. My first jump of the day was my first ever solo (BEER), so I was a bit keyed up about it. My bp before that first jump was 145 / 94. My bp after the second jump? 114 / 74!! I can't wait to tell my doctor about that!! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want. -
Personally, I think that's GREAT!! My wife and I found out not long ago that my 90 year old, widowed father-in-law has been hiring hookers on a regular basis. My wife is horified, but I keep thinking, GO you old fart, GO! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

A man was walking down the street one day when up ahead of him he spotted a little boy, dressed as a fireman, sitting a little red wagon being pulled by a large dog. As he got closer, he saw that the boy had the pull-rope tied around the dogs testicles. The dog was just plodding along, hanging it's head. Wincing in sympathy for the poor dog, the man said to the boy, "That's a nice fire engine you have there, but I think that dog would pull you much faster if you tied that rope around his neck!" "Yes, I know," the boy replied, "but then I wouldn't have a siren!" Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

I rarely pray to ask for something, but I often offer up a hearty thanks when things are going well or I take a minute to relect on the good things in my life. Then there is always a big THANK YOU when my feet are firmly back on the ground after a skydive LOL Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

A man was preparing to board a plane when he heard the Pope was on the same flight. Imagine his surprise when the Pope sat down in the seat next to him. Shortly after take-off, the Pope began a crossword puzzle. After awhile, the Pope turned to the gentleman and said, "Excuse me, but do you know a four letter word referring to a woman that ends in 'UNT'?" The man paused and replied, "Aunt." "Of course," said the Pope. "Do you have an eraser?" Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Well, the one thing that gives me hope is something I heard years ago from a radio talk-show host - he pointed out that what is "NEWS" is the unusual, the rare, the different. We don't often hear the "good things" on the news, just the bad, which is the unusual. Unfortunately, we get a 24 hour bombardment of news these days. Screw the news - let's all go skydiving!! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

You're right - nowhere in the orignal post was there any mention of terrorists - I got caught up in that semi-hijacked part of the thread. And I guess I've got too much 9/11 on my mind as there certainly are terrorists other than Muslim. In fact, I'd like to take the word Muslim out of there all together. As it was pointed out earlier, the kind of evil we saw on 9/11 is some people's very twisted version of Islam. Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
-
His reason for assuming Muslim in this scenario couldn't possibly be because most terrorist acts in the past 20-odd years (yeah, yeah, I know - Tim McVeigh wasn't Muslim - just crazy) happened to be perpetrated by Muslims, could it?! As far as I'm concerned, this anti-profiling is a load of horseshit. If groups of little gray-haired old ladies had been bombing and killing for the past 20 years, you can bet your ass we'd be looking REAL hard at little gray-haired old ladies.

Just a suggestion: if you want to get his attention, don't scream - whisper. And don't lay out any specific threats, just something more along the lines of if you do/don't do such and such, you will NOT like the consequences. Then if he doesn't comply, do something creative - like put a padlock on the refrigerator - or clean out his room leaving only a bare mattress on the floor and if there is something in his room that you paid for, sell it! Getting into an argument with him is counter-productive - he doesn't want to hear it, he doesn't want the hassle and it only raises your blood pressure. Maintain calm, but let him know in no uncertain terms that you mean business! Good luck. My kid turns 30 (30?? holy shit!!) in a couple of weeks so I know what kind of stuff you're going through. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and bruises to prove it! LOL Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.

Well personally, I don't feel all THAT sorry for y'all. Our entire Labor Day weekend got rained out here in NC and we had to sit here and listen about all the fun & good times y'all were having! After 3 weeks of looking at the sky, sometimes in disgust and some times with longing, I couldn't stand it any longer and I blew off work yesterday for some skydiving. Yesssssssssss!!!! Life is good!! Brisco Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want.
